Was really hoping to see better footwork from him with his new training and all. And to fail a deadlift that should be well within his range is strange. He just seemed off and tired.

What happened is him and a few other strongmen have their own TV show on the History channel now and are getting paid just for lifting weights and eating on camera now so all that hard training for weeks for a competition to make less money than they make on a TV show is gone now.

He looked pretty yoked at the Arnold this past March, but you could definitely see him starting to tire. He's accomplised a lot in his career. He doesn't have anything to prove to anyone.

This years events were shitty. The finals seemed like a stripped down budget version of WSM. No bus pulls, no keg toss, just some squats and carries and presses. Kinda lame.

He made huge improvements in his squats. He's hungry, I expect him to keep improving.

There were a lot of issues with the final. Five events in one day, instead of six spread over two? Also, no max lift. Usually, there has been a deadlift for max or an overhead for reps, or the other way around. This time, there was a (really heavy, I'll give them that) squat for reps, and the overhead was a medley for time. Say what you will about the bus/truck/plane pull, but the max lift is more essential.

After WSM he only competed in Icelands strongest man. There were like 3 Arnolds and 2 Giants Live events since.

I mean, he's improving. At Giants Live he got 400 kg and almost 420 kg. On recent Arnold he did 4 reps of 365 kg while winner did 7.

I don't say he's better than Big Z, because he didn't have much success in Arnold, but why do people hate on him? He was strong as fuck, won a lot and his looks + strength promoted strongmen all over the world.

Yep, he's basically reason majority of people even heard of Strongman. After he retired, interest in strongman died down and only Bjornsson fame from Game of Thrones revived public interest in the sport.

They’re all cheating. Does it look any better that some of them die in their 30s and 40s? Competitors know the risks, just like American Football, and spectators are willfully ignorant if they don’t recognize that everyone is in gear and risking their lives to be the best.
