>great performance >saves the user money >Zen2 is looking even better!
How has Jow Forums benefited from the rise of Ryzen?
Have you noticed that the market is finally becoming competitive? With Ryzen and ARM chips finally making moves against the evil INTEL, computing can finally be fast and affordable for all!
Built a machine last year with an 8700k but this year I had to replace parts in my girlfriend's pc and got a ryzen 7 2700 because it was a crazy cheap price on black friday and I have heard really good things. Hopefully it lasts a while with a noctua cooler.
Luke Cooper
>How has Jow Forums benefited from the rise of Ryzen? free mousepads and bag
>competition finally began I dont see any competition. I saw intel getting brutally murdered. Once the corpse bleeds out, the new monopoly will be ryzen and we wont see new / better hardware for the next 10 years...
Parker Jackson
How do I get those?
t. Ryzen 1700x owner.
Xavier Rogers
Got a 1600 and it's smooth as sluts gaping butt hole. I think I'm going to buy a 3700 to use as a VM.
How is Intel going to recover?
Charles Rodriguez
Decent laptop quad core with SMT in a 15 watt package.
Josiah Davis
I really REALLY wish the leaks are somewhat real because I have to upgrade my i5 3570k this year to reduce the bottleneck to the secondhanded 1070 I got but I wonder how they'll perfom on games (yes I play gaymes) and emulators, for what I've seen Ryzen 1XXX and 2XXX do not perfom very well and that's a shame
Carter Baker
Heh, took me a moment.
Looking forward to the 3xxx parts. My 3770K is slowing me down in certain tasks.
Justin Perez
Are you the shopworker who posted about the promotion saying it started on the 1st of december?
Aaron Bennett
If AMD stick with 8 cores for R7s then a 10% IPC and 10% frequency bump, which is fairly conservative, would put AMD pretty much exactly where intel is as far as gaymen performance goes. If the 12 core R7 rumours are true, then it will depend how developers manage inter-chiplet latency, since non-uniform latency is something that software devs can have trouble with if they don't plan for it.
Honestly I would go to 8 cores because I don't think more cores mean anything outside real professional work
Caleb Sullivan
ITT a bunch of poor incels on a Taiwanese basketweaving forum praise red team for their current seeming victory over the opposing blue team hoping it means that they will be able to afford the best hardware. What the have-nots on the Chinese Tuk-Tuk forum do not realize is that this only indicates that it will soon be the red team jacking up prices and they will still be poor incels with old hardware.
Aaron Sanders
DO WANT
Jeremiah Flores
>Zen2+Navi in new consoles >16c/32t mainstream Desktop >7nm with ridiculous clocks >nowhere near house fire thermals unlike Intelaviv >prices lower than anyone could ever imagine for the performance it's all too good to be true. i honestly doubt those leaks but I do wish it's true
Luis Harris
frequency bump should be around 25%
Grayson Robinson
it will also mean intel will have to reduce prices, soon i5 will have to be 8/10cores for 250euros, instead of 4cores a year ago..
Zachary Martinez
I'm a simple man, all I want is a Zen 2 laptop.
Julian White
Looking foward to 500$ laptop with 6/12 and 1050ti perf.
Joseph Jones
7nm is as big as jump as 14/16nm was compared to 28m. zen 2 should reach 5ghz, the core count is dependant on what they decide, but r5 with atleast 8cores makes sense. 12cores is kinda crazy and imo will be only available on r7, while amd will introduce r9 for 16cores.
Camden Sanders
>12/16c mainstream SKUs >each core stronger than intels 239858325th revision of P4 core Arch HNNNG
That's just stupid, have you ever seen a generation bump up that much?
4.5-4.6 is what we should expect and that's fine, higher frequency in the refinement next gen
Lincoln Young
So 8 core 10cu+2gb hbm2 cpus when?
Sebastian Evans
more like HBM3 when. prices need to drop. will AMD & Samsung find a way?
Ian Hughes
>wtf how can ryzen be so cheap?////????? how long until the goyim wake up to intel price gouging?
David Howard
They would probably be pushing 10 cores if their 10nm process was working, but right now they seem to have hit the limit with the 9900k where they can't keep both high single and multi thread performance if they do increase core counts further.
Andrew Smith
most of this board is. those eternal wait fags with their sandy bridge cpu's looking forward to AMD Ryzenn 3xxx series while Intel had nothing to offer right now. maybe we'll see their EVEN MORE NEW THAN COFFINLAKE REFRESH with 10c or a new 10nm *lake if 10nm(actually 12nm now) is ready for production on 11th December
Caleb Reed
>if 10nm(actually 12nm now) shut up goy
Oliver Ortiz
You're a massive dumbass, going from 14nm to 12nm gave them a 200 MHz boost, but going from 12nm to 7nm will just give 200MHz again?
Parker Davis
will it give them 500MHz? bear in mind that 12 and 14 was on glofo nodes, this one will be on TSMC
Aaron Carter
They ditched P4 as soon as they could. All the Core lines are Pentium III-based.
Asher Carter
They aren't going just from 12 to 7, they are going from smartphone 12nm to desktop 7nm.
Ayden Harris
>Not having 32 cores to encode porn webms of weird stuff nobody else makes a fast as possible.
Disgusting.
Anthony Harris
yeah, that's why I'm mentioning glofo and TSMC
Aiden White
Waiting for Zen2 benchmarks and then going to upgrade from shintel 4770k to Zen2 if I like what I see.
