This is my experience there too, but it's largely styling and makeup. You'd fall in love on every street in America or Europe too if every single girl put as much effort into their appearance as Japanese girls do. Nothing concrete really happened, her feelings just faded away. Though I am quite sure it's related to her issues with stress. Being with me helped her initially but since her parents heavily disapproved it caused her a lot of distress, combined with her starting uni and getting constantly pressured by deadlines and keeping up her karate performance it just took a toll on her.
