Vivaldi - It's like Opera but slower

Botnet

Bach is better

Proof?

a modern recreation of opera 12 with half of the functionality and at half the speed.

I like it.
it never did anything I didn't want it to do.
you can audit the code if you have nothing better to do.
it's as snappy as can be on my machine so I don't know what the complaints about it being slow are about.
haters gon hate.

>you can audit the code if you have nothing better to do.
No you can't.

i really like it

Just tried it out.
Pretty good so far, to be honest.

>We'll block ads apart from these ads which advertisers have paid us to serve you.

This. Vivaldi is very listenable, and I always feel the need to defend his composition skill against people who claim that everything he wrote 'sounds the same'. But there is ultimately no denying that he is no Bach.

It's nonfree software so it's botnet

It's a Chrome reskin made by pajeets for pajeets.

it's shilled so much I don't want to use it anymore

feels comfy man

>url in the bottom
Why'd you do this

why not?

Yes you can

botnet, but slower

vivaldi.com/team/

>that wales dude

Attached: b2r.jpg (478x487, 94K)

not that great but at least it supports drm codecs on linux unlike opera (which is better)

Vivaldi is chromium.
Brave is chromium
Opera is chromium with chinese botnet

Everything that isn't firefox is chromium.

>Everything that isn't firefox is chromium.
Which is good, because new Firefox sucks ass.
There is no sandboxing without PulseAudio and so on.

based on chromium

Good? This situation is terrible. There are only two actual browsers that run the modern web and they both suck. Edge is an almost-third but it's had far too many "WONT FIX" so called "edge cases" (tee-hee) it's hardly a real candidate if you are wanting to make or run web apps.

>There are only two actual browsers that run the modern web and they both suck
Stop being a drama queen.
There are a number of excellent browsers.
For example "qutebrowser" and "vimb".

Also, what exactly do you dislike about Chromium?

>hot glue thread
bruh

>at half the speed
I don't use Vivaldi, but the modern internet and JigoloScript autism are at fault for this one.

>All changes to the Chromium source code are made available under a BSD license and can be read by anyone on vivaldi.com/source/. Details in this regard are explained in the the README and LICENSE files within the package.
>In addition, our UI code is written in plain, accessible code for those who read HTML, CSS and JS. This means that for all practical purposes the Vivaldi source code is available for audit.
vivaldi.com/source/

it's open source.

The most recent annoyance i've had with chromium is the way they broke the audio api by requiring it be created during a UI event handler, which wasn't necessary to fix the auto-play sound issue, and which manages to break a bunch of legacy apps. When people complained they rolled it back partially and temporarily and now it's back still unfixed.

My most recent annoyance with firefox is the fucking retarded decision to break performance.now() as mentioned on that vsync testing page i posted My most recent annoyance with Edge is the fact a 2 year old bug is STILL not fixed where you can't access localStorage from a local HTML file. Fucking retarded.

I wanted to call you out on attention-whoring with the URLs, but the fact somebody responded to your posts, tells me genuinely browse these threads.
I could understand everythin, but hot glue man, jsut why ?

Of old versions, yeah. Not of the latest builds. And there's no guarantee that the distributed binarys even use the same code.

its unstable

You mean... does he have to go Bach?

>it's open source.
Not free software though. But yeah, it's auditable.

kek

>tfw safari isn't broken
feelsgoodman

>Not free software though
And that's good.
Open source is more than enough.

Nah Vivaldi's UI is largely written in JS lmao it's slow as shit takes a second or 2 to open an incognito window where in Chrome and Opera it's instant

which I couldn't care less about because all I want to do with it is browse teh interwebz.

Youtube doesn't work on my machine.
Into the garbage can it goes.
I use MPV for most videos, but still open it on youtube to give views to the creators I like.

How do I get these to go away

Attached: Screen Shot 2018-11-27 at 09.15.35.jpg (3520x2214, 469K)

shit didn't mean to circle the tab bar

Hit F4

I meant Alt+F4

No, just F4.
That's just for the side bar, though. For the status bar at the bottom, hit Alt+P for settings, go to Appearance, and select "Hide status bar".

>All browsers are Chromium or shit
Are there some good browsers?

it's a good browser but i don't see why i should use it over firefox.

I mean it looks cool.

Full of features nobody asked for and retarded sidebars that waste space.

