should i get ddr4 3200 ram for my upcoming ryzen 2700x build?

Hi, first time posting build and building a computer. It's going to mostly be used for entertainment like gaming and the like, was going to consider droping serious coin in this but I wasn't 100% Any feedback would be great. pcpartpicker.com/list/kF67WD
Here is the rest of the build. >motherboard has good VRMs >memory is on the QVL >1080Ti costs $300 more, too expensive Thoughts? pcpartpicker.com/list/L3Bcq4
Looking at these fans for cases. I'm not really sure what to look for in terms of quality, I just don't want to spend $20 on each fan. What should I get? >Arctic F12 >Corsair ML120 >Thermaltake Riing 12 >Noctua NF-F12

65495319 You won't be able to run this display properly with a 1060. I wouldn't criticize you for taking the 8700k because I did the same 7 years ago and I'm quite thankful for that. Besides, it's the best choice for 144hz gaming. Read the manual of this guide regarding matching a gpu with a monitor. If you can't afford the money, I would go for a 1080p display. I own a 4k (2160p) monitor and honestly while it is nice, good antialiasing and framerate beat it. This power supply is no good either, this PC is built to be a long term investment, you will upgrade you gpu in the future and you'll need some headroom, 550w is no good, I would recommend 650w. A 240gb ssd would do you wonders, I got one for 60 bucks in my shithole country. This could be petontially the biggest upgrade from your current system. As for buying a genuine Windows, I woudn't make a 150$+ donation to one of the richest companies in the world and in my opinion not the most respecting to their users. Pirate it, if you don't know how and is or too scared to do it yourself, ask a friend for help. Remember this money could go to your gpu.
Anyway, I hope this was helpful.

>Mini-ITX Enthusast board Literally why? I could see that being good for getting less memory latency and more speed, since the slots are physically closer to the CPU.

>1700 >1.5 weeks before zen launch

Sorry, yeah obviously I'm going to wait for that. Planning on getting the 2700.
Wyatt Flores
Probably a stupid question - if you get a Ryzen APU, can you use the onboard graphics in combination with a Radeon GPU, like in crossfire?
William Fisher
Have GPU prices stabalized/started going down?
Brandon Phillips
As general storage you won't get value out of a nvme. The cost more than ssds. It's more for large file work.
I have a 950 Samsung and mostly work video off it. Could have saved some bucks with a pair of evos.
Oliver Adams
it supposed to retailers might still squeeze the price though
How is a GTX970 paired with a i5 4670K? Would it be enough to run AAA games at 1080p on high? Would I be getting a bottleneck?
Benjamin Rogers
looks pretty good to me. Consider a 7200 rpm drive, and also obligatory >paying for windows
Alexander Diaz
Should I convert to mITX?
Right now I have a huge 980Ti AMP Extreme, a 360mm CLC and an ATX mobo but I'd be willing to trade that for a Ryzen+/Coffee Lake ITX platform and a 1070/1080Mini considering I have a 4k monitor.
I don't have a laptop so it would make hauling my PC around when I need to much easier.
This is the case I thought of using since I don't have to import anything, is compact, cheap and has 2 full size slots. Also comes with an 85+ 350W SFX PSU.
Thanks friend, I'll be sure to look into what you said.
Michael Flores
yeah looks good, though a 2700x can do 4.7 with the in box wraith max anyway
Liam Hill
I don't think a 350W PSU will be enough for a 1070/1080.
Other than that, I think the smaller form factor is worth it if you have space limitations, have to lug it around a lot, or just want it because you think it's rad.
Just prepare yourself for the limited space when building it. Depending on the case, things can get tight.

