SSDs are essential for gamers, dude. Y'all don't even know.

idk ssds are alright
hdds are just fine nowadays

>ssd prices drop
>start shilling against it
>ssd prices high af
>ssd is the future. Have you already bough one?
Makes me think

In a couple of years ssds will reach price parity and hdds will become obsolete.

>faster
>far less likely to crash
>far less likely to corrupt your shit
>doesn't get BTFO by magnets
>doesn't need a fan
>literally no moving parts at all, actually
why WOULDN'T you want an SSD at this point? it's objectively better. more expensive, yes, but good things are more expensive.

What's the point of these threads and why do people bump them?

The whole hdd magnet thing is bullshit anyway. Hard drives themselves contain extremely powerful magnets for the size, already.

But yes, SSD is far superior anyway. You don't need 50tb of storage at $1k for fucking chink cartoons you can just retorrent.

>begin a gaymen in the current year of our Lord and savior

SSDs are better at everything except bulk storage and date retention (where they're actually worse). For bulk storage their performance advantages are essentially meaningless and the much superior price/TB of HDDs makes them much better choices.

what else can you do to have fun other than watching animations and playing video games? mowing grass?

reading
painting and drawing
solo sports

hmm
now that sub-1TiB flash drives have come down to earth, why wouldn't you?

stupid fuckin brainlet OP. literally a bait thread.

>used to draw a fuckton when I was a kid
>decided to break the endless loop of doing fuckall and shitposting here
>bought a 600 Euro intuos two months ago
>drew one shitty animu pic
someone save me pls

It's actually true for some games. Star Citizen barely runs unless you're on an SSD.

>needing fancy gadgets to draw
get a pencil kid

You can get a decent 240gb SSD for like 30 bucks dude.

I'm 29 dude
I had a shitty genius tablet before I used to draw on
decided to go big because the thing has atrocious stutter
this one is a fucking marvel but it doesn't MAKE me do shit

It's sour grapes as usual. Everyone wants an SSD, just not everyone can afford one.

HDD for media storage, HDD for compiling, SSD for everything else.

>not having a boot ssd and a file hdd
What are you fucks doing?

kek

I have a SSD for Windows, with a 1:1 HDD backup. I have all my documents, videos, and downloads from the internet on a 1tb HDD. I don't trust the SSD with shit I don't want to be bothered to re-download so I keep installers as well. Windows and programs are the only thing on the SSD.

>tfw SSD + moar RAM + linux breathes life into an old machine
stay salty

>i3 CPU
>8 GB RAM
>SSD
>1080p display
That thing is now current year level and not an old machine. I'm pretty sure you can still buy a weaker one straight from a store.

>almost 9 years old
pcworld.com/article/200716/HP_probook_4520s.html
this computer came with 2gb of ram, a wxga display, and win7 32 bit.

if SSDs are so bad than how come my ancient nintendo cartridge games still work?
Isn't ram solid state?

>muh bideo bamez
>just not everyone can afford one
What? They're cheap as fuck. Anyone who can't afford and SSD can't afford an HDD or a computer either.

>Anyone who can't afford and SSD can't afford an HDD
yah, it's not like they are 3x the fucking price per MB compared to HDD's or anything

This
But everyone who uses ssds will also own hdds in some form or other via large storage drive, either internal or external, nas or indirectly by putting their data on the cloud. But with 1TB ssds being so cheap right now, there's no reason not to have them.
I'm still waiting for something that can manage millions of files and not take hours to transfer.

They still aren't expensive if you aren't a turd worlder.

I'm about to buy a cheapo SSD myself, actually. Why shouldn't I?

True. Killing Floor 2 will boot in 20 seconds with an SSD but 5 to 15 minutes on a HDD

>tfw fell for the SSD meme

Everything is super fast and super efficient. Windows 10 starts up and logs into the desktop in a matter of seconds instead of taking 30 minutes like my old hard drive. Games load in a blink and files copy over in a flash now.

So yes, I'm glad I fell for it.
