CPU >CPUs less threads usually suffer lower 0.1% minimums >Athlon 200GE - Bare minimal desktop/gaming >R3 2200G - Light gaming(dGPU optional) >R5 2400G - Consider IF on sale >R5 2600/X - Good gaming & multithreaded work use CPUs >i7-9700k/8700k/8700 - If you have a $2000+ budget >R7 2700/X - Best value high-end CPU on a non-HEDT platform >Threadripper/Used Xeon - HEDT
RAM >Always choose at least a 2 stick kit >8GB - Bare minimum/Light desktop use. >16GB - Standard amount >32GB - If you have to ask, you don't need this >CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 2933MHz+ is ideal. Check "more" for true latency formula
Graphics cards >RTX 2000 cards; cheap models usually low yield processor. Aim for factory OC versions for best performance >use your due diligence with cheap MODELS ie MSI Armor (Mk2 is ok), Gigabyte G1/Wf, ASUS dual, and others w/ small heatsinks and low quality fans. They may be cheap, but won't get high boost clocks like better models 1080p >RX 570/580/1060 6GB - standard 1080p 60fps+ options 1080p@144hz >Vega 56/1070ti best value, Free/G-sync monitor highly recommended 1440p@60-75hz >Vega/1070ti/1080/2070 1440p@100+hz >1080ti/2080 4K >Upscale from 1620-1800p. Or 2080Ti, but awful value OpenCL use >Vega 64
Storage >Backup before using StoreMi >Consider a larger SSD (better GB/$) instead of small SSD & HDD >2TB HDDs are barely more $ than 1TB >M.2 is a form factor, NOT a performance standard
Display >Consider 75hz minimum; 60hz are mostly old models >Always consider FreeSync w/ AMD cards >START YOUR BUILD WITH A MONITOR FIRST, then make a build to drive it appropriately
I already have a build with a b450 tomahawk and ryzen 3 2200g, and I plan on getting a 3rd gen ryzen chip when they come out, what's a good motherboard that will pair with the ryzen 7 3700x or whatever they'll call it? Or will they release a new chipset with the new generation?
Matthew Cruz
I am just gonna be short: I want to build a PC and slap a 1070 on it, what's the best CPU to pair it with? I'm open to both intel or AMD suggestions
Charles Parker
i5 8400 probably
Josiah Myers
>already has a mobo >whats a good mobo to buy for no reason Already great start to this thread, we should call it /50iqg/ instead.
Liam James
Why would I pay R7 prices for a locked bottom end i5?
Tyler Howard
Because muh incel.
Oliver Evans
Reposting...
It should be a noise/thermal test anyway, not a framerate/frametime test. Or at least how long the CPU can maintain its max frequency under PBO, with what voltage offset if the mobo is compatible (id est not an MSI board).
>3000MHz CL16 It should be CL15 if it's 3000MHz. Aside from that, you could try a mATX build with a Mortar and a Thermaltake Versa h15.
Nathan Wright
Ehh ill stick to regular ATX but i'll swap the ram, ty
Noah Williams
So that there's no confusion: 3200MHz should be CL15, but 3000MHz should be CL15. Preferably you'd want the faster RAM even if theoretically both case should provide the same latency.
Liam Cook
>Fuck it up anyway 3000MHz CL16 of course, fuck me.
Asher Reyes
>bought this 280X a few years ago >sold it to my cousin >he sold it off to his cousin >he wanted to build a PC with it and contacted me Hello again old friend turned out pretty cohesive looking though, kinda got a yellow theme
Wait... no. I should stop, it's getting embarrassing.
Ian Phillips
I gotchu qt Ill get 3200 cl16
Elijah Reyes
Ryzen 5 2600 for economical choice. Ryzen 7 2700x if you want better multithreading performance. The am4 socket still has 2 gens left of life. So its prob best to get the minimum you need and then buy the flagship of the last gen to last tou until the next socket cycle. Always takes at least a few generations for it to be worth upgrading. So 2020 cpu last you until 2025.
Jeremiah Morales
It is a good mobo, but I doubt it will be good for ryzen 2 chips, especially since it doesn't allow overclocking
Noah Baker
>Tomahawk B450 doesn't allow overclocking wut?
Grayson Walker
It's not that it doesn't allow OC, it's that MSI doesn't do voltage offset, so you can't properly exploit PBO.
Lucas Watson
I want into RTX and the cheapest I found is the Gainward RTX 2070 Phoenix for 560€. There's no review yet on that card: should I just buy it?
>falling for the RTX meme or you could just flush your cash down the toilet.
Carter Morgan
is a gtx 1060 still good? Thinking between a 1060 or a gtx 1070ti.
