Life is tough for a lefty who hates political correctness.
Don't get me wrong, I don't hate brown people, or women, or gays or trans or poors (I am 3 of those in fact). But I wish we were more free to talk about those.
I'm trying to launch a career as a writer. I got an unpaid gig at a video game site with ~2000 weekly readers. Not a lot, but it's a foot in the door right? And I wanna write thoughtful, provocative stuff. But then the editor gets all up in my ass if I write the word "nigger". Not calling anyone a nigger, mind you, just saying the word in an academic context.
This is so exhausting. I'm gonna give it a year, work my ass off to have a portfolio on someone else's hosting and see how much that raises my online profile. Then I'm gonna either wait for them to get serious and profesional, or go off on my own. Start a youtube channel, talk about fucking pornogrind and death metal and huniepop and nobody will be able to stop me.
Which 3? Also why are you using bigger for a video game site?
Parker Parker
I'm curious, what do you typically write about?
Joseph Allen
Why do you need to spell out the word anyways? You could type it out as "n*****" or just say n-word and everyone would understand.
Jace Flores
I'm mostly into high level design themes and thematic analysis of plots. To give you an idea of what I'm working on: I'm working ona piece about the evolution of UI and also a piece about the original Red Dead and how it contrasts with spaghetti westerns.
I was writing a piece about Saints Row and race.
Hunter Lewis
Ok, I'm going to take a shot in the dark right now; can you be my girlfriend?
Connor Cooper
Now see why would you be writing about that? You're treading close to what I hate about journalism in general
Lucas White
IDK I found it interesting. I love the saints row series, I and I found it really interesting how it went from everything I hate in games (a shitty GTA knock off trading on gang imagery) to a really lovley, wacky, nice game series that felt really nice and inclusive to play. It meant something to me, I really like those games.
I'm sorry user, I'm not on HRT or planning to, so I couldn't really. But I'm flattered.
Luke Williams
You're creating talking points about sensitive issues Not just reporting them
David Lewis
So you're a poor brown gay then? Damn... that's the combination I expected the least...
Lincoln Stewart
Just pay a black person to give you an n-word pass. Unless your boss is also black he has to accept it
Connor Nelson
Well I never called myself a journalist, I'm a writer first and foremost. Supernep RPG and Bloodstained just came out, but I've nothing to say about those. I see little reason to write fluff pieces about them saying "Bloodstained is a thing" and "Nep RPG sure looks pretty".
I'm not looking or outrage clicks either, I just write about what seems interesting to me like I said. I don't think anyone's gonna get hot and bothered about a piece comparing red dead to spaghetti western's either, but I like those films and I didn't like Red Dead so I'm writing about it.
Cameron Lewis
I don't have issue with most of that I'm just concerned about you writing an article about a clear hot topic issue and needing to use nigger That is clickbait
Going to be honest with ya, no one gets to say nigger in a public space nowadays, save for actual niggers calling each other nigger. The political climate is ever shifting to the left, towards more and more censorship of speech and thought. Even if you want to say nigger in a non-racist context, you can't.
Don't wait a year so you can start your youtube channel. Start it now, and take the first year experience. It takes time to grow one, you'll have tons of stuff to learn along the way.
Writting is good and all but as a culture we are past that. If you want to influence people, do so through videos. That's why one of the word for youtubers is influencers.
You have a goal, a road. Follow it. Most people don't have the luxury of having a passion to follow. Good luck.
Well, the "nigger thing" was mostly an example not a cornerstone. It was in the article, but it's not what ticked me off (it also wasn't on the headline or the main point, it just was the easiest to explain) I also was asked to not discuss the sex-appeal of the SK games even though... y'know, that's a very important aspect of that. I wrote two articles about Nordic Games' cannibalization of THQ and was FORCED to mention their dumb AMA with that one site (I think this is the word that I'm not allowed to post) even though I don't give a fuck. And so on and so forth.
Also the system thinks this is spam and I dunno why that would be? Maybe someone comes here to advertise their video game website or something idk, I guess I'm gonna talk about how cool Minor Threat are. Ian McKaye's a genius and I wanna meet him some day before he dies.
>But I wish we were more free to talk about those You are, but talk like an idiot, get treated like an idiot. The fact that you bought the political correctness meme is a bad sign

Definitely poor gay tranny. Something about poor trannies that just makes you able to spot them from a mile
Hudson Barnes
why would you ever say nigger? what is the point besides trying to be edgy or shitposting on here
Lincoln Robinson
>talk about fucking pornogrind and death metal Based, but it would be better if you talked about black metal and power electronics too, i would subscribe just for that.
Parker Parker
the fact is slavery happened and people aren't allowed to say nigger anymore. normal people understand this. it's really that fucking simple and defying this taboo won't make you any more special than pretending to be a girl does, snowflake
Daniel Martin
also, there is no "academic context" at your "unpaid gig at a video game site", and there is nothing more unprofessional than using their platform to satisfy your childlike urge to say nigger, and it will never be worth whatever dumbass point you're trying to make.
