Waterfox does nothing other than disable a couple of about:config entries you can disable yourself. It's original purpose was to provide a 64bit version of Firefox back in the days when Mozilla didn't compile Firefox to 64bit, which they started to do years ago. Waterfox is now useless and it's devs only spread FUD. It's 7 versions behind Firefox, 4 versions behind Firefox ESR and it's not even Firefox 57 (quantum) yet.

You just don't seem to understand how the automated builds for actual open source software work? There is a proper chain of trust that makes sure that only the code currently being in the repo for the current release gets compiled. With waterfox just the dev knows what he actually is compiling

Firefox now consume more memory than chromium based browser unless you have lot of tabs opened, and just until they do a proper spectre/meltdown fix similar to strict site isolation on blink (now they have just fucked all the timers to mitigate it) that will further increase memory usage per tab.

Chrome doesn't run under a sandbox in Arch because the arch devs wisely enough disabled user namespaces which chrome uses to sandbox which in turn increase the attack vector by double of the security gained. after all Google is your foe not your friend you idiot. the seccomp Filter are just there to silence idiots enquiring about chromium security model. you'd be better off without namespaces and only seccomp which still is led secure than a stock Firefox run under for example firejail

also i run Firefox sandboxed without pulseaudio and it works fine. and who needs playable audio from the browser anyway. literally just send the url to mpv and you have way more comfort and no additional tracking. literally a button click to play media in a native player that has features other people can only dream of but you choose to play it inside a web browser instead