If I bought a 1070 ti, I only have a budget for a i5-8400. Conversely, I can pair the 1060 with a i5-8600k.
Which one is better
Cooper Turner
You literally cant tell a difference with rtx and if you buy 2070 youre gonna have real console experience with 1080p30fps.
Samuel Ortiz
1070ti + r5 2600
Landon Campbell
>Avram Every time
William Stewart
This: . Intel i5 are either too expensive at the moment in the case of the 8400, or sitting in no man's land in the case of the 8600K. The 1060 is more expensive than the comparable 580, so you're really asking between a R5 2600 + 1070Ti or R5 2600 + RX 580. In which, case, depends if you want to play at 1080p/60FPS or 1440p/60FPS.
>friend needs new computer >suggest him to go with Ryzen 2600 (200$) + RX 580 >he buys i5 8400 (310$) and 1050Ti instead Apparently because "Intel is better in games and is premium quality".
Dylan Collins
>he can shill all he wants on a weebo image board >but he can't convince real people to buy his fanboy club products Maybe if you spent time making good arguments instead of shitposting with wojacks you could convince somebody.
Julian Perez
shills war
Andrew Clark
Should I build a new rig now or wait for Zen2? Also browsing the second hand market for a used 1080 ti but not sure of it's worth by next year. Current pc is an i5 4460 with a GTX 970.
Kayden Lee
I have the money in the budget to get the RTX2070, and getting older models would save me just 10~15%. I was only concerned about the specific model, because I've never heard about Gainward before.
Logic doesn't work against Intel fanboys. Their loyalty to the jew reigns supreme.
Dylan Howard
>Logic doesn't work against Intel fanboys. Their loyalty to the jew reigns supreme. Nice "argument". See this is what I am talking about. You might think you sound smart in your own head, and maybe even other fanboys will pat you on the back, but literally everybody else looks at you like a moron when you speak/behave that way. Nobody is going to take you seriously and you wont convince anybody, even you are trying to convince them of something true.
Jaxson Diaz
too add to this, this, it's very similar to how SJW didn't convince anybody to vote hillary, and just circle jerked in their circle thinking they are superior and have won.
Luis Wright
Struck a nerve, I see. Of course the jewish defense force will deny their rabid loyalty.
t. intlel bias It's a shitpost friend, and I found it funny
Benjamin Turner
>tell him how he can't convince anybody because all he does is shitpost with memes and what does he do, rather than learn form his mistake he instantly goes back into his delusional world and starts to >shitpost and show everybody that he is incapable of logical discourse
Wyatt Allen
kek the retarded intel shill lives in a parallel universe where intel sells better
You seem pretty high IQ, do you also enjoy rick and morty?
Ethan Green
thanks
Asrock one is kinda ugly tho
Eli Anderson
Yes we would retard, Jow Forums is a ryzen board
Dominic Howard
Yes but MSI boards don't do voltage offset and you need it to exploit PBO. Otherwise you'll have to go for X470. Deal with it.
Andrew Sanders
Wait, is this guy debating for 8400/1050ti against 2600/RX580 because the latter is antisemitic?
Jaxon Smith
I'm just surprised the 2700X is selling as well as the 2600.
Dominic Wood
Muh streaming.
Levi Lewis
Looking for a 1440p gaming monitor with gsync and 144hz refresh, last 2 attempts have been met with dead pixels galore and a weird bug. Was going to try the ASUS ROG Swift PG279Q since my only issue was it refusing to turn on after going into sleep mode sometimes but it's out of stock unless I want to pay well over msrp. Have a 1080 and an 8700k and will be upgrading to a 1080ti or an rtx meme card that I'll never use rtx on.
Jordan Barnes
Everytime I go here I regret getting an i5 8400 last week instead of a ryzen 5 2600 because I fell for Jewish schemes, not a huge price difference of like 60 dollars but still
Asher Lopez
I bought pic related to go with my new ryzen 5 build, thinking it was compatible but it seems a lot of people are having issues with getting it to run at the advertised speed. did i fuck up ? AYMD's website lists it as compatible (v5.39) but i got the v5.32. does anyone have some experience with that ?
About how much more expensive will it be if I opt to go for a smaller mini itx build vs a normal sized micro atx build?
I noticed the decent cases are like $200.
John Flores
how good (or bad) is amd's stock thermal paste?
Grayson Hall
if it doesn't work just return it
Noah Hall
And you wonder why you can't convince anybody of anything, even if the said thing is right. >must be da joows making my speech pattern icomprehensible to all these goy filth around me and not because I sound like a tard manchild oh well.
