CPU
>CPUs less threads usually suffer lower 0.1% minimums
>Athlon 200GE - Bare minimal desktop/gaming
>R3 2200G - Light gaming(dGPU optional)
>R5 2400G - Consider IF on sale
>R5 2600/X - Good gaming & multithreaded work use CPUs
>i7-9700k/8700k - If you have a $2000+ budget and pairing with a 2080 or better
>R7 2700/X - Best value high-end CPU on a non-HEDT platform
>Threadripper/Used Xeon - HEDT

RAM
>Always choose at least a 2 stick kit
>8GB - Bare minimum/Light desktop use.
>16GB - Standard amount
>32GB - If you have to ask, you don't need this
>CPUs benefit from fast RAM; 2933MHz+ is ideal. Check "more" for true latency formula

Graphics cards
>RTX 2000 cards; cheap models usually low yield processor. Aim for factory OC versions for best performance
>use your due diligence with cheap MODELS ie MSI Armor (Mk2 is ok), Gigabyte G1/Wf, ASUS dual, and others w/ small heatsinks and low quality fans. They may be cheap, but won't get high boost clocks like better models
1080p
>RX 570/580/1060 6GB - standard 1080p 60fps+ options
1080p@144hz
>Vega 56/1070ti best value, Free/G-sync monitor highly recommended
1440p@60-75hz
>Vega/1070ti/1080/2070
1440p@100+hz
>1080ti/2080
4K
>Upscale from 1620-1800p. Or 2080Ti, but awful value
OpenCL use
>Vega 64

Storage
>Backup before using StoreMi
>Consider a larger SSD (better GB/$) instead of small SSD & HDD
>2TB HDDs are barely more $ than 1TB
>M.2 is a form factor, NOT a performance standard

Display
>Always consider FreeSync w/ AMD cards

asrock b450 or msi b450

Do people really consider APUs for gaming ?

It's all AMDrones have.

any fucking PC manufacturer that can sell systems to be paid in small payments every month? I really want a good PC but I don't have the kinda money to buy all the parts at the same time.

Poor babies, bullied by cryptominers, can't find an RX at a decent price unless it's a used mining shit.

also I have a good credit.

Save up small payments each month
Voila, you have money.

What’s the most cost effective gpu for playing games at absolute max settings but only at 1080p/60fps?

So you want to pay overprice for you components, a windows licence and other software you could pirate for free AND high interests on whatever loan they'll give you to buy it.
Are you mentally impaired user ?

Impossible to answer since GPU requirements vary.

well any better Ideas? I have like 200-250 money after bills, rent, and budgeted food every month.

I dunno, save like said ?
Games aren't gonna run away you know.
Or you can always start considering used workstations and start going insane with PSU power calculations and GPU compatibility like you're playing a russian roulette.

I want to build a computer for VR porn and DotA that never dips below 144 Hz.

Is 10 000 dollars enough?

You're gonna need a lot of cores for VR

i have an asus pa248q and a hp vh240a, 1920x1200 and 1080p respectively

i want to move onto the ultrawide meme, i have a GT1030 since i dont game, do i get a 34" 1440p or 1080p ultrawide? i love the asus display because of the colors desu so i need something with dank color display, couldn't care less about g-meme or memesync or anything over 60hz desu

Hey guys, if I add my titan xp and storage to this build would it be an OK gaming pc? Storage is a 2tb ssd and a 3tb hdd

Attached: Screenshot_20181205-095502_Sync Pro.jpg (1080x2220, 602K)

>720p
>no dedicated GPU
>relevant whatsoever

It'll do.

Anything I can improve? Budget can go further if need be?

Not really. If your 2TB SSD isn't NVMe then there'd be some benchmarking gains to be had by getting one of those, but the real-world difference would be about zero and would just be a waste of money.
The 9700k trades blows with the 9900k so there's little reason to throw more money at it there.

Seems like a great system. Wish I could afford it.

What cooler should I use with my 8700k? I'm looking at the Noctua DH15 because from what I read aio's give the same performance but with more noise and less reliablity.

>title says low detail
>bottom says medium detail
kek

Thanks mate appreciate it, I'm 35 with no kids etc so can afford it luckily that's all, doubt you're even near my age!

cope

>intel
A chiller should suffice.

Why is /pcbg/ against aesthetically pleasing components? all I see is ugly shit here.

Am i going crazy or are RX cards feeling snappier and "sharper" than Pascal cards? I have an RX590 and it feels amazing, my 1080ti is great too but there is just something about the 590 i can't put my finger on.

>adds extra cost
>looks tacky
>higher wavelength RGBs like blue can actually damage your eyesight

Gosh, I wonder why we would be against buying shit we don't need

what should i replace a 1TB WD blue HDD with, only other drive is a 250gb SSD samsung

I'm older than you, but I prefer the NEET lifestyle, which lends itself more towards bargain hunting on the used market. Sitting at home in a bathrobe and wrapped in blankets at 2.30PM on a Wednesday is pretty nice, though.

