What do you run?

Is Android TV the future? Or is there a superior alternative?

Apple TV

nVidea Shield in my basement. Roku on main TV and on basement TV. Older Fire TV on kids TV. I have a whole graveyard of devices going to back first Roku. For ease of use the Roku's have been hard to beat. All of my Amazon devices have gotten goofy after about a year of use. My shield is the shit but I don't want to drop $300 outfitting the rest of my house with them.

Roku with Plex
It just werkz

I took one of the stick devices and put Kodi on it, I plan to do more with it once I have more time. Any advice here?

Spend your time doing something more useful and beneficial for yourself.

local content or streaming?

Being a fucking nerd i just run a NUC. I'm thinking of getting a plex server too.

True, I have other technology projects that are more important than marginal improvements to my media center.
Local content mostly, I set up the system to save on the bandwidth used by streaming. I only stream podcasts to the TV now.
