That's not asus and I have one, it's not bad actually for the price

wasting money on a NAS and traditional hard drives is fucking retarded.

you will end up spending like 2000$ on it over 5years and you could just spend that money on faster net and put it in the cloud.

physical drives are dead soon buying them for personal use with out the excuse of being a video editor or scientist will put you on a government list.

and FYI drives directly plugged into your system are literally slower than cloud storage if you have 700mbs or higher from a nas 150-200mbs would be enough to make accessing files in the cloud literally faster.

if you can afford building a nas you live in a place that has good enough net to pay extra for cloud. 3rd world people that cant use cloud due to expensive or slow net just plug harddrives in manually or via usb because they are poor cunts... fact you are even considering one shows you a retard and you probably think cloud isn't safe for your porn and pirated software.

google/Microsoft/apple don't care about wares or your porn cunt go cloud and stop wasting your time on stupid projects that will literally make you access files slower than the cloud and cost you more.

Yikes!

Nigga what the fuck

4tb drives are like 50 cents these days. You're some kind of retarded shill if you think pulling over the internet is faster than gigabit Ethernet

He's at least correct in that gigabit internet is faster than any dual drive arm nas. Not sure what clouds actually offer gigabit upload

>ASUSTOR brand name was created as a portmanteau of “ASUS” and “Storage”

Apologize, English is my secondary language. Please do the needful and answer question, sir.

Are there any good affordable NAS devices with more than one drive bay?

The only prebuilt NAS worth getting are 4bay.
For one bay you might as well plug an hdd into your router while 8bays are way too overpriced.

Recommend any particular model?
What company has good support and updates?

because clouds fly faster, the post

No. Litterally anything is better.

Get a shitty Dell thinclient, pop in 2 drives and run Ubuntu server with btrfs raid 1.

Problem solved.

I spent $600 on pcloud. I have the lifetime 2tb storage 1tb monthly bandwidth for life.

>for life
*** life of those terms with that company

This. If you rely on the cloud you're deluding yourself. If you don't physically own your own data (and its backups) you're setting yourself up for a really nasty surprise sooner or later.
