No, I've never been to /tv/ and hate /v/. I'm just like this, I have been since birth.
The thing is I'm usually right when I think something's going to suck, or at least that I'm not going to like it. I've been proven wrong before but it's such a rare occurance that I just can't be bothered trying to get into new shit anymore.

3 episode rule, if you're unsure about liking it or disliking the show watch another 3 episodes. It'll only waste an hour or two out of your day and you might end up liking it. Do you like surreal, arthouse stuff like Eraserhead? Evangelion is like that at times, especially so the further you watch.

it isn't as hard to get into as Lain desu. It balances action and character stories/general stories pretty well and doesn't completely rely on weirdness to be entertaining. It's more like a genre parody of mecha anime, but played seriously without becoming a comedy. Don't really know how to sell you on it, all I'd suggest is torrenting a few episodes and trying it out. Sephirotic has the best quality version of the show.
