You're a stupid retard who couldn't follow one simple to understand wiki and is too retard to do things right without the wiki
ubuntu doesn't have this problem
What library are you talking about? glibc is in base.
Leave sophisticated software to sophisticated people.
Yes it is
You need ethernet. Let me guess, you're installing arch on a macbook?
Windows 10 doesn't have this problem. Matter of fact its AI learning will automatically download all necessary drivers while you install your OS for a seemless experience.
>who designed this stuff

Ultimate state of nu-Jow Forums
the idea is to install what you want before you reboot
that said, base does include everything needed to get online, including iputils and dhcpcd
The wiki doesn't say that base doesn't give you iw by default, because it sucks
Imagine deciding NOT to give users basic tools to connect to the internet by default
iw, wireless_tools, and wpa_supplicant aren't there
Let me know when you connect to wifi without iw
desktop users, servers, and VMs don't need iw. Similarly, servers don't usually need graphics drivers. Should those be packages with base too?
wpa_supplicant -B -i interface -c /path/to/config
wpa_cli -i interface
You're retarded
so install it?
i'll let you know if i use wifi outside of my cellphone
imagine knowing you need wifi, and not installing tools to connect to wifi
then imagine complaining about it on a guyanese yam-harvesting emporium
what next "it doesn't even come with sudo!"?
great examples, thanks for the explanation
I still blame the wiki for not having a note like that
not installed by default, same to you
I'm pretty sure it is m8y, unless it's in base-devel
>install distro whose main feature is being absolute bare-bones LEGO set
>cry that it's bare-bones
what was meant by this
>reboot into arch usb
>mount your shit again
>chroot
>pacman -Syu dialog
>next time remember to pacstrap /mnt base dialog vim tmux wpa_supplicant
wpa_supplicant isn't part of base/base-devel
>not installed by default, same to you
Nigger, not even Debian has any wireless tools in minimal installation, what the fuck are you crying about? Don't fucking install turbo minimalistic distros if you want shit out of the box.
Try the command wifi-menu
holy shit I just realized you are probably running the wpa_supplicant command itself
read about wifi-menu and netctl, it will make your life less shitty
mostly my fault; I wasn't aware just how bare-bones it was
yes, that worked
completely your fault
you even see exactly what is being downloaded/installed on your screen as it's being installed
base doesn't contain that many things, that's the point, it is the base, anything that is reasonable to call optional is committed. not everyone uses wifi
to be fair though the base meta package on arch is bloated to shit, something like 700mb
it really should include wpa_supplicant
ommited*
wpa_supplicant most certainly IS in the base installation of debian (netinst with no package groups selected)
so I suppose what would be nice is if the installation page on the wiki had a quick note like "like wifi? remember to install iw"
idk if anyone really gets tripped up by this, though
Minimal Debian is debootstrapping minbase, not netinstall. And no, wpasupplicant is marked as neither essential nor required, so it most cetainly isn't in base installation either.
but it is tho
t. have installed debian netinst many, many times
>we're not talking about netinst
>but i've used netinst many times!
>it most cetainly isn't in base installation either
systemctl enable dhcpcd
daz it
the wiki is dogshit, fuck off
It isn't. What's likely happening is tasksel adds it for you automatically together with some other packages as part of extra target such as laptop install. If you bootstrap manually instead of using installer you won't get it.
I am pretty sure it does you retarded inbred fuckwit degenerate school shooting faggot.
t. arch user
Legit the best wiki compared to any other distro
Why not just use netctl lol?
use Antergos or Manjaro. same shit, just better base to build upon. Arch's "base quality" went shit when they decided to drop the installer for no reason.
Arch is a waste of time. Just use Windows. The retards here aren't productive
