I did few sets of chin-ups to failure yesterday and my lats are killing me now.
I could try a full bodyweight routine but I'm too fat to do handstand push-ups and my balance is too shit for good leg exercises.

You will never achieve a body as good as is possible bodybuilding with only bodyweight eventually you will need to do weighted calisthenics, accessories, and weighted leg exercises. Not only that but it take 2-3x as long to achieve similar results with calisthenics compared to bodybuilding. Get a gym membership and you can do calisthenics stuff, bodybuilding stuff, oly lifts, powerlifting you have all of it available to you. Only reason to do purely calisthenics is if you are a poorfag

there's literally no reason not to use every tool you have available including heavy compounds. they make all lifts more loadable and more progressible. most arguments for calisthenics being superior surround picking examples of calisthenics people who are strong and aesthetic. they exist, but they could have achieved more, faster if they hadn't neglected useful training tools.
i will also add that i've known 2 guys who did calisthenics seriously (easy front levers etc), one of whom was a gymnast, and both hardly looked like they lifted. worked with the other one (physical labour job) and he wasn't as capable as me, someone who is big on weighted calisthenics as part of a broader weights routine. i know that the three of us are isolated examples and that this anecdote means nothing, but it doesn't surprise me is what i'm saying.

why not do weighted calisthenics plus deadlifts and OHP if you're so concerned about your delts, traps and other 'bloated' look? you'll be stronger and you'll probably look better.
