Amazon and dozens of other major services are hosted mainly, or at least significant presences in northern VA. As such, the pipes are simply more saturated than other places in the country.

I was hoping Grande might have bought out Frontier FiOS if they went bankrupt, but it doesn't look like its gonna happen.

Frontier FiOS is apparently looking at upgrading to gigabit service the way Verizon FiOS has done.

But they're shitty, so who knows.
