Look at it. Look how clean and elegant it is. It's shiny and impressive. Linux still hasn't gotten as good as this UI as windows 7 and it's why it'll remain at 2% usage.

Best desktop environment of all time. There was no reason whatsoever to change it, and every other desktop in the world should copy it.

Literally going back to W7 right now, W10 is a pain in the ass.

Vista was even better looking

Linux has windowmaker though, which is 100 times superior to anything else

>Linux
No thanks.

It looks like a Fisher Price toy.
This is how a real man's desktop looks like.

Attached: win7classic.png (1280x800, 74K)

Linux mint looks allmost the same

Linux mint is a distro. Not a DE.

Looks indeed beautiful, but the backend is a spaghetti pajeet clusterfuck. Not that W10 is any better tho.

>literally plasma 4 ripoff

Plasma 4 ripped off vista and plasma 4 isn't supported anymore

i don't really like it, i like the transparency, its useful to know whats behind your window, plust those ugly bezels around your programs

KDE 5 is better.

You can get cinnamon and xfce to look just a good as the windows 7 desktop

Attached: 1541650016489s.jpg (125x69, 2K)

I don't like the inconsistency with this theme.

>You can make xfce look just as good as windows 7 desktop
prove it

linux is going to remain at 2% because it hardly pertains to anyone

Which as heretic as it may sound it is true. That black bar was cool.

MFW I use the most aesthetic OS in existence but don't take advantage of the Aero theme because I want my computer to look like a 1337 h4x0r box.

Pics or didn't happen

Kde has a installable theme for looking like windows 8 or 10

That looks like a windows 10 clone

i don't have cinnamon installed right now but i know there is a pretty good looking theme on it

it probably is but it still looks gud

Flatshit

That looks like shit. 8 looked like shit but still better than that, probably because you can't fuck up flat design

The flatness is the thing that's fucked up about flat design.

Windows 7 was a bloated monster
1 GB of RAM for 32 bit and 2 for 64 bit. 16 GB HDD for 32 bit and 20 GB for 64 bit. Meanwhile I can do that under just 3/4th of requirements on linux with a WM.

You must be delusional, looks loting like Aero.

Yea, maybe bloated for 2009.
Are you still rocking a Core 2 Duo?

stop

Attached: bestdesktop.png (1920x1080, 1.01M)

Window Maker looks far more impressive than windows 7.

it actually is
read the changelogs

I prefer Plasma these days. Windows 2000 was my favorite Microsoft product.

Attached: Screenshot_20181209_211713.png (1920x1080, 1.63M)

wow thats the real deal

it's perfectly fine even for a piece of shit c2d srs

Attached: 098432759318.png (1280x800, 244K)

that desktop is literally pulled of r/unixporn
don't ask me how I know
(I was just searching for windows 9x themes)

Nope, sorry user, sadly the true GOAT patrician DE can only live on in our memory now.
>tfw old enough to have unironically used this in its prime. Those were good times

Attached: win2k.jpg (739x557, 46K)

Still looks like a bloated piece of shti

>first pc was windows 98 before i was even teenaged
>used classic theme on every windows until 8
I miss it lads

>tfw you didn't fall for the "just upgrade bruh" meme

Attached: feelsgood.png (659x609, 66K)

>3GB
>64 bit
retard

Where can I get a legit win7 iso? I made the mistake of upgrading to win10 (because mbr corruption)
I can’t trust the internet

>upgrading to win10
you mean downgrading

Windows 10 has the best Windows DE of all time. It isn't even close.
However,
>using a DE at all
bloat

There just isn't a cohesive OS underneath the UI. So, even if someone were to clone Windows 7's Aero for Linux it would end up like the rest of their DEs: buggy, slow and with applications refusing to show up on the "start" menu or if they do, they are not linked correctly.

I honestly cannot believe people un-ironically shill KDE as the answer to window's comprehensive UI design. KDE has at least 100 customisation options for *every single* window and popup (too much choice CAN be a bad thing), an IRREMOVABLE cashew and at least 100,000 dependency packages (if you go the minimal install) with thousands of programs you don't want and cannot remove. It is, like Linux distros themselves, a complete mess.

If someone were to clone the classic windows DE (and I am seriously considering it) it would be done for *BSD.

Attached: LIBERATORS.jpg (906x1330, 370K)

>Linux still hasn't gotten as good as this UI
Why would you need a GUI for a kernel?

>do not and will never need to run 64 bit software
thanks for your insight shitcunt

there are close to *ZERO* 64-bit only programs today. And with a fucking c2d you won't be able to run them anyway.
With a 64bit OS you're literally only wasting RAM, and you have 3GB to spare. FIX IT.

Honestly, after using GNU/Linux for the past year after I switched from Windows 10, everything is much nicer, cleaner, faster, better designed. Using the terminal is 10x easier than Windows navigation.