A 1TB WD Blue hard drive.
Or a Seagate.

You're probably just comparing a fresh Windows install to an old one. Bit rot isn't anywhere near as bad as it used to be but it still exists.

used bargain hunting is great shit though. Refurbishing motherboards and graphics cards with new pastes and thermalpads, hell even amazon mosfet heatsinks, and then making the most of your budget. It's a lot of fun.

Eeyup. Just put together an i7 2700k/212 EVO with a GTX 670 yesterday.
I wish there were more deals on used SSDs though.

That's a great system, done any overclocking yet? Also; I'm not that other oldfag that you were talking to btw, but i'm fellow neet on budget. Recently got an x58 motherboard and put an x5675 6 core in it, it clocks to fucking 4.6ghz on air. X58 is still great stuff.

It makes them feel special and unique

It hits 5.1, though it's too much for the 212 EVO at that point where it ramps to max to keep it below 80C.. I dialed it back to 4.6 where it's 60C with the EVO at idle.

>waiting
>when Zen 3 and 4 are coming

It's green like the algae growing on all the dead Seagate hard drives in the dump. The swirl is to remind you of the money you just flushed down the toilet.

How the fuck are RAM prices so high.
A single fucking 8gb stick is almost 80€. It's almost the same price as most motherboards for God's sake.
Any indication the price will be lower?
I'd like to get 16gb, but at this rate I'll have to stick with 8gb.

Attached: 1536799805599.png (571x618, 53K)

Say my budget is $500. What is the best GPU on the market? A 1070 Ti? Will be buying in 2 weeks from today.

2070

>coping this hard
Calm down bro. And learn to Zen.

What are some small mATX cases with interesting and efficient designs?
I recently got a Fractal Design Meshify Mini C and having such a huge chunk of metal feels truly archaic. I've nothing against the design of the case, but it is a huge enclosure with more than half of it empty.

Attached: meshify c mini.jpg (1000x1000, 455K)

I'm fellow 8gb pleb.

IIRC the ram "shortage" has something to do with cell phones and other bullshit they used to hike the price to crazy extremes.

Since I just play games I haven't ran into any times when I ran out of memory though so oh well.

I wont do anything more demanding than games too. But I'm afraid 8gb isn't future proof enough.
Fucking phones man.

R7 1700 + RX580 ok for mid range 1080p gaymer nonsense?

My PSU is whining at certain times, usually when the graphics card is at less than full load. Does this mean its dying?

Attached: 1543554668859.jpg (519x467, 54K)

Barracudas have the same reliability as WD Blues and are way superior to the last batch of WD Greens

At least with Barracudas you get 7200RPM in most models instead of the cuck 5400RPM speeds you get from WD Blues, Reds and Purples

They even released a "Pro" version which are basically better QC'd and better binned Barracudas with higher memory cache

Not sure how the other furfag branding stacks up to WD but Blacks are still kang and Seagate Enterprise drives are equal to WD Golds and are both inferior to HGST enterprise shit

Been looking at new monitors and I see there are quite a few options above 60Hz (75, 100, 120 etc.). Is it best to just go with 120Hz or is 144Hz or 165Hz worth it?

Could be coil whine or the fan bearing. If it's immediate upon placing a load on the system it's probably coil whine. If it gradually increases it's because the fan is ramping up to deal with the PSU heat.

If it's coil whine and it just recently started doing this where it was fine before, that would be an... interesting development. I'd tend to err on the side of replacement.

If it's the fan I'd just replace the fan. You don't even really have to do a professional job of replacing it internally (since that would often require soldering if they don't have a fan header), you could just snip the fan wire and tape a case fan to the outside of the thing.

144hz+ is only worth it if you own a 1080ti and above in addition to a 8700k/8086k/9700k/9900k.

Maybe the new Ryzens next year can hit 144hz+ but right now the 2700X can't hit 144hz+ unless its CSGO or any normalfag non-GPU intensive title.

It seems to only really be when I'm playing a game and them go into some sort of loading screen or minimizing the game, like when it's under less load all of a sudden.

That would normally be coil whine from the GPU, not PSU.

Asrock for Vcore offset and better audio (better Intel WiFi and LAN too I think?), MSI for better CPU power delivery (but pretty pointless without Vcore offset). I took the Asrock because I only do light OC.

I'm trying to find a USB 2.0 extender to connect my heat sinks rgb controller into its USB 2.0 header, but all I find are regular usb extensions. Are there any specific terms to use for such cable? I want to route it up and behind the mobo and then plug it into the head at the bottom so that the cable doesnt just cut across the front of the mobo.

