Which brands tend to have 3.5mm on both sides? I don't want any custom shit where I'll have to shell out $30 when a cable breaks.

Chinkfiman
Don't worry it will break

You can easily mod the hd5xx headphones to use 3.5mm cable

LOL, Stax being audiophool meme confirmed

A new meme was born in previous threads:

Stax incel - An audiophool who got memed into buying expensive electrostatic headphones which actually sound worse than a cheap mid-fi dynamics. Being a victim of buyers Stockholm syndrome Stax incel tries to defend his choice as hard as he can, but he always fails because you can't argue with facts. Stax incel is a part of "Most Valuable Goy" meme.

Best closed back headphone in production

Is anything a worthwhile upgrade over the ol' O2/ODAC combo yet?

It isn't Stax.

With this, it should theoretically be possible to use usb powered DAC/AMP with an android phone, right? Only disadvantage is, having to carry 3 devices isn't very practical.

Thats amazing! Are you gonna rip them? :D

You can use one with your phone anyways, it'll just drain your battery.

Sorry i impersonated idol trash :( now I feel bad... but i do listen to love live kek

Why is she using overpriced low quality headphones?

Such a shame that the modularity concept never took off, although I do love my G5 SE.

Always thought real (and probably expensive) headphones were out of place in drawings, uncanny valley crossover kind of wierd.

>tin t2s come tomorrow/thursday
>elac debut 2s come tomorrow
>5 bird cds coming in from nippon
>tape from russia
>werewolves of london picture disk in preshipment
>topping dx3 pro nowhere in sight yet
>and my fucking yarn is probably doa
i love christmas shopping.

Apologies for the pleb question, but I'm getting a pair of M40x headphones and a Fiio A3 portable amp in a few days, what would you rate this setup/what can I expect from the sound quality?

m40x is okay but the pads are not comfortable to my ears. amp is kind of a waste unless you really need more volume

the build quality is kinda shit. could have done better getting sennheiser momentum 2s used on fleabay and a new cable on amazon if needed. i use a 4' braided red cable. plus it's winter so it warms my ears withc omfy pads :3
if you could have done iems you could have gotten tfz queens.
m40x just isn't a great option anymore for the price.

>HD600 has no sub bass
ok
>HD600 has no bass
lol

fucking california wildfires delaying my shipping :(((

58X actually has some rather pleasant sub bass

I have a hard time getting a good seal with senns though

tin t2 pro vs shure se215 for sleeping?

Ditch the amp for better pads. Dekoni pads fit the best although Brainwavz hm5 pads are a good cheaper alternative. The stock cables are also kind of annoyingly long and you may want to get a new cable (you can find 4 foot replacement wires for like $15 on Amazon) A lot of people seem to complain about build quality but I think its just fine really, I dont treat mine rough but I'll toss them around on the bed and shit and they are just fine.
I've seen people here say they also sound like shit but I own multiple $1000+ headphones and I still like my m40x.

Anyone have any cute pics of anime girls wearing ATH-M50s?

yikes

Can anyone recommend a good reference pair of headphones for studio use? I keep seeing Sennheiser HD 600s pop up, but I can't tell if this people meme'ing or not.

I need something that is going to let me mix and design sound well because my neighbors started complaining about "thunder sounds" coming from place.

I'm looking around the 300 range. I know that's not going to get me anything mind blowing or be able to replace my monitors but just need something that will let me work through the night for now.

HD600 is a solid choice, but the sub bass is rather weak.

dt770

Shure

Do you happen to know how the soundstage is with them?

Those are closed back, so not idea for what I need. Looking for open. My fault for not mentioning that in my original post.

It's close and intimate, especially for an open back headphone.

Then HD600 or HD650

Cool, thanks anons.

Why isn't audio a more common "hobby?" Shit's fun.

Because shit also gets expensive real quick

Because even normalfags can tell that there's a pretty intense market for expensive placebo bullshit

thanks! any pair comfort than the 215, and also why are they rated low on amazon?

if your job doesn't require any of that expensive gear then it's pointless. At least you guys use them, while camera fags might not even use their crap not even once.

lol meant for you

Stop hating on ath m50 you're making me sad. I bought mine in 2009 and they've served faithfully as my portables ever since. They sound good too. Not good enough to spend more time marveling at the sound than the music but good enough.
Ath m50x must be shit though can't imagine these with that much more bass
Bad buy today because chinkshit but if you got them back then we can be friends

when in doubt blame the jews

There are good headphones. But today I would not recommend them.

I got a pair of dt770s for 55 bucks, how can I make them louder, currently plugged into my laptop, what amplifiers are good for a decent price

Wait a second!!! Second season of Love Live is not about Muse????

share paper

Is the atoms amp a lot better than the amp in the DX3 Pro?

I know a guy from the Fraunhofer IMDT team who repairs Stax headphones on the side and says that the 009 is the most frequently broken headphone. The membrane is too thin and tense, ripping apart easily and being more prone to burning from spark overs. Be smart and buy the HD 800.

Nah I've heard 1/2 pairs of HD800 gets stuck at xmech (85dB or so) and will heat up and melt the voice coil. Better to go with something more reputable, like hifiman.

You won't hear a difference.

I fucking hate Jow Forums headphone threads. Too many of you assholes shilled for the ATH-m50 for years and years.
ATH-m50 is the shittiest headphones ever made.
Soundstage = zero
Sound = decent/below decent
Comfort = hurting
"Over ear" False it's on ear
The clamp is so strong you have to bend the "headphones" to a straight line a few times unless you want cauliflower ears.
And even then your ears will be red and swollen after a horrible session.

Attached: IMG_0335_2.png (621x696, 573K)

what's wrong, too heavy for your skinny basedboy neck?

r-really? Not even with high end headphones?

These are cans that are objectively not well padded and too heavy.

Attached: 1534455762243.jpg (500x500, 54K)

Throw them in the garbage or give them to someone you hate. You think they are decent... because you use them and don't know what real headphones is like. Get something better for yourself, thank me later.

help.

Both are fantastic, just get what you want.

don't take advice from hd820 owners they have no clue what they are talking about

I'm sorry I didn't validate your sóycuckold sennheiser purchase. I'll be sure to do it next time.

>Doesn't understand measurements

>"Surely the acoustic engineers at Sennheiser have no idea what they're doing and my evaluation has any merit whatsoever."

lmao "accoustic engineers". ayo hol up lemme stick a cut up earbud in the hd800 and then charge $700 for it. ayo lets close the hd800S and then double the price even though it sounds much worse

Buy Sennheiser HD58x Jubilee on massdrop for $150, they are the same as HD660s $500.

HD660s is one of the best pair of headphones ever.

Attached: 6bqXVb3wKW7O85lVnN5l9DSmiGklcxaV6aApyFJ4Q.jpg (549x768, 100K)

How do I take advantage of a balanced audio output? Is it as simple as buying a balanced cable and plugging it in? My HD598s have a detachable cable.

What do you use them with? I've read they can be hindered by some sources

Will the Dx3 pro drive any pair of headphones?

>"I hate companies that want to make a profit!"

I know you are memeing, but the driver in the 58x is much cheaper and distorts considerably more. It's on the same level as the 599.
