CPU >CPUs less threads usually suffer lower 0.1% minimums >Athlon 200GE - Bare minimal desktop/gaming >R3 2200G - Light gaming(dGPU optional) >R5 2400G - Consider IF on sale >R5 2600/X - Good gaming & multithreaded work use CPUs >i7-9700k/8700k/8700 - If you have a $2000+ budget >R7 2700/X - Best value high-end CPU on a non-HEDT platform >Threadripper/Used Xeon - HEDT
RAM >Always choose at least a 2 stick kit >8GB - Bare minimum/Light desktop use. >16GB - Standard amount >32GB - If you have to ask, you don't need this >CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 2933MHz+ is ideal. Check "more" for true latency formula
Graphics cards >RTX 2000 cards are worse performance per $ than previous gen >Avoid cheap MODELS ie MSI Armor (Mk2 is ok), Gigabyte G1/Wf, ASUS dual, and others w/ small heatsinks and low quality fans 1080p >RX 570/580 w/ Freesync or 1060 6GB - standard 1080p 60fps+ options >Vega 56; 1070Ti if you already have Gsync - for higher FPS w/ a high hz monitor 1440p >Vega; 1070Ti if you already have Gsync >Waste money - for higher FPS w/ a high hz monitor 4K >Upscale from 1620-1800p. Or 2080Ti, but awful value OpenCL use >Vega 64
Storage >Backup before using StoreMi >Consider a larger SSD (better GB/$) instead of small SSD & HDD >2TB HDDs are barely more $ than 1TB >M.2 is a form factor, NOT a performance standard
Display >Consider 75hz minimum; 60hz are mostly old models >Always consider FreeSync w/ AMD cards >START YOUR BUILD WITH A MONITOR FIRST, then make a build to drive it appropriately

just bought new desktop, been on a gaming laptop the last 5 years. I got a 27" MSI 1080 1 ms 144hz monitor right now, and I need a second to pair it with since I don't have my laptop screen anymore. I also need a mic, cause I have ATH M50X and again, used the laptop for the mic.
pcpartpicker.com/list/dQcmKB Looking at prices compared to earlier this year, and my dream of building an all white pc is a lot more realistic. Priced up locally and they can do this for a little over $1100 assembled. What do you guys think?
Chase White
sir ples buy intle products i need rupees shilling good more rupees ok?
Here Is is worth looking at Vega 64? I was told a 1070 is the best option for a 2k screen, but if it's a small difference in price and better than a 1080 I might go for the 64 and paint it white. Is painting graphics cards a thing? I've noticed the 2600 is pretty cheap where I am. Should I get that instead of an 8400?
Probably some faggot who has buyers remorse and wants others to get cucked too so he spams this shit case.
Christopher Richardson
That cpu is the only nigger in your build
Grayson Roberts
Compact, cheap, fits 3x 3.5 HDDs, has a disc drive bay, heaps of ventilation and support for 2x 240mm radiators in said compact size.
Camden Perry
1070 and 1080 are terrible value compared to a 1070ti or Vega. >Is painting graphics cards a thing? Yes, you can take off the shroud and paint it then put it back on. >I've noticed the 2600 is pretty cheap where I am. Should I get that instead of an 8400? 2600 would be a better choice even at the same price, generally. 8400 does better in some games, on averages, but in an actual desktop with shit running in the background, the more threads of the 2600 is going to have you lose less FPS from stuff in the background like that.
Your options at $20-$35 for a case are pretty limited. It's decent.
Like 50% above is good. Really just a little above peak is fine, but pcpp doesn't show peak.
please help me, I have hyper autism and can't bring myself to buy a new decent cpu because there's no good intel sales and my jewish blood is kicking in
>get AGESA update this morning >board suddenly gets BCLK option >able to get 4ghz on 1600 with .025v less power >3200 mhz ram is now 3294.4 >random audio stutters from bibeo bames suddenly gone >get ~15-20 moar frames >DPC somehow reduced >all after my 1 year-old board got updated Is this fine wine technology?

Lads I have a 2700X with stock cooler, it handles shit pretty well, when my room was hot however it went up quite a bit. I vented my room and it was fine. But I am thinking for the summer I may need a better cooler.
Someone redpill me on such? Was thinking between Dark rock pro 4 (Noctua colours aren't for me) or an AIO such as EVGA CLC 240 (Meshify can fit a 240mm up top, my 1080ti stops a front radiator).
Zachary Harris
BCLK is a bit dangerous

