Are the people really as friendly but impersonal as people make out? Speaking as a Britbong, most people need to warm up to you first but Americans are supposedly more open.

Not op, but in my experience, people are either extremely friendly or huge jackasses, and either way, they are impersonal and do NOT want to get to know you

I used to work in a doctors office. With insurance, at a GP youre looking at around $0 to $50 per visit, depending how good your insurance is and a bunch of other factors.

Without insurance most offices will strike you a deal because they make more money just cutting insurance processing out of the equation, so like $200 a visit, depends entirely on the doctor. Specialists obviously cost more.

That's fair enough. If you've ever wondered, Welsh people are just about all rude, and then some will open up and some won't. If you don't have the accent you'll never be seen as a native, either. Good thread!

of course this doesn't apply to all everybody. there are people below the mason-dixon who are assholes and there are people above the mason-dixon who are friendly and not assholes

Speaking as an American now living in Britland, one of the first things I noticed was how hard people are to read, like they are keeping some part of themselves secret or just completely closed off in some subtle way

And nobody really says hello when passing you on the street which is pretty standard in most US towns. Out of habit Ill smile and nod and people in England and only the really old people might smile back

This sums it up, you don't really interact with other pedestrians. Old people are a coin toss, they're either bitter Brexiters or nice and polite.

Yeah this is the truth really. Ive always been a super huge patriot and loved america but it was mostly because of its past, america is fucked right now. Anyone who spouts the whole "america is perfect if you dont like it then get out" is honestly a retard. America very much could be better, but we arent. I think one of the main issues is we havent had a true American president for years. All the newer presidents are just puppets for their party, its been a long time since we've had a president who can resonate with almost everyone in the country.

German here, I feel your pain. We had such great people like Adenauer and Brandt heading our country.

Ya. I've lived in several different states - northeast, south east, midwest, central usa. There are outliers but generally all blacks are objectively trash, especially in the city. Regardless of status, whether they're respectable or garbage, every single black has a ridiculous inferiority complex that just destroys any value and positive qualities they might bring otherwise. They just don't fit in at all and think they're all special, even more than the gays
