Hello, i've got myself Philips 1900. How should i set an equalizer to make them sound decent?

Is there anything better than the DT 770s in the same pricerange if I intend to use them mostly for commute and outside of my home.

Damn there's always a 10/10 op pic, how do you find a new picture everytime?

I spent a few hours hunting so I have a folder

Get a parametric equalizer that works systemwide. Windows users can pick up Equalizer APO for a simple solution.
Perform a sine sweep, such as by Sinegen, and look for annoying peaks and dips. Fill them in using peaking filters. Adjust the Q/bandwidth to affect the spread of the filter, the magnitude, and center frequency to make targeted corrections.
Then, listen to your music and see if you like the result. Try listening to multiple tracks. Make adjustments as needed, rinse and repeat until you like the overall result.
Graphs can help give you a rough estimate, but they don't have your ear geometry, nor your headphone unit, or
your taste.

My stax showed up in the mail 3 days ago but I've been working late every night so I'm too tired to open the box when I get home

now I'm triggered

I took out a loan to get some staxs, only 7% monthly interest

How to people feel about the Monolith stuff here? I'm considering picking up either the m560 or m1060.

it's planars, they sound dark
dark headphones suck.

>t. has never heard a planar

I've heard they need to be modified in some way to get them to sound good. Save up your pennies for an lcd2c if you want to into planar

I bought both the m565 and m1060 to try out and both were trash. m565 was just boring in general I barely used the thing. The m1060 I put many hours in and tried my best to enjoy it. However there was a problem with mine(and someone else who bought a pair a week later) where if a song hit a certain note(not 5k, this is something else) it would sound very sharp and shrill, like a shriek.
Others don't have this problem which makes me think it's a QC thing, you may get a pair with only 5k ringing, or you may get a pair with 5k ringing that also can't handle high pitched female vocals.
Pic related is another qc issue

You better be getting L700 with blue Hawaii or some shit if you're taking out a fucking loan

hard to swallow pill: planars are the bastard child of electrostats and dynamics offering the worst traits of both with none of the positives

You wish.

Attached: Capture.png (593x232, 78K)

Such as?

downsides of dynamics:
- non-linear stock FR that requires significant dampening
- ringing / sloppy decay
- heavy due to magnets

downsides of estats:
- special amp required
- resonates when enclosed/dampened
- limited excursion requiring larger diaphragm size
- fragile diaphragm
- requires strong seal

planars require an amp, have wonky tuning, heavy magnets, typically have ringing problems especially when enclosed but even when in an open back, poor excursion compared to dynamics, have fragile diaphragms, requires a strong seal

Gonna order topping d30 and O2 tomorrow and (probably) a pair of HD600's next month (currently have HD598).
Yay or nay? The only concerns I have are, one - some people saying that d10 is better, and two - I'm still unsure if a DAC+AMP in one device woudn't be better. Thoughts?

Attached: 1526911833275.jpg (535x680, 109K)

But depends from headphone to headphone, correct?

oh, I forgot one. dynamics have a non-planar wavefront. same goes for planars. typically the diaphragm on a planar is not tensioned at all so you get better bass response

sure, you can polish shit after all. take a gander at the lcd-4 or he-6 if you want a good planar

get atticus

D10 have a spidf output so you can chain it to another DAC/amp/receiver

the d10 and d30 are very comparable, you should decide based on whether you want ac or usb power, and also which you think looks better

Of course.
Most of what >66108709 said is nonsense anyway.
At least that post mentioned the issue of excursion/SPL.

I'm planning on taping both d10 and O2 under my desk, so only the O2's knob and audio jack will be visible.
So, which one's better for chaining with with O2? I'm an audio noob.

care to elaborate?

there are more than two zmf owners now and there has always been more than one person speaking positively about zmf

>Nay.
why though?

Also, I've head that controlling the volume via knob is way better than doing it digitally, via OS. If that's the case, is there any way to avoid any digital volume adjustments? I mean, when I'm listening to the music, I can set it up to 100% everywhere. But I usually do some other tasks, such as talking with people. It's obvious that music can't be at 100% if I want to hear them. Having the voice chat or something else at 100% and music at ~25% seems like an unavoidable situation, and a very common one as well. Can it be done better?

>why though?
Value a shit when compared to a dedicated amp. And having a great amp makes a huge difference, whereas a DAC will only make a difference if the DAC you'd otherwise use (such as onboard audio's) is implemented badly to the point of being hearable, something unlikely these days.
>volume via knob
Headphone amps tend to have a volume knob.
>(computer audio, software side) can it be done better?
I'm likely not the best person to ask about the software side, consumer oriented. I do use an overcomplicated architecture with linux-rt, the jack audio connection kit and alsa loopback into jack as fallback for non-jack applications.

I need an inexpensive and decent set of wireless headphones for working out. I prefer headphones that cup over your ears. Does anyone have any recommendations? Is active noise cancellation a meme?

>Is active noise cancellation a meme?
It's good for subway, airplanes, fans and similar constant continuous sounds.

How does it sound like? Which headphones do you prefer with it?

inb4 audiophool vomit that tells you literally nothing

Working late again today. Probably gonna get home, look at the still taped up box with my stax in it, take a shower and go to bed.

post a pic of your box

good

my previous headphone tube amps were an OTL, and a push-pull. In comparison the s.e.x has an immediacy that’s really exciting and more engaging. It’s a similar presentation to my we6-se but has a tighter grip on lows.

Favorite combo has been with he-500. I love the hd650/Crack combo, the hd650/s.e.x is a more transparent less warm sound.

Was really simple build too.

Have you fixed your stax yet?

Attached: Blu tacx.png (1041x1500, 1.19M)

Nah, I gave all mine to modhouse so he could make argons.

Same but I gave in my number 1/800 in.

Why are you so rude?

I'm just looking out for your well being.

Get rid of that disgusting socket-wrecking 3.5mm adapter and buy a proper one.

before you started flaming the way you do now you used to ask for budget headphone recommendations because how little money you had, makes sense why you target stax

Pretty bad headphones, considering they aren't Stax. As bad headphones, it should have been expected

Attached: autism.png (480x423, 298K)

I have stax tho. I just don't like shills.

Both suck, especially the M1060.

It's me once again.
Why O2 is so autistic about port placement? Does the RCA version have all the ports on the front too? Input and power should be at the back, how am I supposed to operate the knob with 4 fucking cables in my way.
I feel like considering magni 3 again even though some anons said that schiit is shit.

forgot pic

Attached: file.png (885x797, 17K)

because it's meant to be portable

proofs

hooo boy you're gonna feel stupid when you actually end up trying a stax

the jds labs one can be customized to have power and rca on the back
the positioning is like that because the O2 is really a portable amp run with batteries

He never will, because it would destroy his biases and narrow worldview. For the sake of his sanity, he will never try honestly try STAX, although he will vehemently claim that he has.

No camera or phone
I like them yes.
