No joke, reminds me of a friend in uni doing some huge computer science related project and tried to organised a large event with speakers from a range of different skill sets in IT.
So he's getting close to the day and he gets an email from some "concerned" individuals that it's a panel of just white males. No idea how they got that given that apparently one of them was asian and two were black out of the 6 or 7 idk. They demanded that he invites more women or they'll have no choice but to cancel his event. He fires back an email advising that he sent out about 50 invites with 20 or so being men with 30 being women and all the women invites said no. Naturally, they say that's not good enough and that he should have "pushed them harder" to come, he reluctantly calls them up since theres no time left and the few he called up said no again anyways mostly due to scheduling conflicts.
They shut it down because "we cannot allow such a blatant lack of minority representation to undermine our current students aspirations".
