I have, and it does work. I have trouble focusing and get easily distracted, so maintaining eye contact helps me actively listen. Furthermore, people respect confidence and maintaining eye contact is deemed confident / strong (it's literally a threat in the animal kingdom). So, more respect from the bros and more admiration from the ladies.
I had a severe bout of depression after 3 lots of tragedy in my life within 2 weeks, and it was one of the things that helped me pull myself out of it.

i usually look away for a short period, could be at anything really as long as its something and not a wall then return to eye contact.

Does anyone else look away for a short while when you notice it’s making the other person uncomfortable cause they can’t keep eye contact with you?

That's the thing, you can't impose eye contact on another person. They can just look away. It takes both of you to hold eye contact. You're not doing anything they're not doing. It's not a loophole, it's the nature of the contact.

I relate to this. I can always maintain strong eye contact, but I feel bad when I make the other person nervous and look away. Like, I don’t want to be dominant over someone, I just want to be their equal and enjoy each other’s interaction without any sort of competitive drive between the two. Women I’ll stare down all day unless they start to bore me idgaf about them
