Just waiting (tm) for zen 2 which will be another year. A capture card will have to suffice until then. Fuck off amd shills and suggest capture cards

I prefer to use a standalone VHS camera pointed at the screen. Makes editing easier.

stay away from elgato. go with avermedia:

kek, ancient. 144hz monitors are standard by now

this, i have one too

Anyone know any good HDMI splitters that are good for removing HDCP?
I can't seem to find a good one for 4k/60fps.

>144hz monitors are standard by now
yeah but no games are 144fps for console. no tv shows are 144fps either.

the monitor being 144hz is completely pointless for capturing

get a faster cpu
or use your gpu
capture cards are only good if you want to mirror the data to a seperate computer where again, a better cpu is needed to render.

install gentoo and use a magewell

AMD gpu

Is that toenail hotsauce man?

wait, can you capture video from a console(nintendo switch) without the need for a capture card?

why are people recommending gpus?

nvidia nvenc encoding

>wait, can you capture video from a console(nintendo switch) without the need for a capture card?
no
>why are people recommending gpus?
because they are probably assuming the setup is gaming pc to encoding pc
which is a weird assumption, but apparently this is the pc gaymur crowd and all

Hey Phil

>just waiting (tm)
You are this Braindeadâ„¢

>which is a weird assumption

It's a very common setup for popular streamers, a separate stream hosting PC with a capture card.

It actually has nothing to do with performance though, they do it so the stream is never interrupted, in case of game issues or full PC lock ups or required reboots or games that use exclusive fullscreen and make multi-monitor use a pain. Twitch viewers have crazy ADHD problems, a streamer needing to go offline for 10 seconds to reboot their NVMe equipped PC will still lose like 40% of their vieweship for the night. The second that Offline pops the spergs all just close the tab.

This is actually the best thread for me to ask this

I was looking at the Avermedia Live Extreme and I like that I can find that fucker for $100 used but I'm weary about the component input b/c i have some S-Video sources and don't want to spend additional money on sketchy S-Video to YPbPr converters.
The next best thing I've seen is the StarTech USB 3 Capture card, which has HDMI, DVI-I and multi-AV inputs but *no* pass-thru. Meaning I'd have to invest in HDMI splitters and Component splitters (not Composite or S-Video b/c I can just pass thru from my PVM) and this one is $180.

Idk what to do lads.

AMD brainlets have no idea what capture cards are even for

No GNU/Linux drivers.

capture cards wont work in Linux

Depends on the driver. Some do.

>*no* pass-thru.
non-negotiable dealbreaker

There's one good brand: Magewell
