OP, you got to stop being boring first. Read some good literary books (not sci-fi). Watch some good non-commercial movies. Think about how they make you feel, how they probably would make others feel. After a few years, you will have genuinely compelling things to say.

ive utilized games and gaming groups as my last remaining avenue to socialize with people. i went this shut-in escapist route right after a last batch of personal/educational/professional failures to drove me to robot life
maybe the fact I had a chain of girlfriends and regular sex in the past made it possible for me to size up any girl in an online gaming group to the tune of:

every goodamn time I'd be in a purpose-driven leadership position and manage-a-girl-to-accomplish-a-task she'd resent me for "not treating her nicely" whereas men routinely respond to constructive criticism
there has been a minority of women encountered in gaming groups that have been competent but they've usually entered on the coattails of a boyfriend - and it seems like their level of effort is correlated to a desire to "be good at the things he likes"
and none of this really relates to your perceived problem... doesn't matters what you're interested as long as you can speak and frame things in a way that are of interest to her. Framing "vidya" as a topic of interest to a girl is going to have diminishing returns as you age. if you're young and, say, both participated in the same game, same community, same clans - you could be interesting to her discussing how you are a skillful and respected community/clan leader
It's about what makes YOU a king swinging dick in whatever circle you're a part of: that could be "community manager, streamer personality" even to a gamer girl - but obviously there are better hobbies/involvements to have to gain sexual market value.

I wasn't clear. The girls who play vidya suck as people, not at vidya (although probably that too). OP is asking the wrong question. He needs to learn how to suck less rather than looking for people who suck worse than him.
