NEET life General

>NEET life General

It's been awhile since we've had another NEET life / passive income thread

For those of you that want to live more freely:
>What is your plan?
>How far are you along?
>When is your freedom date?

For those of you that are NEET
>How did you do it?
>How long did it take?
>What is your lifestyle like?
>What are the upsides / downsides of your life?

As for me, I'm about 3 years from freedom. My plan has been to build up passive income so I could live off of it.

>Also, this is a general thread about escaping society and work-freedom.

Also thought I'd share this video - been recently following this guy and later in the year, I'm going to attempt to get one of these lower-cost homes

Another video for those of you that want to escape the city life

youtu.be/-EN0zbwnC8s

Personally, this lifestyle is a bit extreme for me, but might be ok for those of you that want to escape the rat race faster.

Not a NEET and not interested in societal meaning of NEET, but let's give it a go regarding passive income.

>What is your plan?
Currently working a wagecuck job, first year. Going to invest free time into becoming a capable self-employed freelancer (hopefully starting 2020) and see from there, since freelancing is going to increase my net income by as much as 3x my current (even 2x is a good increase) in my branch (software dev). Save over 70% and invest, continue to live frugally as I do now. Maybe move to a cheaper location once I'm there and find something nice.

>How far are you along?
Just started. My savings rate is good. Already orienting on the freelance market. Hard to find information. Got the basics down, just need to increase my wage now and maybe find other interesting revenue streams to build capital.

>When is your freedom date?
if everything works out without changes, could be as quick as 5 years without insane investments. I expect many things to change being young, but I don't mind not being completely independent, just enough to have the power to say "fuck you" to any complete cunt and invest in things I want to do.

Nice - I'm in software as well. It's a good choice, especially for freelancers.

lmao OP how much do you have saved now? What revenue streams are you going to open to keep earning money once you are "free".

In reality you will never be financially free

I've tried these types of threads a few times and am always surprised that they don't get the interest they deserve.

I'd think that out of all the boards, r9k would be the most interested it passive income and NEET life.

Quite a bit. My passive income is already a couple grand from rental properties.

> In reality you will never be financially free
Watch the first video I posted, my strategy involves rental homes. This is what will keep the cash rolling in.

What do you know about property management? You don't think all prop owners just kick back and relax all the time do you?

Thanks. What's your experience so far? Originally I wanted to go into gamedev, got a master's in CS with gamedev as focus but with how bad the gamedev industry is I got into a super boring backend / semi-fullstack webdev job. It's a little insane to me how big the differences are between wage and freelance in Europe.

I told my mom I'll kill myself when she stops providing for me and then she started crying and said she'd provide for me forever.
Easiest way to ensure freedom.

Attached: 1542064192721.png (900x1024, 926K)

The nature of my work makes it so that it is very easy to find 1-3 years contracts that make enough money to finance 6-12 months doing nothing in between plus some for retirement.
I love the NEET life but I usually get bored after a few months so it's a perfect rythm for me.

I've done it myself for a few years, but now I'm using a company to do it. It's not 100% hands-off but really it's just a phone call every copule of months and some paperwork for taxes

Yes, the games industry is a ghetto, in my viewpoint. You're much better of doing almost anything else.

That's a great way to go, honestly. If you like your job and aren't a slave to it, you're very lucky

You have managed props but never owned them? And having insight you think it is just making phone calls?

How much capital do you have and how many props will you acquire? How will you get out from under the massive loan the bank will give you?

Why are you so bitter and salty lol

She won't live forever, so you won't be financially free.

I still want to go into gamedev, but not as a full time job, that's for sure. Maybe make a game as a hobby and sell it sometime as an Indie, but the whole industry is immensely cowboy right now. Expecting it to crumble anytime soon, probably when the next depression hits.

based
he'll probably kill himself after she dies

She'll live for 3 or 4 more decades and then I'll kill myself, that's more than enough freedom for me since I'm already considering offing myself before 30 anyway.

>What is your plan?
Become a landlord with my brother.
>How far are you along?
Wife and I have $120k saved up; brother has $60k saved up. When he's at 80k and when I'm at 150k, we'll put money down on a property.
>When is your freedom date?
Couple years from now?

