THE SLAVERY IS OVER

WE ARE FINALLY FUCKING FREE!

Don't worry, RAM and GPU prices are still through the roof so it all evens out.

>RAM prices are still through the roof
techpowerup.com/249797/dram-price-fix-uncovered-in-china-massive-evidence-against-samsung-sk-hynix-and-micron
Not long now, it's all going tumbling down too.

Sure, prices will drop for a few months and then DDR5 will get released and RAM will be retardedly expensive again.

Wouldn't a new model of ram make ddr4 cheaper?

16GB modules of DDR3 still costs ~$120 per stick so... not really.

Check DDR3 prices.
They are basically the same or more expensive now.

>just bought 2 500TB Samsung for 70 eurocuck bucks each

>outsource everything to CHYNA
>westerners grow retarded as fuck and have no infrastructure or will to take back the industry
>china can now do whatever it pleases because they are the only ones producing the hardware

gg no re

Holy shit it's happening!

I don't really care about this. I use only iGPUs and I don't need more than 8GB RAM in my desktop and 4GB in laptops.

Why do you seem to care so much about SSDs dropping in price then?

>SSDs
enjoy your data loss

lel @ poorfags with obsolete tech

Because I'm dumb frog poster.

haha, no. when a new one comes out, they ramp down then stop production of the old, and with limited supply comes higher prices

g-good1! ~condescending snicker~

loling @ u

They get a slap on the wrist compared to the amount they made.

*smuckles*

A daily reminder Lisa Su is Chinese too. How does THAT make you feel, Jow Forumsuys?

>Holy shit it's happening!
0.08 by 2020, lul. HAOH tapefags and HHDcucks could ever recover.

You can get ddr4 8gb ram for about $50 right now on Amazon, what are you talking about?

>data loss
>SSDs
How is it there, in 2010?

She's Taiwanese and has lived in the US since she was three.

>She's Taiwanese
...saem shit.

Taiwanese are pro-western anti-commiechink chinks

Taiwan is still China, though.

In practice they're different countries.

So could also be implied about Macau or Hong Kong, and yet...

Beijing has better control over those regions even if they're filled with dissidents.

Taipei is LITERALLY called "Chinese Taipei", lul.

It's a working title because Beijing doesn't recognize that Taiwan is de facto independent.

>Taiwan is de facto independent
Let me guess, you're from SJeW York, huh?

>available
>it's actually been out of stock for hours
>techniggerup

>autism = the post

>cheapest 4TB SSD is ~$850
>cheapest 4TB HDD is ~$100
Yeah, never mind, I'll wait another 10 years before replacing my HDD.

Did the Chinese market regulators finally break the Samsung-Hynix-Micron-Toshiba flash memory cartel with threats of full scale price fixing investigation, massive fines, and even possible criminal prosecution and jailing of executives?

You're a lamer if you don't understand the concept of "1TB of SSD space equals 8TB of HDD space by quality of storage per 1GB". 4TB of SSD space, in this lieu, equals 32TB of enterprise tier HDD space.

>logarithmic scale

those jews man...

>storage drive
>thinks the most important metric is """quality""" and not quantity

nvme when

it's like a bad stock really quickly when new RAM comes out. Buy what you need within the first month or two, or else you're fucked after that. It'll drop then double.

CPU is cheap now lol
better than it was years ago..
It's still better to just get them used DESU. you can grab them on ebay, run memory check on them and return them if not open a dispute. if they work they work. also nearly all ram has lifetime warranty so you can get new shit if you want.
I always get CPUs, RAM used. sometimes I get GPUs used and very rarely motherboards. CPUS & RAM are pretty much 100% safe though, they last through a lot of abuse.

China don't do dick in terms of fabrication of RAM and NAND, it is actually Korean companies that have been fucking NAND and RAM for years and have been caught colluding several times.
Once China gets some DRAM fabs prices will drop considerably and should stay low due to competition between Chinese companies and competition from Korea

>buy cheap SSD for speedy OS and favorite programs
>also buy your big HDD for all of your bulk storage
Is this not an option or something?
I don't get this mind set of "I'm not touching SSDs unless there as cheap as HDD"
You can enjoy 90% of the benefits of an SSD without having to go all SSD

The only China is what you idiots keep calling Taiwan. Communist-occupied China is the "PRC".

970 EVO NVMe M.2 a good choice?

>Just when I think SSD's are catching up

What's the cheapest 8TB SSD?
See

>CPUs and SSDs are cheap now
>RAM and GPUs are expensive
Can we ever win?

500TB HDD or SSD?

>3d
>not 4d
kek

No matter how much of a porn hoarder or AAA Video Game whore you are, you have to admit the difference between a $120 500MB SSD and a $50 500MB SSD is far more important than jamming on a few extra TB onto a shit brand.

GPU's are back down to sane prices now, across a broad swath of the market. Radeon 570s are down to as low as $130 after MIR. You can get an 8GB Radeon RX 580 for under $200 now. Even a Vega 56 or Geforce 1070 can be had for $350.

RAM is also down in price; 2x8GB 3000 kits are showing up for $110 and below.

Are there any drives which are considered unstable and should be avoided? Are 4TB drives still prone to dying? I used to go with the 2+2TB option but I'd like to consolidate everything at some point and get a 4 or 8TB main and 8TB backup.

Can't wait until we get cheap consumer 16tb drives.

Indeed, the government of Taiwan (ROC) is the only government of China the US should recognize.

...huh?

Enjoy your SHINGLE OUT OF ASS turtle speeds with bad sectors everywhere, CONSTANT PARKING, bit flipping/rotting and data loss, I guess.

Let me guess...you've typed that from Sing-a-poor?

>What's the cheapest 8TB SSD currently?
Micron 5200, SATA III, 1960$.

>Are there any drives which are considered unstable and should be avoided?
Anything-OCZ, anything-Indilinx, anything-SandForce.

Everything else is fine, differing only in quality of TRIM, caches, cells, and speeds. Phison is slow, but reliable, for example (it's like buying a 5400RPM HDD purely for archival hoarding purposes). Silicon Motion is medium in speeds, but very reliable and cheap at the same time. Micron is cheap, but lesser lifespans (in TBW) and shitty cache, Samsung is overpriced as fuck while having most reliable and fastest shit on the market with top tier cell tech.
