Can someone enlighten me on output modes? I got DX3 and it has amp, amp+line out, DAC and pre-amplifier modes. Which is the one that combines amp and DAC?

preamps aren't really relevant to headphones but for speakers you have an amplifier that feeds a signals. power amps are the ones usually without volume control and just amplifies the signal with the same multiplier no matter what, so you use a preamp to control the level of the signal before amplification. basically it's a glorified volume knob.

Some brands are cheaper in one place, other brands are cheaper in another place. Europe gets good deals on basically all AKGs, most Beyerdynamics and then some particular other headphone models, a lot of headphone brands like Sennheiser are similarly priced in Europe and the US in the first place, in return Europe gets shafted on most Audio-Technicas and generally on Hifimans and Grados.

I really like Sony 1000X (noise canceling ones), they are good for frequent air and train trips.
XM3 (third generation) is the best. I own first one, and it's good as well.
But I still use them in wired mode, because with Bluetooth there is small audio dropout (1-2 seconds) every 10 minutes. No idea what causes it.
