Gamergate is embarrassing because it was the confirmation that the Jow Forums's user base had lost whatever balls they might have once had, that they were no longer a group of unidentifiable edgy trolls ready to fuck with people for the lulz -lulz wasn't even a thing anymore by that point-, but a bunch of insecure young men looking for approval and someone to follow.
Instead of owning up to the fact that GG was a revolt against a clique of liberal fucks inserting their bullshit into the videogame industry, they tried to pretend it was about ethics, and rather than trolling the shit out of those faggots, their big plan was to throw bags of money to some random feminist group to show their progressiveness, and to prop up a flaming nigger loving literal fag, who didn't even care about games at all, as one of their leaders, all to appear inclusive and non threatening.
Now, their opponents might have been a group of limp wristed male feminists and psychotic bitches, but even them could smell their weakness and went in for the kill. The whole thing was decided in the first week, and only dragged on due to the small industry that formed around it in the form of cancerous e-celebs peddling drama, of which the less said the better.