I have pic related. Is it an upgrade to my 2600 (non-K) for gaming, or at the very least serviceable? I plan to upgrade to a 5960X or 6950X (if I can find one cheaply) in the near future.
I don't know where to ask this so i guess i'll ask here. How can i route my 30meter ethernet cord through my house? I was hoping i could just place it all along the floor. But i dont think thats gonna work due to all the doors in the way. I want to get it from Red (modem) to Blue (comp) without it looking ugly and revealing i guess. Anyone have any tips?
Have you considered one of those Ethernet power line adapters?
Asher Turner
tape it along the ceiling edges, or even get some hooks to hang it from as long as they're wide enough to not crimp the wire
Nathaniel Gonzalez
Drill holes through the walls. Wait, no. Drill holes through the DOORS.
Brayden Perry
I have a tp-link wifi extender but like, everytime the wifi cuts out it's a hassle to reset it back to the settings it oringally had and the speeds just arent that fast.
Too worried i'd fug something up, plus the house is being sold next year some time
Would masking tape work? It'd blend in the best with the colour of the walls
What is the 1080p capable modern gaming graphics card with the best performance/watt? How much spending is reasonable, second hand market including? What if upgrading to 1440p would be an option?
Josiah Butler
if you want to keep it pretty then lay it under a rug is probably your only choice
harder option is change a powerpoint in both rooms to something like pic related, then just pop the third switch out to put the cable into the wall and run it through the roof. if you go that far you may as well punch down a proper 8p8c socket though.
ugly way is to tape it or use those 3m double sided tape hooks to route it above doorframes
>I have a tp-link wifi extender but like, everytime the wifi cuts out it's a hassle to reset it back to the settings it oringally had and the speeds just arent that fast. That's not the same as a poewrline adapter is it? The ethernet is a bridge to the wifi signal, not a powerline network.
If your wiring is up to it a powerline adapter should perform better than a wifi extender. My only problem with the powerline adapters is you pay out the wazoo for throughput and stations, which you basically need 3 of to get any really networking done (router and two separate devices). Easily starting at $70.
Robert James
masking tape is fairly weak but if it's all taped up it probably won't fall, and it won't damage paint unlike packing tape or something
i'd still go with the hook suspension desu
Ryder Lopez
GTX-1060 would be perfect. Still capable of 1440p as well, just need to turn down a few settings.
Might be worth updating CPU list with the AMD Ryzen 5 2400.
Hudson Reed
pls respond
Hudson Thompson
No bottleneck, it will run really well. Nice paring.
Jacob Sanders
I have the same set up and yeah I can run AAA games in 60FPS at 1080p. Overwatch all the settings are on ultra and I get 60FPS, same with siege, subnautica, etc etc.
Oh yeah I supposed 350W wouldn't be enough but the case is cheap enough to get half the money back if I sell just the PSU. The same manufacturer also does regular-length 450W Bronze and 550/650W full modular Gold SFX PSUs so I'd probably get one of those.
All a mobos are compatible with zen+. It's just that some older mobos need a bios update. You can do it in some stores for free, or contact amd so they send you an athlon and then send it back to them after updating. Or, when buying mobos, check if the descriptions say that they are ready for/compatible with raven ridge. That means they don't need a bios update to start with zen+ cpus. There are already many mobos out there that came with the newest bios.
Samuel Walker
*am4 mobos
Jacob Parker
>You can do it in some stores for free, or contact amd so they send you an athlon and then send it back to them after updating Thats what I meant. Im reading that this mobo needs it, and it sounds like a massive pain in the ass.
There should be a Ryzen 2000 Ready sticker on the box if it's updated, if you're ordering online, usually the seller would state if it's updated already.
Evan Rivera
I have a Corsair SF600 The only complaint I have about it is that cables are very, very rigid. Of course once built, you're not really going to it again that often.
Cameron Cox
Yeah, try searching for mobos that came out later. You can probably find this same mobo in stock but with updated bios. Depends more on when the mobo hit the shelves than which mobo it is. Better double check the descriptions.
Henry Young
Best would be a MB BIOS that can be updated without a CPU having to be installed. Just needs a dedicated circuit to update the BIOS. Can't be that hard.
Ian Russell
How does one go about safely pirating windows 7? I know I could find it on some torrent site but I'm weary of fucking up my computer that I just spent 1k on with a virus
Sebastian Hall
Are the b450 boards available yet?
Mason Stewart
no and probably won't be until launch day on the 19th
Nathan Bailey
OK thanks
Andrew Nelson
Is the computer store guy lying to me?
I have an old VGA monitor. I want to connect it to my 1060 which has a DP and two DVI-D's available. He says that there aren't any VGA to DVI-D adapters available and that it's just not doable. However, I looked online and it seems to be a thing but the reviews are iffy. He's willing to sell me a refurbished digital monitor for 75CAD.
Thats what i currently have in mind, I already have other things except motherboard, processor and SSD which are bundled for 350euros. Should I spend that tree fiddy in other way? Current build is shit and need new mobo etc
Colton Green
No such thing as an R5 2400. There's a 2400G, but it's only ok as a gaming CPU with a discrete graphics card. Better to get the 2200G and upgrade to a 6c/12t R5 along with the card if necessary
Nolan Martin
>3 redundant budget cpus Faggot op delete everything under a 1600 that isnt the 2200g
Alexander Peterson
Adaptors like that work. But you're restricted to what the VGA connection can handle. Honestly, you're better off buying a new 1080p monitor with HDMI and DP inputs in order to get the most of what your graphics card can do. What's the point of upgrading the graphics card if you're going to limit it with a shitty outdated monitor.
Jayden Reed
yes
liar
Ryder Stewart
hes lying
Joseph Powell
Yeah
Drop to i5 8400 and get a GTX 1070 unless you know you don't need a 1070 for the particular games you're playing
8c Ryzen is a waste for gaming (6 is fine) if you're getting a 1080 you better have a nice monitor
It's possible using DX12 (or other) mGPU implementations, but not widely available
Nope, it's good but only if you're upgrading from a lower Hazwell processor
Unlocked i5s aren't worth it
It's fine if you want a low refresh rate monitor. In my opinion if you're getting a new display it should have HDR10 and a high refresh rate
Perfect pairing
VA is the evolution of IPS. I wouldn't get TN at this point, no HDR10.

