Lineage OS or iPhone

bout to upgrade phone (S6)
should i get a another android (S8/9) and install Lineage?

or buy an iPhone
and keep anything personal on my Linux PC?
(or jailbreak?)

(my understanding of Lineage,
is that it strips android of all google services,
and offers the same security / privacy controls that desktop Linux does)

thx Jow Forumsuys

Lineage without googleshit > iOS > stock Android

>iOS
>botnet

>Lineage
>not a botnet

Not a tough decision.

> iOS > stock Android

nice argument mr. reddit

Lineage without googleshit > stock Android > iOS > OEM customized android
fixed

buy an s8 and install lineageos

>s8
>the only galaxy not supported

kek

this
anything with googleshit is trash

You can pay 900 dollars for 500 dollars worth of processing, when you will only need 200 dollars worth of processing to do everything on said iphone before all the ios apps require a newer and uninstallable version of ios,
OR
You can buy a lasting phone that's worth its money and install a custom rom that you can trust with your data

Tough decision

>lasting phone
that's why my S6 (2015)
only got 2 years of software support?

whereas the iPhone 5s (2013)
just got iOS 12,
aka 5y of support

apple products may cost 50% more
but they can last over 2x as long

I know people with iPhone 4's
that are only just thinking of upgrading recently

CONT

not to mention iPhones consistently outperform androids
(even with a 1-2 year handicap on the iPhone)

>youtube.com/watch?v=PhrUef6FsxE
>2018 S9 only outperforms 2016 iPhone 7 half the time

don't know much about jailbreaking,
but i presume a jailbroken iPhone
would have all the benefits of a Lineage running Android, no?
(with better performance)

>I know people with iPhone 4's
that are only just thinking of upgrading recently

what, your grandma? the iphone 4 barely got ios 7

unscientific pajeet comparison with obvious bias

>but i presume a jailbroken iPhone
would have all the benefits of a Lineage running Android, no?
(with better performance)

buddy, making a text post on Jow Forums seems to be a little bit above your technical capacity i don't think you really need to be worrying about the performance of unsupported operating systems

>biased towards apple
>android user whole life
what does that say about android?
(apart from 2011 iPad 2,
which worked until 2017)

i like how you both attack the least important parts of my posts
>who I know using iP4
>which speed test video i used

also, iP4 got 3y of updates
5 and 3 > 2

great stuff guys

I have tried using a 4 on iOS 7.1.2, and a 4s on iOS 9.3.5 and my god the experience was horrible on both.
Lag.

Don't worry, the overpriced Note 8 and almost the complete line of their midrange devices are also unsupported.

that may be true,
but just as android has evolved,
so has apple

youtu.be/A-NQi6c1oHE

the iPhone 5s got 5y support,
and is as fast as my S6

I could probably buy a used iP7,
and get more use/performance out of it
for less than most flagship androids...

or would Lineage 10x my performance on Android?

>I could probably buy a used iP7,

Not sure, but you'll lack a headphone jack, a micro SD card slot, good battery life and an additional GB of RAM.

>LineageOS 16 nowhere to be found
What the fuck are these slowpokes doing?

Lineage boosted my old J3 2016 performance by infinity.
Budget phones and bloatwiz don't get along very well.

Buy Pocophone

My S5 was OFFICIALLY updated a few months ago. Either way you can LineageOS an S6. It's not a bad phone. I'm still using S5 as one of my main devices.

That's not a real test or a benchmark you fucking retard. Kys.

shitting in the street

I would recommend to use lineage and wait until S10 releases and then upgrade to S10. I'm sure S10 is going to an amazing phone! I'm personally loving the new One UI in my S9

Attached: ihqdligc3wz11.png (1413x1934, 1.38M)

and the lg g2 from 2013 still gets weekly lineageos updates
only a fucking retard uses stock roms

Lineage on Samsung devices makes the camera perform like absolute dogshit. I have an international version S7 (SM-G930FD) and it is much better with the oem skin than vanilla android
t. Android enthusiast and Lineage Fanboy

If you insist on samshit your only option is the European version of S9.

This

Imagine being this retarded. iOS is a shit OS. Even a Google infected android is better. At least you can uninstall Google trashware.

rooted android for adblock and funsies
he's correct though
lineage shits on IOS and stock android, arguing between stock droid and IOS is like arguing who's shit smells the best.

>At least you can uninstall Google trashware
yeah good luck removing deeply ingrained googleshit like gcm and google services from a stock rom without breaking everything else

...

Stock Android is AOSP.

>he's correct though
lineage shits on IOS and stock android
except on April Fools day
Reminder that the pajeets behind lineage think your system integrity and security concerns are nothing but a punchline

They still doing that shit? Never again.

>Google is deeply integrated
Lmao. Out of the following only gms survives on most ROMs, and it can be removed by rooting. Nothing will break if you push the first block of commands and Google's shitware is mostly disabled.

>waah how dare they joke on April's fools
Kys.

lel

Not the same person. For some devices they did that for a week and after April fools day. Also they had a permanent notification. We know it was a joke but they went too far. If that was your first build you installed you probably went looking online to disable the garbage notification. And after a week you got the next build that removed the trash. So what's the point if they cannot even do some checks and activate the prank only for April fools day? Tell me...

iOS can't play webms

lineageOS is great, it gave new life to my old S5. My only problem is that i'm supposed to update the baseband to get the latest security patches and it seems very difficult. This is keeping me from installing lineageOS on my redmi note 4, i want the security patches with the OS

I'm having issues trying to get USB to connect with my s9+ so I can install lineage. How do I fix this? I've already tried it with Linux and windows

So quick question. In your opinion, whats the best phone that I can get used for under $100 for the latest LineageOS build?

I'd say motorola nexus 6. In general that phone is pretty god tier

How long does it usually take for LOS to support a new device? Got a Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite and noticed that the A1 just got LOS a couple of months ago so can I expect my phone to get it somewhere late 2019?

If you get an S8 make sure it's an international model (SM-950F or SM-955F). I learned the hard way that Samsung cucks every other model of S8 to the point where Lineage won't work.

>tfw that's the one I bought
This is the last time I'm falling for Samsung's shitty software experience. Their hardware may be top notch, but GOD DAMN IT the software is awful.

The cognitive dissonance on this board between pretending to hate google as a "botnet" while buying actual botnet chinese phones is funny.
