never

Always, continuously, perpetually

this helps

Don't trust windows self defrag.
It just doesn't work.
My 2TB partition went from 0% do 3% in just 14 days.

i use defraggler. is there a better option?

>software defragmentation
>not just waving a neodymium magnet over your platters

linux users can't even defrag

Usually when you make some drastic changes like deleting a huge files, or doing torrents. SSD don't need to defrag though.

Defrag every week if you have a spinning hdd, defrag daily if you have a ssd.

We don't have to, because you aren't restricted to one shitty filesystem. You can use NTFS on Linux, and guess what, no one uses it besides for Windows-compatible partitions.

ext2 is 25 years old. NTFS came out in 1999, and still is technologically inferior to ext2, that was created six years before. This is why you don't use microsoft's OS.

>using Wangblows

maybe

>Not using an SSD as the boot drive
>Being poor

whats the best "cheap" ssd i can get then? id never considered one before my load times and fragments got so out of hand

Yes not using a shit tier OS

sudo e4defrag -v /

or

btrfs filesystem defragment -r -v -clzo /

What now bitch

Whoever mentioned/brings-up that you should be defragging is inept and should be ignored for anything computer related, its automatic. It might seem a little extreme to ignore that person, but just vaguely hearing something and repeating that 15-20 year old outdated information without thinking means its fairly certain they are not thinking about anything else.

Define 'cheap'

under $200

I have this one amazon.com/Samsung-Inch-Internal-MZ-76E1T0B-AM/dp/B078DPCY3T?ref_=Oct_CABSellerC_1292116011_0&pf_rd_p=4f0af0fd-ca42-5f98-88c1-c88b33971658&pf_rd_s=mobile-hybrid-5&pf_rd_t=30901&pf_rd_i=1292116011&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=TPPMD74DX4GWP8DDJ1S1&pf_rd_r=TPPMD74DX4GWP8DDJ1S1&pf_rd_p=4f0af0fd-ca42-5f98-88c1-c88b33971658

thanks user. how difficult is it to install an internal one? ive never had one before

Please figure out some way to use the Enterprise settings.
Windows manages this by default on those versions, automatically once a week, and it's fine.

It's literally just a SATA cable, just like any other HDD. Except if you opt to get a m.2 SSD.
Also is this bait?

no, i'm hardware illiterate

>lzo

Disgusting

>2018
>almost 2019