Ok I've got a problem and I'm not sure how to fix it I just got a new monitor and I got it all set up but when I turned my computer on its looks like its only showing the top right corner of the screen although the mouse seems unchanged Anyone know how to shrink the image? Pic is the monitor
Anyone willing to help a brainlet out? I have a 10year old laptop that is dying and I have been looking at monitors online for a while to the point where I hate them all. I want to get a 144hz 1440p VA panel. Is this retarded If I am not even sure if I will end up gaming? If I do get the monitor, what am I over/under spending in this build? Do I really need a system this high end for the monitor? fr.pcpartpicker.com/list/gz4skd
I am a bit scared/uncertain on the software side. I don't want to buy windows. Does linux still have tearing problems with nvidea cards? Will I be able to install a pirated windows if I want to play games?
Oh. So are the ones that cost money just for extra software or something? I would still prefer to use linux if I can.
Ryan Richardson
Jesus christ the ram prices.
Josiah Wilson
yeah I got tired of trying to find lower priced ones that easily went to 3200 on ryzen
Caleb Ramirez
On a 'positive' note you could get a 1080 ti for 'only' 860€. They all cost 1000+ over here.
Brody Evans
How can I tell if a newly bought SSD is not supported by my 2010 mainboard or just broken? I decided to finally get one but it is not recognized in the BIOS, regardless of the SATA slot and whether I use IDE or AHCI. It's really annoying.
Ryan Hernandez
>So are the ones that cost money just for extra software or something?
yes and no. Windows 10 home is free, its the other versions that cost cash.
From what I know, pirating Windows is done by getting the official ISO from Microsoft's site, and then using an activator (KMSpico) to spoof the license.
Blake Myers
Thanks a lot man, this all seems like really solid advice. I was just going to build in an old anantec case my dad had lying around. do you think I should buy a cheap modern one instead?
1600X and 1080 will both bottleneck a 1440p 144 hz panel. You need higher frequency CPU ~5 GHz to get up to 144 Hz and 1080 will struggle to achieve that at 1440p. R5 1600X and all other Ryzen CPUs currently available will at best achieve ~100 fps but the GTX 1080 will struggle doing latest titles at 1440p above 60 fps.
I would prioritize the monitor because it will last longer than anything else. The R7 2700X might be able to reach higher fps with its higher frequency and around the same time Volta/Ampere will be launching which following trends should give you like 25% better/price performance.
If you can't wait that long try the used market. You can probably get a GTX 1080 Ti at MSRP.
For me it would be between the i7-4770K and the i7-3970X. I think both would hit higher framerates than the Ryzen CPUs (Similar IPC as Broadwell/Haswell), but choosing between the two is a trade off between IPC and more cores. the LGA2011 platform does give you more options for expansion and a much nicer VRM though. Of course if you don't have the budget than a GTX 1080Ti and one of the i7-2600K bundles is a much better deal.
I have a weird question I'm going to get a small stand for my computer made its being made out of bed frames (so steel I guess) It's basically just going to prop up my PC by about 5 inches so that it fits on my desk better Would that cause any problems or potentially damage my computer if it's sitting on a stand made of steel?
Jose Lopez
Hope the case has rubber or plastic feet.
Asher Howard
It does but the stand will most likely be sitting around the edges of the case while on my desk.
