Linux can tell you're not a jobless n33t. It's trying to kick you back where you belong. To Windows.

strangely, where i study eduroam just werks with linux and android (at least until lollipop, for some reason it began acting weird under oreo), but requires you to download an exe to setup the network on windows. funny, isn't it?

>be me >buy windows 8 laptop with atheros ar5bwb222 wifi card (with basically no way to know what chip is in the laptop before buying) >windows 8.1 comes along >wifi has random disconnects >new drivers for win 8.1 that introduce this issue >check ubuntu on a live usb stick >wifi works ootb, drivers are foss and included in the kernel >no problems Had to wait for windows 10 1703 to include a working driver version, and every driver from atheros site was dropping connection every few minutes

well my adapter used to work until a boot where it now says "wrong password" (nothing changed) but there's no fucking way. so i booted back to windows it's even more ludicrous
This, Eduroam just werks on GNU/Linux, whereas you have to download some shit on Windows which doesn't even work half the time.

Linux: >install and fully update within 30 minutes >connect to WiFi >get job done
Windows: >buy bloatware'd botnet 10 PC >download the last acceptable wi ndows version (7) >install takes about 3 hours >try to connect to WiFi >no drivers installed >use other PC to download said drivers >connect to WiFi >windows update >..... >windows updates >updates installing >reboot >configuring windows >installing updates >configuring updates >reboot >installing updates >this goes on for a few days >play candycrush or whatever gaymes are popular with you toddlers these days >get virus >install av >play more gaymes >get virus again >cry 'but muh av' >lol get paid version pleb >pay >get virus >repeat this process until you grow up >install and fully update within 30 minutes >connect to WiFi >get job done
