>if you take even just a week off, you'll lose 3lbs of muscle
wtf bros
a year of effort can be undone in just a week
STOP RESTING RIGHT NOW
>subjected to 1 week of strict bed rest
Yeah that's not what anyone means by "resting"
>get sick
>Takes a week to recover
>Lose a year of gains
Too many gains goblins it's not even worth it
The honest truth is that if you don’t work out a muscle for one week you will start to lose mass. Not three muscles worth but a bit. I am taking a rest day because my shoulder hurts but make no mistake I’ll be hitting it tomorrow
Exacerbating an injury will hurt your gains a lot more in the long run than taking time to recover. Stay safe, bud.
If you lose your gains after a week of no exercise you arent making any progress, that shit is temporary
>3lbs mass
>years worth of gains
the medical consensus is with peak hormones/genetics/sleep/diet/training natties can put on 25lbs of lean mass a year, so an average natty with very good diet and training could easily manage 15lbs
also this study is basically talking about coma patients, bedridden people rapidly age and rapidly cannibalize muscle. your average guy taking a week off for tendonitis or whatever doesn't cause any atrophy at all
>tfw leg stress fracture and cant do barbell lifts for another week minimum but probably another few weeks.
What are some upper body dumbbell exercises I can do so I can at least keep some of my gains?
>the medical consensus is with peak hormones/genetics/sleep/diet/training natties can put on 25lbs of lean mass a year, so an average natty with very good diet and training could easily manage 15lbs
if you're a noobie never been in a gym in your life DYEL
no, iirc the study was adjusted for noob gains, and averaged over something like a 5 year period.
again, 25lbs/year is for elite level genetics with elite level training, but if you're only putting on 3lbs/year, you're the fuckin dyel lmao
Why do we bother deloading! REEEEEEE!!!11ONEONEONE
can you link it? that seems like a fucking lot post noob gains if true
>Totally backs off study
Yeah and?
Pray for me anons. I've been on bed for the last week and I have 10 more days. How can I cope with this bullshit? Luckily I started lifting 3 months ago so I guess I won't lose too much if any muscle at all. Since I'm not doing jacked shit I'm keto+ fasting so I can lose some kilos
That's rough, dude. Rest up, get better, and always be sure to listen to your body. I'll do a set for you tomorrow.
Thx user
Damn that sucks dude, what did you do?
And fasting fags think they dont lose muscle not eating for an entire week!
RIP GAINS
In a rugby match. Minor fibula fracture. Luckily I don't need surgery for it
How do your legs affect your bench press?
I'm not even gonna bother reading the article. I took a year off of training for work and personal reasons and it only took me a little over a month to get back where I left off.
ask me how I know your bench from is utter garbage
I've been working on it admittedly, but even with my revised form I don't use my legs that much other then unracking the weight
Is there something I should be doing during reps? I'm genuinely asking
study creates the basis for further testing; however, it's conclusion is nothing like you present.
to test what you're stating as truth, the study would have to use a recovery period, a wash out, and then routine restart versus no recovery period, a wash out, and then routine restart versus control, gauging relative losses versus gains to quantify actual harm from bed rest.
instead all this study does is confirm that bed rest for 7 weeks does indeed negatively affect your health, nothing new.
google "leg drive"
>Take 2 weeks off
>Muscle mass went down but I could lift heavier weights
