In the movie he gets some expensive thing that is super popular, like an Apple product. I think Apple products coming out today are ugly. This is ugly too . Just because it's the future, it doesn't mean it has to be aesthetically pleasing to us. Most of the places, things, how people are dressed, even how they behave, are a bit "off".
