Serious answer: it's an egg and chicken problem.
It's taught because there's a big demand for it, and there's a big demand for it because it's taught (i.e. a safe option because of tons of Java developers).
Just like in SV and NodeJS.

It's quite a big demand in Britain right now. Where most of them speak English and if they learn Java in Pajeet-land then they're usually getting a job here. I work with loads of them and most are usually shit-tier.
