Decent enough.
>write open source software
>only a few people use it
>nobody bothers you with bug reports or feature requests
>write open source software
>some guy from a country you never heard of contacts you and thanks you for creating it
nise fren
I know you're probably some kid who can't even write a fizzbuzz program but anyway... why not contribute to an existing project that you use on a daily basis instead of creating your own? Especially the smaller projects would probably be thankful to have another person helping out
>write open source software
>some guy from a country you've never heard of contacts you yelling about a bug that you can't even understand because his english is so bad he may as well be speaking a different language
Wut is it?
>"hello sir i am find bug pls fix"
>gives zero details on how to reproduce
>not doing a feasibility study before doing anything
Is it useful? Open/closed source doesn't matter. Do people need it? If the answer is no, are you advertising and shilling it? If no, no shit.
>Use open source project from China
They actually fix bugs, but their English is horrible
>Get github emails in Chinese when new issues
t-terry??
>country you never heard of contacts you and thanks you for creating it
>not knowing every country
This, a useful product will have it's users, regardless of it being free/paid, open/closed source or being marketed at all.
Neat
how can i popularize my open source projects?
>go
dropped
This
Open source software which no one uses is a inherently successful, popular closed source software is a failure. The idea of open source is for the benefit of the code itself, metrics of user adaptation or satisfaction are totally irrelevant because the goal is the code.
>make useful tool.
>People complain about it but don't offer suggestions.
yeah, I hate when they do that...
Found a typo in your README, not a very good sign.
>write open source software
>some guy from a country you never heard of contacts you and thanks you for creating it
>ports it to android, loads it up with advertising and takes the money and the credit
>thanks user
>write open source software
>some guy from a country you never heard of uses it in a terrorist attack and kills 136 people
> don't write open source code

> uhh what means that *sweats* mmmh maybe u should maybe write it again [because I cannot understand it]

user from has already star'ed
thanks fren
At least he's not a software pirate.
I maintain a fork that I know at least a few people use.
Shill it on fitting social media sites, wherever the kind of people who would be interested in that kind of software congregate. You know, "network" with people.
I have no idea how to do that either.
At least he doesn't use proprietary software
>too dumb to write software
>make fun of people who write open source software
>write open source software
>get pull request from iran
>don't check the code
>now all your users are part of a botnet