Be able to just run files so easily is great, it's simple.

vista was better

cinnamon is the ugliest desktop known to man

fair enough, will do. jesus fuck some of you are persuasive

I got a memepad with preinstalled win 10 on it. Jesus Christ it' so much worse than I expected.

The core2duo is 64 bit, mang

Its not like HDDs are cheap af nowdays and as long as you don't run thousands of them it does not matter.

How? What problems do you have?

It hasn't changed. The Start Menu in W10 appears different but when you use it it functions the same.

A good deal of muh games are 64 bit only.

what is this?

I don’t care what you fuckers think, Mac OS 8 and 9 were the fucking best. I wish I could have been old enough to truly enjoy pre-iFaggot Apple (and pre-Scientology Jow Forums for that matter)...

Just reading all the firsthand accounts about the Mac team creating the 128k from the Lisa and their wits is enough to inspire me

The VR support and linux-like automatic driver downloads are keeping me on 10 LTSB (for gaming).

Linux otherwise

The Linux people just need to cough up the coin to pay a real designer to make a desktop environment. I can't take it seriously with how amateur hour everything looks.

Just a little bit closer

Wrong mode

Attached: DeepinScreenshot_20181210024431.png (1600x900, 826K)

Better than Win7 desu

dam thats cool how'd you do that

neat, what's this?

Reminder w10 is a tablet os

isn't it funny how some borders make everything look so much better?

TELL ME HOW YOU CAN USE WINDOWS 7 SECURELY AS YOUR MAIN WITHOUT HAVE PROBLEMS WITH HACKERS AND VIRUSES PLEASE

Not him but I have a shitload of problems with 10.
For example one update took away all my admin rights, also made everything read-only on my D: drive and have to manually grant myself a write permission for every new folder created. Also the UAC can't be turned off.
I have a lot more problems but you get my point.

I used Windows 7 for a decade (same install) and the only virus I ever got was a weird program in my programs list called ???????? that said it was from a weird Chinese website that I couldn't uninstall.

Plasma 5 pumps a big, sticky load all over 7's interface, then slaps it before telling it to go clean itself up. Ever since Windows has been trying to put more and more makeup on to try and look sexy for plasma. And now it just looks like a clown in 10

The closest thing to a real DE Loonix has, as far as I'm concerned, is GNOME. That or Deepin but that's just a fork of gnome

>LXDE can run on the computers with RAM as small as 256MiB,
>XFCE requires 512MiB+ minimal
>MATE requirements can range from 512MB RAM to 1GB depending on the distro.
>Cinnamon requires 1GB of RAM minimal
>GNOME requires 2GB of RAM
>KDE requires 2GB of RAM
>Windows 7 requires 1 GB for 32 bit and 2 GB for 64 bit
Windows 7 is very bloated. You can rice a very lightweight DE on GNU/Linux to look like windows and use not even 100mb or even 50mb of ram.

>Not using the classic theme
Into the toilet it goes

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 56K)

The theme is very inconsistent. Look how the taskbar and icons clash with the UI.

>using desktop environment at all
Winbabies will never experience tiling window manager comfiness

Attached: download.png (1366x768, 116K)

yeah but only 1 of those actually work properly which is windows 7

>I installed i3 to pretend i'm l33t because I wanted to fit in on desktop threads.

>Windows
>Works properly
Pick one.

taskbar size small and turn off iconizing windows

Desktop icons still look a little weird even with setting the taskbar to look like windows 2000.

What exactly looks "weird"

Turn off font shadows and set icon size to small?

I dunno. I guess I just gotta get used to it. It's no windows 2000, but I guess I just gotta adjust.

he probably means the icon size should be set to a smaller size and turning off font smoothing

Attached: aaa.png (1280x800, 109K)

Impressive. Very nice.

If that is all of the shit you are claiming, why microcucks switched away from it like 3 times?, and for sure they are already working in the explorer.exe for winblows 11.
>literal unironic joy for being locked down to a joke DE.
Kids these days...

>screen tearing on poster

Attached: 1543953916873.png (238x160, 42K)

>why microcucks switched away from it like 3 times?, and for sure they are already working in the explorer.exe for winblows 11.
Because by the time windows 8 came out, flat themes were the cool new thing to do and microsoft wanted to take advantage of it.

Did you use an icon pack you downloaded from the internet or did you just turn some settings off? Because the icons looks different from default classic theme.

Attached: 1524279624240.jpg (467x350, 7K)

This one is better than this

I botched the edit on the right side
comparing the left sides only
it looks much better with borders

Attached: GEOS.png (639x401, 14K)

Please would you let us know which de and theme etc.?

left is deepin linux default theme, set to efficient mode
right is deepin linux edited with mspaint

Thank goodness this garbage nodriver bloated shit is in its final year.
