They're not calling themselves scientific thinkers so they actually have the right to be biased.

>doesnt believe in a god because rational and not a sheep
>doesnt have to disprove god because you cant prove a negative and the burden of proof is on the believer
>states the obvious
>literally the opposite. We take responsibility instead of pawning it off on the devil being up to something or gods plan

>Be me >Dead, godless universe of inanimate unconscious matter >Realize I am dead, unconscious nothingness >euphorically rearrange my dead, unconscious inanimate reality into living animated consciousness
>Are capable of helping the downtrodden out of compassion, because they believe they live in a world where a god isn't going to bail anyone out
It's pretty funny seeing the religious shit on Atheism when there are more heretical things one could think about pertaining toward religion without veering into any kind of criminal behavior.
Like asking "Why are religions around" or "Why do religions exist" or "Why did monotheistic religions become trendy" or "How do people manage to invent new convincing religions so often like you might find in cults"
Henry Thomas
An almighty invisible unicorn is sucking my dick right now. >disprove me or else this is true and you have to believe in the unicorn sucking my dick & live your life after its rules (which I obvioulsy know because I wrote them down in a book from some divine inspiration)
>atheists are afraid of taking responsibility for their lives
No youre thinking of christtards, the ones who think a sky wizard kills people and gives them nice things
Joseph Sanders
Something must have predated the universe and created it. You know it, I know it, but in the west people are arrogant enough to ignore it and think life is just about wanking and watching Game of Thrones. It's really this simple.
Christian Morris
The atheist
>believes in one fewer gods than you do
Wyatt Flores
Matter/energy cannot be created or destroyed. Universe has always existed.
Perhaps in the infinite variability of forms Universe has taken, occasionally a few contain life capable of the monumental hubris of thinking it's all for them.
Parker Price
There are more than enough theories regarding this. (You)r god is most likely not the right answer. Why not the muslim god, the jewish, the hindu or some satanic cults? And if everything needs an explanation (such as where we're comming from, what was before the universe), why doesn't your god need one? Where did he come from? What about the infinite loop heat death theorie where the universe creates and destroys itself?
For me personally I believe something/someone created us. Given that in max 200-500 years humans will be able to create a simulation of the universe as detailed as the universe we are living in, I think this reality is merely a simulation too. One of many possibly. To me this seems to be the most reasonable, pragmatic answer. In this theory the technologically more advanced species that created us would take the role of your "god".

>>hates God because it's edgy That's a bit of a deliberate misinterpretion of what atheists are. Don't be intellectually dishonest.
Daniel Harris
There is a logical and scientific framework that is consistent with belief in God.
Christian Miller
>hates God because it's edgy What God? Allah? Ra? Odin? Vishnu? >can't disprove God but still calls himself a scientist despite making claims out of emotional bias Existence of God is not falsifiable, so it's not a question that science can even answer. >thinks there's a universe and sentient beings experiencing it out of a random coincidence Well, there's some evidence for that, but it's still kinda unknown wheter there's underlying mechanics or that it's just probabilities. >all this vecause he's afraid of taking responsibility for his life How do these two connect?
I thought people here were believing in god because it's the new edgy thing to do
Jaxson Anderson
the christcuck
>worships another culture's god because he's been brainwashed to from an early age
>can't prove the existence of the kike god but still thinks he's right due to his emotional attachment to shitty fanfiction from 2000 years ago
>thinks he knows more about the universe than people who study it for a living due to said fiction novel
>all this because he's too scared and moronic to find meaning in his actual life instead of his fantasies
fixed that for you OP
Wyatt Anderson
It's just a counter-cultural reaction to the fact that atheism has gained popularity. Typical on Jow Forums.
Back in ~ pre-2012 Jow Forums was loudly atheist and /b/ was full of threads about mocking christians. Why? Because that was counterculture back then.
Bentley Carter
Yeah but even Richard Dawkins said he's open to believe there may be *something* beyond our comprehension
Jaxon Allen
Imagine being this scared to believe.
Oliver Hughes
Imagine being a sheep. Baa baa to you too buddy.
Julian Baker
Imagine being this indoctrinated to never question anything that is being told to you or your parents or their parents. >Scared of Hell 100 >Critical Thinking 0
Austin Gray
Why do you equate the existence of god with a fucking book being his will, or some retard being his prophet. Arguing about the existence of god is meaningless. What you really want is people treating your shitty book as truth, which you have no arguments for.
Evan Gomez
I'm atheist I don't hate God, I don't care if you believe in him or not it's just that I don't believe in him.
Can you prove it then?
You're clearly not one of those beings
You're afraid of taking responsibility yourself, that's why you look to some imaginary friend to 'help you.
God told me to tell you that He wants you to give me all of your money.
What? You want proof? What are you, a heretic? Give me your money or you're going to Hell! God said so!
Bentley Reyes
Yeah the unicorn that sucks his dick is the creator of the universs