I'll still have to work, though. Passive income will only give me partial freedom. But right now I'm saving 70% of my income - with rental income it will be a lot higher.
>When is your freedom date?

Attached: 1557782881928.jpg (640x1136, 65K)

Oh okay, fair enough. It's too bad you're willing to prolong her suffering for 3 or 4 more decades though. Plus, how do you know what her job prospects and physical capability will be in 3 or 4 decades?

NEET here.

>How did you do it?
Got diagnosed with Atypical Autism, aka PDD-NOS. The diagnostic criteria for that diagnosis is so broard it's applicable to pretty much everybody.

>How long did it take?
A little over a year of job-related simulations/tasks, interviews, and psychological assessments.

>What is your lifestyle like?
Pretty comfy. I live in a 750 SF, two-bedroom apartment and own a car. I receive $2,150 and have $1,100 left after all fixed expenses are paid. I will continue to receive this until the day I die, assuming society doesn't collapse in the meantime.

>What are the upsides / downsides of your life?
The upsides is that I don't have to deal with people and I can sleep in. The downside is that a lack of routine tends to cause me to spend all day doing nothing. I've been trying to finish Red Dead Remeption 2 since October but I don't have the time because I waste all day every day procrastinating.

Logic is bitter and salt now? Wew lad good luck with your early retirement if this is how you deal with a couple of real questions

>It's too bad you're willing to prolong her suffering for 3 or 4 more decades though.
It was her decision to have a kid so she should be prepared for all the possible consequences having a kid has.
>Plus, how do you know what her job prospects and physical capability will be in 3 or 4 decades?
I don't and I don't care, 1 decade is enough and even if I can't make it that decade then I'll just kill myself. My life is meaningless to me, I have no trouble ending it any moment.

Attached: 1546173277343.png (427x604, 297K)

>all these people talking about property ownership
How do you know it'll be so good? I live in a small rural town and from what I hear property ownership is a shitfest here, practically no good tenants. I guess I just kind of assumed good tenants are hard to come by everywhere.

>I've been trying to finish Red Dead Remeption 2 since October
I am very curious about your life, non ironically.

>1 decade is enough
It seems that way now, until that decade nears its end.
I was suicidal at 18 but made a deal with myself that I would keep living until I was 21. By the time I turned 21, I had moved my target date to 25. At 25, it became 30. In the meantime, I started to realize that time was flying and now I'm definitely, totally going to kill myself at 50.

>It was her decision to have a kid so she should be prepared for all the possible consequences having a kid has.
I agree - she should be prepared. But that still doesn't answer why you're preparing her for the worst of them, which was my question.

Attached: 1557012346300.png (640x640, 255K)

Because in my city, people pay a lot for even shithole places and even the shithole places are filled immediately when you put an ad up.

Cuz you're a pussy. I'm not though.
>But that still doesn't answer why you're preparing her for the worst of them, which was my question.
Because I value my freedom too much and obtaining money is too much effort and suffering?

Attached: 1529806855096.png (642x846, 406K)

>Because I value my freedom too much and obtaining money is too much effort and suffering?
Oh okay. Well anyway, retarded parents who raise retards like you deserve to suffer anyway. Make it hell for her.

Attached: 1557473867340.jpg (1006x1024, 84K)

So you want to own prop just don't want to own the shitty prop. What makes you believe you can afford prop when 90% of are merely financing it?

>What makes you believe you can afford prop when 90% of are merely financing it?
What makes you think I can't with these savings? And what makes you think even if I didn't need another $100k, between my brother and myself it would take only 2 more years since we save 70% of our income?

Attached: milkenemafortv.jpg (675x553, 50K)

If cost of living is so high in general though that even shitholes are a lot, how can you know that decent tenants will move in?

Well it's not really because of the way she raised me, she just had insufficient understanding of genetics and couldn't know that having children with a schizophrenic bipolar paranoid father could lead to schizoid offspring.

Attached: 1541973612268.png (670x934, 552K)

>If cost of living is so high in general though that even shitholes are a lot
Well, shitholes are a lot but nice places (like the one we'll buy) are even more.
>how can you know that decent tenants will move in?
I'll start by immediately disqualifying all niggers and pajeets, for one.