Colton Harris
Kinda let down, I was expecting Ryzen to blow Intel out of the water but right now it is just managed to catch up to Intel.
I want a 1Ghz era technology race again, where as soon as you bought hardware it was already outdated.
Jack Nguyen
I really hope all of these leaks are true, I've been JUSTWAIT™ing for 5 years now
They need to get more manufacturers to use their cpus in their flagship laptops.
Gavin Morris
they already have i5 to 6cores and if new r5 is more 8core/16 at 5ghz, they will be forced to offer i5 at 8cores.
Camden Diaz
New intel processors struggle to keep up with 5 year old intel CPUs
Cooper Wood
FUUUCK JUST RELEASE ITTT I NEEEEEEEEED NEW CPUUU I NEED TO UPGRADE 3570K BECAUSE MOBO IS DYING!!!!!!!!!!!
Adrian Williams
one thread was made bt faggot and other is an actual technology question and look withc one got scolded
Wyatt Bennett
>implying Intel will die How naive
Intel will eventually respond with a real product just like how their Core2Duo and Core2Quad sunk AMD to near bankruptcy and irrelevance for a decade
History is repeating itself
Logan Morgan
>how has Jow Forums benefited from the rise of Ryzen? made myself a new pc with a 2400g as basis, saved me so fucking much cash.
Liam Evans
Don't worry. Intel will counter zen2 with 14nm++++++.
Jace Clark
Comfy as fuck. Upgraded from Phenom II X6 1055T to R5 2600. Smoothly handles my automated tests and multiple VMs
Cooper Gonzalez
>bought 1700 as upgrade from bulldozer >bolted into C6H >now prepared to the anal annihilation Zen 2 will deliver
Only tough choice is go all in with zen2 ver 1 or wait until 2020 for the inevitable refresh for the last chips to be supported by AM4. I must say though given the SoC nature of zen the fact that older motherboards can support newer chip feature (PBO for example) is a great boon to the platform.
Adam Watson
>I don't want competition because of an ill-placed attachment to a juridical entity that doesn't even know I exist Retard
Ryan Brown
just bought a 2600 with an asrock b350 itx mb and 16gb of gskill ddr4 3200 with Samsung memory Did I do good Jow Forums or did I get memed
Aaron Phillips
What you bought is the most cost effective cpu setup on the market today.
Cameron Diaz
dope. upgrading from an fx8350 so I'm pretty excited to see the performance difference
Austin Cook
It can range from impressive to night and day.
David Adams
>last chips supported by AM4 Will it be followed by AM4+ for another 4 years?
Angel Rogers
>poozen
Henry Richardson
pretty good
Liam Baker
Zen is cute!
Ryan Perez
How do I smuggle a future R3080 and Ryzen 3700 into Europe without getting taxed to death
Dr. Lisa Su ist speaking at CES early January, suspected to show new lineup for desktop. i would wait until then to pull the trigger, hope you're not in dire need right now
nigger I'm not autistic enough to know logos for literal who sites
Thomas Hernandez
2700x at 4.3ghz smt off, comfy
Grayson Parker
how much of a framerate improvement do you get with smt off?
Austin Young
Wanna know How I know AMD Ryzen 3000 series is the intel killer?
Linus shill-tips did everything they could to ignore the leak. Avoided telling any of the relevant details and after only 3 minutes immediately changed the subject and never mentions Ryzen again in their WAN show.
Its like the scene from Starship troopers when the Intel officer puts his hand on the brain bug and tells everyone its afraid. Thats intel and its shills right now.
Kayden Ross
So the leaks say they're actually going to launch in January? God I hope so. I settled on a 1700 in a pinch due to hardware failure and it can barely keep up with my 4790k. I need to know if I can go with a 3700X for a true upgrade or just crawl back to Intel. Come on AMD, get this shit right.
I tried turning SMT off on my Biostar X370 mobo and it failed POST. I reset CMOS and tried again, but it won't POST without it. Guess I'm stuck with those hyperthreads.
Personally I was trying to disable it for the security benefits, not for framerates. It's fast enough already.
Jacob Carter
>it's all too good to be true. Lower expectations to 0. It makes 100% sense to reuse the chiplets on literally everything (and it will be the case on latter archs if this one isn't it) to get almost 100% yields, but unless they can divide EPYC IO dies or resuse them as well, I can't see them putting two chiplets on mainstream.
Robert Rodriguez
>So the leaks say they're actually going to launch in January?
No - the leaks say announcement in Jan.
Dominic Ross
>Personally I was trying to disable it for the security benefits, not for framerates. It's fast enough already. Worthless if you're using a supported OS (when M$ stops holding them for stirring up shit). The mitigations will be applied regardless and maybe I'm not tinfoiling enough but as an individual user the chances of being impacted are small.
Let that puppy roar.
Nathaniel Garcia
Trying to make a sub 1000 build. Should I chose a R5 2600 or R7 1700, for vm some editing, cad and occasional gayming? Also what ram to chose? 3600 CL19 (16GB G.Skill SniperX) or 3200 CL16 (16GB G.Skill RipJaws V) or something else and cheaper?
Camden Thomas
Anything more than gaming, you should get the latest R7 and the best RAM you can afford with the best reviews.

My fav WoW youtuber Hazelnutty built a Threadripper 2950x PC recently.