>looking for CPU reviews >all the jewtube personalities bench at 1080p with massive custom liquid cooling setups >AyyMD gets slaughtered understandably, as they're pitting a $240 chip against a $1000 chip or w/e >suddenly AyyMD is bad for gaming at 1080p >both chips consistently push at least 60 fps minimum >60fps was the target for YEARS >suddenly it doesn't matter anymore >realize that you could slap in most any modern CPU if you want to game at 4k >CPU matters very little for gayming >youtube guys still push Intel
I don't get it. Seems to me that if you aren't pushing 5GHz on your 6c/12t or 8c/16t Intel CPU and are at 1080p, then the superior option is always Ryzen because of the sheer price to performance of the platform? Is that what the jewtube guys don't want us goyim to know?
Andrew Torres
>intel sales >I have hyper autism I see. You'll just have to bite the bullet and replace your motherboard. 6700 is not going on sale just like how the 4790, 3770, and so on didn't go on sale well after the last series launch. Intel knows you are stuck on that platform and will either overpay for a CPU or buy a new board. So buy the new B450 board and a 2600 and you're good.
$390 for a 1070Ti? Why? That's a lot of money for a upper lower high-end GPU which doesn't support Freesync.
>Is this fine wine technology? I mean kind of. It's more that... this is a brand new architecture and platform, and BIOS just hasn't had time to mature. XMP took like what, 2 years for Intel to get working well like it is today?
But yeah I got massive improvements to how my memory runs and the performance of my CPU in its worse cases with BIOS updates as well. I've not updated to AGESA 1.0.0.6 yet, though.
Only if you go over 105.
Have you already tried a -50 or -100mv or so voltage offset? That will make it run both cooler and perform better. Anyway, Arctic Freezer 33 is really all you need unless you're doing some really high end overclocking.
Yes, that's why it says that Intel is only worth considering with a $2k+ build. Yeah if you have the money to put into deliding, cooling, heavily overclocking an 8700k with a super expensive GPU, it can be "worth it". But in your general build with a 1070ti/2070/Vega, Ryzen is clearly the better buy. Runs nice and smooth and efficiently.
Easy way to spot a moron is when they pair a 8700k with a 1070Ti or some shit like that.

I currently have a RX580 paired with an old 720p 30in tv for my monitor. Would this be a worthy upgrade if I intend to play at 1080p 60fps until AMD releases newer cards so I can take advantage of the 1440p 144hz? newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0ZW5F71608
Ethan Reed
It just seems dishonest though. GN, Jay, etc. all push Intel heavily, even Hardware Unboxed makes blanket statements like "Intel is better at gaming, full stop." Which is technically true, but literally doesn't matter if you aren't using a top end GPU at 1080p.
Why say such things if you're not getting paid? Is it because they live in a bubble where they only see the ultra-high end shit?
Ayden Lewis
I haven't tried anything as it runs under 65c currently on load. But when summer comes around I am worried that will edge up quite a bit.
So was planning a preemptive cooler change before then.
>That's a lot of money for a upper lower high-end GPU which doesn't support Freesync.
You do realize you can use freesync with nvidia cards too. Yes you jump through some hoops, but its not that hard.
Gabriel Brooks
My base clock is locked to 103 though so there's not enough room to live dangerously.
Benjamin Watson
>got new 1070TI this morning, threw it in >realized later that literally 3 of the games I play were demanding enough to actually see meaningful gains and otherwise i'm basically just dick stroking until i get a 144hz or a 1440p
well i feel dumb but still content

I would like to build a pc for gaming and have picked these parts but I don't know what i'm doing and could really use the help. ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/xgVCvn My max budget is 2300 but I would like to keep it below that. If someone could tell me what to change or recommend something new all together, I would really appreciate it.
Joshua Young
>>err that was redundant, i meant I would like to keep the price well below 2300, like at 1800 or 2000 but i would be willing to pony up for better performance.
Xavier Thomas
>4x8GB single rank or >2x16GB dual rank?
will there be a difference in clockspeeds on ryzen, assuming 3200 mhz CL14?
Lets say I want to start over with a ~$1200-$1600AUD budget, (nix the GPU and Hard Drives because I replaced those recently so mine are still good), and keep it compatible with this RAM, what would be a recommended MoBo and CPU for relatively heavy gaming use with multiple monitors? My current GPU is a GTX970 i scrounged up on clearance last year if it matters. I also need a new case too actually.
I was recommended this build earlier, but as I'm going through to buy stuff, the 1070 ti black is gone from the site. I dont know what I'm supposed to be looking for, which brand or model is good or bad. I'm trying to keep cost down but not trying to cut corners on the most important part of the build. Can anyone help on this? Also the RAM is sold out, but the guy said he just picked it randomly.
Also, memes aside, should I stick with the plan of a 1070ti or do a Vega 64? Idk anything about it but the shitposting ive seen in the past few days
do they? I've had no issues with my 1060 6GB AORUS does what I need it to, runs cool when the fans care to turn on and quiet the rest of the time
Caleb Ward
64 or 56 idk
Nicholas Hill
its a good 1080p card, 1070 is still better
Nolan Kelly
I'm a photographers(semi-pro) and also an occasional gamer. Im building a PC and that's all been easy but I can't find one monitor that's good for both photoediting(IPS screen) and gaming(usually TN). are there any good IPS monitors that dont suck ass and shit at gaming? Most with a good color gamut and a good color rating on RTINGS are 60hrz
Owen Hughes
why not two monitors, one for each use case?
Hudson Howard
Get multiple monitors. If you spend a lot of time on your PC you probably want at least 2 monitors regardless, get one for each. Trust me on this, having a single monitor sucks ass. You don't realize how much it sucks until you've had multiple. I have 2 and want a third.

ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/VWbG6s Swapped out the 8700K for a 2600X system. 8700k is a great gaming CPU, but only really relevant when paired with a 1080ti/2080 or greater GPU. The 2600X is able to get away with a cheaper cooler and motherboard (cooler optional, but helps the CPU hit higher boost vlock speeds) so there's savings there. Smaller motherboard allows for a more compact case with better ventilation anyway. Swapped the 1070ti out for a Strix Vega56. Due to the above savings and the pairing with the Vega card I was able to move up a resolution level to a 1440p@144hz IPS Freesync panel for a bit more eye candy, and still come away with a significant saving.
Full disclosure, this setup won't get as high a frame rate as the 8700K/1080p system you put together, but IMO that's a lot of money to spend on a 1080p system. And if frame rates are still more important to you, you can still swap the 1440p@144hz panel down for another 1080p@144hz in conjunction with Freesync. I'd also consider another route for getting Windows as that's expensive.
Asher Harris
Yes, it's an excellent card. >good 1080p card Nigger, rx 570/580 and gtx 1060 are good 1080p cards.
Wouldn't it be weird to have 2 different types of monitors set up at the same time?
Aiden Lopez
Yeah, I'd give it a whirl if it was $20 cheaper, but this would be worth the price difference IMO.
Joshua Bennett
>TN: Shittier colors and viewing angles >VA: shitty ghosting and input lag >IPS: Backlight bleed and ips glow what the actual FUCK do i buy? FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
>GN, Jay, etc. all push Intel heavily, even Hardware Unboxed makes blanket statements like "Intel is better at gaming, full stop." Yes, which is why people are convinced that an i3 is somehow better than Ryzen 5. No matter that the i3 will stutter like shit and not get a consistent 60fps+.
There are AHVA/VA which are alright for photo editing while still being good at gaming. They're that in detween. Acer has some 4ms IPS monitors but I'm pretty sure they're AHVA. AHVA is a form of IPS.
??? $390 is way overpriced for that. I don't know how you think that's a good price. There were 1070Ti for around $300 a few days ago. Ones that were actually decent models.
Jackson Evans
I'd buy a vega 64 but why the fuck are the ones on sale using blower coolers? that's fucking cancer.
Aaron Adams
VA. Input lag isn't noticeable. It's a compromise between TN and IPS
Jayden Williams
Where my b-die chads at? Post your RAM OCs to inspire and guide me
I'm waiting on my motherboard, RAM & power supply to delivered tomorrow so I can start on my new build. They're still at a FexEx facility in Nashville. As it is, I went ahead and got my SSD & hard drive into the caddies that came with my case. I also installed the extra fan I ordered for an exhaust fan into the back of the case.
Gabriel Cook
whats the best VA monitor?
Robert Campbell
Because you missed the other sales. Red Dragon 56 was on sale for $400 plus the games for a day or two.
It doesn't seem like stock of them is even that high, as well.
>whats the best VA monitor? Google [Desired Resolution][Desired refresh rate] VA monitor then get one in your price range.
Gavin Anderson
XFX makes really high quality power supplies, so im sure their cards are good as well
Easton Reyes
XFX is good. I'd jump at that price.
David Gonzalez
>There were 1070Ti for around $300 a few days ago but there aren't any right now
Joshua Gonzalez
get a 1050 otherwise bite the bullet
Jack Reyes
Are benQ monitors good?
Daniel Lopez
Is it worth 20$ more for cl15 RAM compared to cl16 RAM? They're both 300MHz btw
Nolan Roberts
back in the day. not so much for modern gpus and what you want to do with them.
Nathan Miller
So my motherboard came in from Newegg, but the packaging was shitty and there was clearly some force placed in the board(box slight indents from the board and the anti static plastic had tiny punctures on the bottom) - should I just send this back now? Have to wait a few days before my ram gets in, but is there some other way to test it?
Gavin Wood
if youre using ryzen absolutely, but intel doesnt really benefit from the change