Thanks. didn't see it at first.
How can you make the tab bar a constant colour?

You will need to patch that in yourself because Vivaldi doesn't come with proprietary media by default, unless you're on windows.

help.vivaldi.com/article/html5-proprietary-media-on-linux/

>Full of features nobody asked for
Been using Vivaldi damn near since it came out and I tried going back to Chrome and it felt like a massive downgrade. If you don't find value in what Vivaldi has added then I don't know what to say
and you can hide the sidebars by the way

I think this has been parroted so many times over the years that people just accept it as fact

it's chrome with a bunch of fucking proprietary js and css piled on top of it instead of a ui

>js and css
>proprietary

a proprietary=botnet chromium skin. only retards and shills use that shit.

>proprietary botnet
Why is Jow Forums filled with so many retards?

It'd be nice if it wasn't so bloated and slow. I like the design and features.

That's a bit better hidden.
>Settings | Themes | Edit (pen icon) | untick "Accent Color from Active Page"
Or pick a theme that has it off by default.

Votnet

The less you know about something the quicker you are to have an opinion and make retarded assumptions

Thanks

I enjoy the gorillion stupid unique features it has. I use like, 2, but it still fits my needs. Best chromium-based browser out there.

Maybe it’s slow on your shitty outdated Thinkpad, for everyone else it’s fine

It kind of seems to take longer to launch but everywhere else it's fast, it's got a lot of features and it supports chrome extensions.

Yep, Vivaldi is a solid alternative. Most people on this thread have never used it and are likely Firefox fanboys

I like the built in gestures, hiding bookmark text, hibernating tabs and the other customization.

>hibernating tabs
THIS
there are really a lot of features for power users hidden in there besides its pretty apearance another good one is the history stats. Ill post mine. Feel free to hate me.

Attached: Screenshot from 2018-11-28 12-55-46.png (1248x873, 331K)

Vivaldi is great EXCEPT for the auto completion on urls. It is awful at that.

Yet another Chrome reskin. Nothing to see here.

Plenty fast on my 2600k from 7 years ago bro.

pfft wrong. It's ungoogled chromium that allows you to run chrome apps/plugins.

>supporting jewgle locking people into chrome via youtube """not working""" on other browsers

Attached: shiggy-4.jpg (250x250, 24K)

not only this, but lots more customization with the UI (for power users)

Pretty good browser desu

Attached: vivaldi.jpg (3840x2114, 1.12M)

Bruh you need to l2linux and troubleshoot that. Youtube and Vivaldi work fine on Linux.

>chrome, chromium, vivaldi, opera, brave, qute, &c&c&c
>there is a meaningful difference between these
Whatever you say, man.

Attached: moloch-3.gif (267x512, 80K)

>daily mail
>drudge report
>he gets his news from tabloids

Attached: disbelief.jpg (700x520, 84K)

How do I make a black blank page for my new tab page?

>Drudge and dailyfail

Yeah, sorry m8 but even if I was inclined (and I'm not) I'm not going to take anything you say seriously...

There's a difference. You can't run Chrome addons/plugins on Brave, Opera, and most others. Having that feature is a big plus.

what theme is this? also what is that extension on the right of uBlock??

one of the default themes, "Hot Pink"

And the extension is Session Buddy, which I used on Chrome and used to import my session to Vivaldi. With Vivaldi's features, I kinda don't need it anymore.

You could always just set your new tab page as a local HTML file

>Not using Tabs Outliner
Fucking pleb.

Tabs Outliner?

>"I can't right click and search google: The Post"

chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tabs-outliner/eggkanocgddhmamlbiijnphhppkpkmkl?hl=en

gramps, this is 4channel. it's all good now.

the best browser

Chromium is same Jewgle as Vivaldi, so your point is moot.

Why do they do that?
Are there royalties for using these codecs?
Maybe there is a way to integrate MPV into the web page?

I might give it another chance, after seeing this post.

still can't sign into youtube
so i'll pass

It works on my machine

Firefox took a shit, and some zoomer genius at opera HQ decided not having a home button is kool so this is what I got to work with.

Attached: vivaldi.png (1920x1080, 80K)

Pretentious fags will claim they like Bach for the technicality of his works, but in reality they don't want to listen to his music with all his fringes and decorations, it's just tiresome to listen to.

Post a DL link to Opera 12 then, guy
Never used it
