He didn't even believe that, he believed the people of California should have the right to decide in a referendum whether they should have fag marriage instead of "elected officials" deciding everything for them. (They didn't want it, but who cares, the supreme court will ram it down everyone's throat anyone, muh rights to a piece of paper and tax break)
So when the majority of voters refused to allow fag marriage, it's apparently the fault of someone who donated a few hundred dollars to some referendum initiative.