Truly god is good!

>hates God because it's edgy Richard Dawkins doesn't hate god. He hates religion. It's been the cause and center of wars, genocides, mass hysteria, voting based on religious views, etc. >can't disprove God but still calls himself a scientist despite making claims out of emotional bias He's an evolutionary biologist, but that's not why he can't disprove god. No one can disprove god. You can't disprove a negative. >thinks there's a universe and sentient beings experiencing it out of a random coincidence Makes sense to me. Every day a child is ran over or beaten somewhere in the world and left for dead, or a person, or hundreds of people. If there's a god that condones that, he's either completely evil or he doesn't exist. >all this because he's afraid of taking responsibility for his life I have no idea what that means.
Agreed. It's amazing that as soon as we get beyond what our senses and instruments can see, that's where the religious shove their specific God, as if He's just hiding out there, just beyond our reach. Hundreds of years of mastering the forces of nature provided no evidence for any God, so why do these people expect that He's just around the corner?
Grayson Sullivan
I know this is a b8 thread but I can humor the idea that some higher being may have created the universe but you can't ignore the fact that religion was created to control the people.
Adrian White
Religion was created to attempt to put rational thought into our place in the universe due to the lack of other ideas. It's been and has been used to control people, but like anything else, its invention is purely innocent.
The only case where I'd say a religion was PURELY created to control people would be Scientology... because that was the end goal of the writer.
Landon Ross
I'm sorry, I jumped the gun because I'm a bitter brainlet asshole. You're probably right though, people needed something to believe in.
Nathan Perez
Also Mormonism. Pretty clearly a sex cult started by a convicted fraud
Jace Lopez
I think you'll come to find that atheist logic, is just that. Logic.
>he doesn't realise that it doesn't matter if God exists or not >he doesn't realise that the bible (and any other religious texts) can be interpreted just as any other text, and be applied to your life. >he doesn't realise that there is a reason that every society has independently developed a god, even if that reason is not that a God exists. >he doesn't realise that there is a reason that these societies hold onto their gods. the societies with the notion of a god survive. Nu-Atheists are pretty dumb for discounting religion as withered and useless.
William Wright
>he doesn't realise that there is a reason that every society has independently developed a god, even if that reason is not that a God exists.
But the Hindu deva and the Shinto kami barely resemble the Abrahamic God, and they serve totally different social roles in those societies.

The chad occultist >understands the universe in ways science can never hope to >creates his own covenants with higher powers, does not bow to existing power structures >alters reality through sheer force of will >leaves his knowledge in obscure metaphors in internet pdfs so that only the few can access them How can mainstream ideologies even compete?
Ian Walker
I'm a dedicated occultist and none of that stuff applies to me, except maybe the covenants with higher powers one. Even then, if the spirits I work with got their way with the world, man, it would be a bad time for us.
Thomas Campbell
Try working with nicer spirits, firstly because they're more powerful.
Andrew Bennett
I'd like to see you prove god

>imagine being an atheist instead of being agnostic or religious
Indeed.. atheists are the dumbest fucking people i"ve ever encountered.