They'll all be USB 2.0.
Don't spend more that $5 on one.

I have a 8gb rx 580, but my processor is old FX shit

Yes, the Meshify C Mini is definitely not space effecieitn.
I'd consider 18L-28L a compact size for mATX

I just bought a benq zowie xl2430 and I feel like I need a second good monitor , cause right now my second monitor is some budget philips I got from my stepdad. I just need another monitor for watching movies and shitposting, so it doesnt need to be 144hz or anything related to gaming. Anyone got tips? freesync?

>gpu
msi 2080 gaming x
>cpu
i7 8700k

Versa H15. Hardly an interesting design, but it's minuscule for the amount of hardware it fits.

It literally says in the OP, but depending on your budget and game, an RX 570 4GB to an RX 580 8GB will do. Why AMD? Because that's cost effective.

>budget around 1300
>mainly gaymen and linux shiz
>120hz monitor
>1080p

Thoughts? - pcpartpicker.com/list/qsRwZR

>Thoughts?
Doesn't the R7 2700X already come with a good CPU cooler?

Asus Prime x370-Pro or MSI B450 Tomahawk/Gaming Plus/Pro? I dont care about storeMI, rgb or how the board looks, i just want a VRM that wont get fried by OCd R7 1700 or anything more powerfull AMD throws out in the next few years.

>inb4 get 2700x and some x470

Source? Those prices have to be bullshit, 2 more cores per CPU and half the price?

So it's good enough for overclocking?

>RX 580 comes with two free games
When I got mine, it came with three shitty games that I would never play. I would rather have had the choices you do. Oh well.

Other than Newegg and Amazon. Are there any other websites out there?
I want to get the silver Evov X but it's sold out at both

Do you do any multi tasking to warrant a 2700X? I'd go with a 2600X and get a motherboard that supports voltage offset for maximum XFR/PBO gains. I'd also stretch for either a Vega or 1070ti.

No

Can someone tell me what's a safe vcore limit when trying to overclock a 6600k?

I heard that it's not wise to go over 1.375 for daily use. Right now, it seems that might oc is stable at 4.5 at roughly 1.36.

Aside from some occasionally benchmarking and streaming no not really.

Can you explain the voltage offset for max XFR/PBO gains? What motherboards support this?

>budget 2k-3k give or take I dont mind much
>gayming and some video editing
just want some recommendations on what might get the best value for a higher budget

>3k
just buy the best.

>updated

pcpartpicker.com/list/GymNjy

Does anyone know if the RX 570 can support 3 4k monitors, not gaming just lots of stuff open?

Any motherboard apart from MSI. MSI make some good AM4 boards, but they just lack voltage offset in their bios.
Read up on XFR2 and Precision Boost Overdrive. Basically PBO increases the CPU's TDP based on thermals and power delivery, although it's not measured in the way it dumps voltage, and quickly hits the thermal limits because of it. Basically if you have good cooling and pull adequate voltage out of it, XFR2 will be able to sustain higher clock speeds.
pcpartpicker.com/list/9GmNjy

All motherboards except MSI support Vcore offset. Vcore offset means you can have a lower voltage for stock clocks and higher voltage for overclocks. PBO won't work reliably when you're constantly on a higher voltage and generating more heat or something (someone correct me on this). All of this applies to AMD afaik, I have no idea about Intel.

Does MSI still use Killer Nic?
I got a MSI motherboard a couple years ago and it has a Killer Nic and it's the most cancer thing I've ever had to deal with

Is this memory any good?

Attached: Screen Shot 2018-12-05 at 3.05.47 PM.png (2554x856, 344K)

>pcpartpicker.com/list/9GmNjy
Sounds good dude thanks

Are you using Ryzen?

You're pretty well on the money. V core offset isn't important for manual all core overclocking which is why the budget B450 MSI boards are great for non X processors, but to make the most of PBO on the X CPUs, voltage offset is ideal.

I'm using some at the moment with an 8700K and it's been absolutely fine. Doesn't obstruct a large HSF either.

What would I be missing by going for RX570 4GB instead of 580 8GB?

How bad of an idea is it to run a new budget gaming build with my old power supply?

psu is the corsair cmpsu-650tx

Those things are made by Seasonic, so they're pretty unlikely to fuck up. Should be fine.

So I just got my new parts built today but the thing refuses to give any video output. How should I search for errors more that try only singular ram sticks and removing the GPU? Motherboard asus prime x470-pro.
Cpu AMD Ryzen 2700x
RAM Corsair 3000

Nice try, retard shill.

Try plugging your monitor into it's onboard video output and clearing the BIOS. Also check the manual for the value of the POST LEDs.

4 compute units and 4gb of VRAM

no, 8700k
bet, thanks, and ya, im using an NH-D15

And of course, double check you've plugged in the 8-pin CPU power cable.
