learn actual medieval history
yes plate armor can stop a longbow but in many cases soldiers were too poor to afford chestplate and had to settle with leather or padded armor

it was only knights and the rich who could afford full suits of armor that could defend their bodies

>pollaxe
a poleaxe?
what about a morningstar?

Getting into archery gave me crazy back gains, would recommend/10

There's this, but there's also the fact that people who cite OP's video as evidence the longbow wasn't an effective weapon against plated knights and that events such as Agincourt are overhyped are just stupid and can't comprehend how things would actually be on a battlefield.

Yes the ability of a longbow to pierce full plate is dubious, but if you're a knight atop a horse and entire volleys of this shit start raining down on you you're fucked. Chances are at least one will land where it'll hurt, debilitate, or kill, and there's no way your horse isn't going to immediately flip shit. At this point you and all your knight buddies are fucked and left floundering in mud while slowly getting picked off with each volley.

technically pollaxe is correct I believe, though most people do call it a poleaxe
a morningstar is a fine sidearm, but doesn't have the same versatility or leverage of a polearm

See en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Agincourt

in op's video I don't think they actually say that the longbow wasn't effective, the archer basically says that the best technique would just be to fire arrows until one slipped under the plate, and right through the mail

People who use this video to cite that longbows weren't effective are literal brainlets. Battlefields aren't so black and white, and there is all manner of shit that is going down at once.

>using shit that lucifer would use

Bruh...

Seems fun but i'd have a hard time justifying it as a hobby, especially since i could be learning to use a gun for defense, or just biking or hiking for fun.

Any lads for some mordhau?

would you a female knight?

It's still a more productive hobby than any amount of time spent here tho.

I've learned English with Jow Forums, so I regard the time spent as pretty useful. Now I can read the English classics in English and it's due to the continuous exposition to the language with this site. I just finished David Copperfield, by Dickens.

>exposition
Exposure is the word you're looking for

Not yet but I took the neck pill about a week ago and I already see progress

Nah. Horsebows ftw.

I prefer a dane axe. Slash rather than smash.

If you're a knight in full plate, you have bigger issues than bows. Guns is what you should watch out for.

dang

Someone redpill me on archery. I've been thinking of starting it as a hobby for a while now.

Great vid.

Good indication of how well designed plate armour of around that period was at not just stopping arrows from longbows but also deflecting debris out and away from the neck and underside of the head.

You know we are talking about the medieval period right?

If anything it gave you an imbalanced

What do you think came first?
Shitty guns and artillery, or a man wearing a close fitted metal cage of extreme artisan quality?

Metal man is also going to be immune to:
1. Man carried boomsticks
2. Shrapnel
3. Slings
4. Darts and Javelins
5. Arrows

Competitive archery is just LARPing the same sport that competitive gunners are in.
Trick shooting is fun.
Hunting with bows is illegal quite a few places for anything larger than birds, since there is a good chance you are going to miss and they run off or maul you.

Thanks. See, you never stop learning on this website

What’s wrong with what he said? Leather armour is a thing lmao

Looks kind of like Nilfgaard armor

Of the five points he won't be completely immune to any of these and vulnerable to at least 1.

It's a lot of fun. I really enjoy it

>Competitive archery is just LARPing the same sport that competitive gunners are in.
You know archery competitions have been around longer than firearm competitions, right?