I feel pretty content but the reality is that I'm probably depressed. Not depressed as in sad, but depressed as in clinically depressed. I have zero motovation to do anything. I wake up between 10 and 12 and spend 3-4 hours in bed masturbating and phoneposting before getting up. Then I spend an hour eating breakfast, then procrastinste for another hour before brushing my teeth.

I find it near impossible to muster the willpower to do even the things I enjoy.

I get you, I was the same until I realised that seeing a psy was sort of whatever last ditch before offing myself. It turned out fixing myself was not as hard as I thought once I had a bit of guidance, so what I'm saying is just go and say what you wrote to some sort of counsellor and you may actually turn out well.

Have no idea how to get a passive income. I have like $2000 in BTC and $600 in ARK (meme shitcoin, should have kept in BTC)

Havent had a job for more than 6 months. Huge gaps in employement. I'm trying to get hired as a correctional officer since you dont need any education or experience and it starts at $4000 a month ($3000 while training).
If this doesnt work out though, I have to either cash out my crpyto or get a wagecuck job and give up on life.

I guess I'll do these too
>For those of you that want to live more freely:
>>What is your plan?
I dont have one but I want to be more free

0%
>>When is your freedom date?
The same as my expiration date

>For those of you that are NEET
>>How did you do it?
Quit my job and moved back in with mom
>>How long did it take?
Not long. Just drove from where I was working back to my moms house, and was officially a NEET from the second I stepped into her door.
>>What is your lifestyle like?
wake up
play video games
watch anime
sometimes play guitar
listen to 70-80's jpop
eat once a day
sleep for 12 hours
>>What are the upsides / downsides of your life?
Upsides: I can just do whatever I want all day
Downsides: no gf, cant afford hookers, the longer I stay a NEET the harder it gets to get back into society, and I realize that I cant be a NEET forever

>Have no idea how to get a passive income
Watch the original videos and stuff I posted. Rental property is a great place to start.

I left my good job in my hometown and now want to quit this new one far away from my family and friends, all in the hopes I continue my higher education. My boss is just a piece of shit always not wanting me to do well. I just fucking know it. I'm gonna give this one go and if he doesn't change I'm quitting. Fuck that shit,an. I'd rather have my dignity's than money.

If you're a wagecuck, youre not a fucking neet

Of course, not yet. But I think he's definitely on his way to becoming a fully-independent NEET if he wants.

I mean, other than winning the lotto, how else can you go NEET in the long-term? Gotta work for it

>>What is your plan?

wagecuck as a software engineer until I'm 40 then retire with at least $2m in today's dollars

>>How far are you along?

Only 24 right now and have like 70k net worth (started -30k a bit less than 2 years ago)

>>When is your freedom date?

hopefully by 2035

Why are Yurop salaries so low? I see people making like 30k starting as software devs while it's 4x that in murricuh

what language do you use? i work using javascript exclusively, and only make $16/hr after taxes. this is after 5 years work experience also

Life is cheaper, health care is top notch. When I was living alone in a medium city I was paid like 25k and still saved 20-25% easily.

>30k starting as software devs while it's 4x that in murricuh
what the fuck are you talking about?

see: i make $19 per hour ($16/hr after taxes) as a javascript developer making software for the government. it's after years of experience too

>work till i save 10-15
>stark mortgage on duplex
80-120k range
>make at ;east 600 in profits monthly
and do it again and there i go
and in 20 years it would be double the sheckles

No one wants to rent in some shitty 80k house.

I hold chainlink

Attached: 1553096029532.png (888x894, 520K)

I shitty house is 10-15k here and still rent able for $500 you stupid cunt fuck you

It depends on your country really. My own country, NL, overvalues managers and salesmen while undervaluing tech people (both blue and white collars), plus there isn't a whole lot of interesting work, so mine is about 30-40k as a starter yearly, as Msc graduate. Probably work way under my level too but it's not much better elsewhere, moving to Germany alone would net me 10-20k more.
Then there is taxes. Income taxes in most European countries is insane, but it pays for most of education, health care, services and social security. Most companies also add to your retirement funds which Europeans don't tend to take into account in their total package.

