Why is every r9k discord trash

I've been in a bunch of Jow Forums servers and I'd say only two of them were decent, mostly small groups of people that come from the board and other shittier servers that have all become friends but not to the point of being circlejerky and rejecting newcomers.

You can always try making your own server and encourage lurking and such. A lot of retards just join up servers and start posting away without trying to get a feel of the place first and deciding if it's worth trying to integrate, that is if they want to do anything other than shitpost. Getting people especially robots is kinda hard but you can just shill here, who gives a shit.

i would never presume it is itself but then even on a shared platform, 2 discord servers can have wildly different expectations on use and outcomes (for example one server i use is all crypto related and is populated by millionaires, another is a retro games server populated by 40yr old permavirgins). the appeal of a server for me would be who was on there, not just the random chance more stuff was coming, though granted it would just be acting as a surrogate for real connections with people.

and youre right about the internet addiction, its very easy to simply click on google or press refresh here whenever youre feeling the urge to actually achieve something.
im lonely as fuck and using these boards is a crutch that so far and probably never will, solve that issue.

i think as long as you use discord for anything but socialising youre fine (same with imageboards) thats why i asked for servers with a topic. i dont want to socialise with robots but id like the users to be relatable even when i talk about interests, since it will impact their point of view and opinions at times. all those people who are using discord to make up for real life connections will be in for a rude awakening. it will not only fuck with you while using it, but it will permanently damage you and leave you traumatized for life. its better to be lonely and staring at the wall until you do something worth doing, thats my experience. and its not just social media, its also porn and videogames, so switching between these thinking youre not addicted is the biggest lie you can tell yourself, since theyre all the same in terms of ruining your dopamine. nevermind actual drugs which also come into play quite often. capitalism made us into premier consumer whores who struggle to find meaning in life beyond instant gratification and its ruining us all. but im not sure quitting cold turkey is an option if youre as far gone as most of us on these boards, we will always just come back eventually. trying to get it under control is our best chance at becoming functional addicts i guess.

I used to have a really nice server. The Casting Couch. Everybody from there died or moved on though. Its a damn shame too, because I've been searching since 2016 yet I just can't find another server that I enjoy. Maybe one day, the server may find me, because I'm starting to get tired of searching.

Does somebody here wanna make a small server, and encourage people after we get a good and small community, IF we let people back in, we can do it 1-2 at a time, and encourage them to lurk for a bit before talking?

The topic would be being a robot. A good server doesn't have 10-15+ plus channels, and categories, etc. A good server has 2-5 channels, and people who actually want to talk to each other about their interests. These servers don't have people who post "memes" to get conversations and get attention.
Good lasting servers don't NEED a topic, and while I suppose it would help it grow at first, I think we could get more enjoyable people (who actually wish to grow a small community to its best potential) by not having a general topic.

I am a CG/mograph artist, and am in a large discord with others in industry so we can share information, like jobs, tips, and share shit from kitbash etc etc..thoughtful, on topic conversations with a dedicated room for retarded spamming and attention whoring (and removal/bans if these rules are violated). Discord itself isnt a terrible tool, but seek a community that isnt full of literal teenagers

I've found that even most of those from this community that are a little bit further away from teenaged (21-25) still have serious mental blocks that make them act like literal teenagers.