Levi Barnes
So, I'm planning on getting this build but I doubt about thermals, airflow and fan placement. I don't plan to overclock as I'm playing at 1080p@60hz dual screens but I'm planning to switch to 1440p@144hz by next summer pcpartpicker.com/list/sFYqXP
I am 18 and doing a pc build for the first time (always used my uncles hand me downs) Do I actually need anti static mat / braclet or is it a meme, thank you in advance for answering this honest question.
Nathaniel Turner
no and if you're that worried, ground yourself by touching something big and metal
Nolan Torres
QVLs are almost always outdated. just try it out and return it if it deosn't work properly
Carson Scott
how long can you keep something before returning it ? (on amazon)
Kevin Mitchell
14 days after delivery
Levi Brooks
That case is barely a case and more of a fan holder. You should have absolutely no issues regarding thermals, as long as you keep the basics of fans in mind.
Carson Wright
i might be fine then, thanks !
Carson Campbell
I run a r5 2600 with mine (16GB DDR4 3000MHz RAM) get >140 fps in every game I play @1080p max settings (and I mean max on everything even GTA's dumb grass setting)
Juan Russell
"intel is better in games" then they pair it with a fucking gimped card and wonder why they cant hit 60fps every fucking time
James Nelson
ESD is mostly a meme but it's worse in the winter. Just don't wear fleece or anything while working on it, and touch something big and metal before starting and every so often.
Hudson Phillips
Just wanna clarify, you don't //actually// think that i5 8400 + 1050ti > r5 2600 + rx580 for games? if you genuinely think the 1050ti will compete even with the better vidya performance form intel CPU you are properly brainwashed and lacking a few chromosomes.
Logan Gomez
is PBO not functional on, say asus b450 prime plus? and to clarify PBO is AMD's "self overclocking" feature, right? precision boost overdriveruuu
Isaac Perry
CL15?
Joshua Long
Da comrade, its two 8GB LPX sticks, D.O.C.P (asus' XMP) recognised the speeds and ran them at 3000mhz no problem.
Nathan Cruz
I made no statement on what the guy should get. I only made a statement on that shitposting, wojacks and "here is how you feel" images and false flagging, only make you look like a retard in real life and nobody will listen to you. But of course you can't actually read my posts and go >so you be saying that >that you think intel is better?!?!? REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Carter Young
Based, run the same exept 580 nitro+ cause im a 1080p poorfag
Ian Sullivan
>MSI motherboard >Seagate HDD I hope not
Kevin Turner
>this it won't even last a week l0l
Brody Gutierrez
Stop complaining about what your mobo looks like and buy the AsRock.
Logan Miller
Don't feel too bad, you didn't know any better. As long as you don't come here and start violently shitposting about how AMD is trash. $60 is really nothing in the grand scheme of things.
Kevin Garcia
>overpriced gimp card >mshit mobo >seashit highfailurerate hdd this has got to be the shittiest build ITT
Top intake and top + rear as exhaust. What I'm not sure is where should I place the radiator. Some say the radiators should be placed at the front as it helps CPU's temps, but I think 3 fans at the top is overkill, specially when the top doesn't have a dust filter.
Asher Stewart
>top intake bold move
Colton Brooks
holy fuk are you trying to sleeve every wire in your house?
Daniel Reed
To show that you don't make savings by buying more.
Chase Hill
So you got upset by some kid memeing "intel r bad lel" gotcha. I also said that the specific pairing of hardware in this case, the choice that happened to use an intel CPU was worse, ultimately because of the GPU he paired it with. It has nothing to do with which shitty processor he chose, you sponge. So I'll ask again as you completely avoided answering the question, you don't actually think when comparing those two that the intel + 1050ti will out perform the amd 2600 + rx580, do you?
Very nice, the RX580 is such a comfy priced card for the performance. You ever had any issues with it? I didn't complain about the looks, you're miss quoting posts, user. I asked about PBO on other b450 boards, specifically the board I already have the asus b450 prime plus.
Jonathan Roberts
Are you anti-semitic or something?
Xavier Hill
Dunno, go check the BIOS or the specs sheet.
Jaxon Martin
>So you got upset by some kid memeing "intel r bad lel" gotcha. >so you be saying that And there you go again. You literally can't engage other people in anything they say. You have to push your own strawman and then heroically defeat it.
And you wonder why nobody in real life takes your advise on anything.
Isaiah James
No man, just custom length cables for my build.
$100 for 1 small 1/medium sleeve, 300ft ea $100 for fucking heatshrinks (what the fuck!!!!!!! $50 for crimper, I'm okay with that And the rest went towards connectors.
I Googled their sata connectors and there was literally a 100% markup. Mouser was selling them for $.9 cents and it was $2 on the site.
I only bought what I felt was exclusive to the site (they're the only ones who apparently sell "true black" connectors) and nothing more.
With the exception of the heatshrink this is only barely enough for one build.