Though it's true if you are any good, the US has way, way better packages for software devs and better work, even after accounting for potential overtime. If you want to cheat life and you can do it as a software dev, best thing to do is aim high in the US, earn there, live very frugally for a few years and then go to a cheaper country. The only way you could reach that in most European countries is self-employment, because the self-employed command much higher pays and pay less tax due to all the benefits (at least in NL), and you'll still get most public services. Europeans are also risk averse and love insuring about anything even if the odds of it happening and the impact are so small it's less costly to just take the risk.

In general, in Europe the floor wage is higher, but if you know more than Javascript (Java, .NET, Python, Ruby, C++ for example) and know your basics (design patterns, language-agnostic stuff) you can command a much higher salary and QoL in the US with favorable location, save a higher amount and gtfo to a cheaper country

>aim high in the US, earn there, live very frugally for a few years and then go to a cheaper country
OP here. Based post, this is very true. I've been reading a lot about how seaside villages in Spain are incredibly cheap to live in. And that's not even the end-all, if you want rock-bottom, Serbia and the Balkans seem the lowest in Europe.

Phillipines, then fuck 18 year old pinoy girls for like $30

There is no house that costs 10k, you retard. Stop using the $ symbol when referring to your third world shithole.

Sure, the Philippines may be cheaper, but personally, I wouldn't real-deal live anywhere in Asia. Plus I'm a white guy of Slavic descent, so Eastern Europe is breddy comfy, provided I steer clear of political hotzones

Not him, but in the US, you can find homes for about that much. They will need fixups, but still will be rentable for at least 500 a month.

There is no house in the US for 10k that will ever be in a condition to rent.

I live in america
and the good part where a shitty house doesn't cost more than 10-15k

You can find nice houses in nc for 10-15k that need redone and you can have that done for 10k or less

I'd disagree. If it's 10k flat with no fixups, it wouldn't be easy, but you can probably find it. Again, check out the first vid I posted. This guy does these low-cost homes a lot. Personally, the lowest I've seen is 10k for acquisition plus maybe 5k to do carpet change, paint, etc.

Problem being there still visa requirements but just for the sake of argument, if any US person could share a mid-end/high-end wage for a mid-level developer in a region that isn't impossible to get to, compare it to one of the best scenarios you could have in the Netherlands as a developer in their 20s:
>Self-employed, earn 65-75 an hour, lowball on 65 and you are able to declare 47 weeks of 40 hours, aka 1880 hours (baseline)
>After the whole mess that is taxes, reductions and whatever, you end up with 70k take-home pay, before funding your costs
>Living on your own frugally with roommates, let's say costs are 1000 a month including some minor luxuries. Highballing on purpose, could be 600-700, could be 500.
>You end up with 58k at the end of it all, or $65k.
I'm sure most of Europe is similar to this, in the range of 1-10k more.

That's not bad, but I'm 100% a US developer can beat that as a starter, and will have a much, much higher roof, with equal skill and drive, with better benefits and once you get the job, all you have to do is keep the job and you're golden, you won't have any stress of being self-employed. I wager the less interesting spots in the US will have to follow a similar route going self-employed. It will take a few more years in the EU, but at least you have a bit more safety. I can't say how hours and free time would be in the US comparatively though.

Just do me a favour - link me to any sort of real estate listing that advertises a house at 10k that any renter would want to pay for. I'm sure all you'll find are bottom-of-the-barrel dumpster fires.

Obviously, the MLS may not have this, you have to either advertise yourself or work with a wholesaler. The best prices are always off-market.

greenville.craigslist.org/reo/d/calhoun-falls-fixer-upper/6883992463.html

also this

Now going on my first year on disability benefits living the NEET life, wish I could work again honestly but I can't shake my anxiety and random panic attacks that almost make me pass out multiple times a day. I also feel quite alone because of sometimes not leaving the house for days. Besides that I now have plenty of time to finish all the Halo games on legendary and I don't have to deal with an asshole boss and shitty work.

The plan is therapy for my anxiety but that's going reaaall slow.

>greenville.craigslist.org/reo/d/calhoun-falls-fixer-upper/6883992463.html
Holy shit. Clearly I was wrong, but I cannot imagine someone actually paying to live in a total shithole like that, in which no matter how many repairs are done, it'll always be a shit-show with poor foundation. Still though I was wrong.

What compels people to pay for that shit anyway? I pay $1200 a month and live in a $2m property next to the second largest shopping centre in my country.

>80k house
>shitty
zillow.com/homedetails/564-Wildwood-Acres-Rd-Franklin-NC-28734/65636278_zpid/?

yeah that houe rents in between 450-600 btw
with around 3k in repairs you wouldn't need to worry about it for around 10 years

Doesn't look a whole lot worse than the house I rent now, and it's $550 a month

My parents own like 12 properties. My plan is to wait until they die and leave half to me/half to my sister. I sell one and rent the others for passive income. Basically I have an easy way to not work down the line.

chance are it's actually decent on the inside to

That is a shitty place. Looks like the walls are about to cave in on themselves. Air and water and utilities are probably shit. Total dumpster fire. I can be honest when I'm wrong (like I already did in this thread), but that's a sack of shit house. I underestimated how shitty a place renters are willing to live in.

>1200 a month for a 2m property
how

>Looks like the walls are about to cave in on themselves
how?

Here's a great one
zillow.com/homedetails/16-Pinecrest-Cir-Franklin-NC-28734/65635052_zpid/?

Old and brittle. Looks like a gust of wind would destroy that place.

I'm great at negotiating.

1991 and it doesn't look particularly strong but defiantly not brittle

>I'm great at negotiating.
so you're a """fembot""" that sucks your landlord's dick

>next to the second largest shopping centre in my country.
yeah, fuck living in a big city

Oh sure, from a working perspective, the US has got Europe beat just from a money and cost of living perspective.

I guess I was referring to my "post-work" life, the NEET portion where you live off of passive income. When you work in the US for a time and then bail out to a seaside village, it would be a great combo.

based
mountain living is where it's at

>What is your plan?

Does working at home count? I've been working at this call center as a 3rd party for over a year and realized they have a work at home position if I just work for them directly. It'll be easy peasy getting it since I've already been working for them for a year (just out of state) but they in order for this to work I have to go to another state and live on my own.

Which I don't think I'm ready for. But this is the only legit work from home job that I've found that I already have experience working for anyway that pays $15/hr.

>so you're a """fembot""" that sucks your landlord's dick
If I were a fembot, I probably would. Or I'd just marry rich. Life on easy mode.

I paid 1.5 years of rent at once to knock the price down.

>yeah, fuck living in a big city
Then don't, but it still increases the value of rent - and to be able to get a 1200/month rate on a $2m property in this area means I feel sorry for someone paying 600 to live in a total shithole.

>download grinder

>and to be able to get a 1200/month rate on a $2m property in this area means I feel sorry for someone paying 600 to live in a total shithole.
i don't understand. what is so great about you area?

i pay $700 a month, but i'm not at risk of violent crime or anything. i have electricity, internet, and not a far drive from food

what is a "shithole" exactly, besides the ghetto?

anything that's not in a major city and worth any less than 1m

>anything that's not in a major city
why would something be better for being in a major city?
i'd rather live in a small town, within 5 miles of a supermarket, than live in a big city

> worth any less than 1m
if you're renting, why does it matter? i live in an apartment

>not in a major city and worth any less than 1m
the same exact house, literally identical, may cost 5 times as much in a big city compared to in a small town though

same with property near the beach. a $100,000 home regularly is $500,000 near a beach

Wagecucking software developer role. I have encyclopedic memory and no life, so they appreciate me. They keep trying to push me towards tech lead, but I am socially retarded. Obviously the money would be great, but I much prefer telling computers what to do to telling people what to do.

A couple of years ago I started reading about FIRE. It's what I want, to just retire in the middle of nowhere, away from everyone, maybe with a dog, and a good internet connection. But I've ran the numbers, and realistically we're talking 55 years old. Which is depressing. Waste the best years of my life working. Or what? NEET isn't a better prospect. At least I can afford nice alcohol and drugs and whatever computer/TV/vidya I want.

not even him i just replied what i knew he'd say

Also disabled, still suffering from delusions of being able to work. How do you deal with it?

What branch and MOS user? Any tips on getting sweet sweet disabilitybux?
I'm an army 11b trying to figure out a way to use my service to become a NEET or at least get a decent career afterwards. I have 10k in savings right now, no debt, no car, and about 3 and a half years left on my 4 and a half year contract.

Just a quick suggestion - get a duplex/tri/quad with your VA loan. Live in one unit and rent out the rest for extra income
