General: >PLAN YOUR BUILD AROUND YOUR MONITOR IF GAMING >A 256GB or larger SSD is almost mandatory; consider m.2 form factor >rentry.co/pcbg-more
Looks pretty based. Do you really need that much power?
Gavin Collins
What the other user said. Look at Vega56 and pair with a freesync monitor
Joseph Brown
Freesync works with gtx just fine though.
Camden Edwards
Not bad but get 3000CL15 or 3200CL16 Check out the MSI Optix or Samsung CFG73 Get an m.2 format SSD Get a lower wattage PSU (actually more efficient at your power draw)
Kevin Davis
no, it doesnt
Eli Walker
It does when you have AMD graphics in your CPU. There's a trick where you make the bios think your gtx card is the AMD graphics. Suddenly the system makes freesync work for you.
It does when you have AMD graphics in your CPU Correct me if I'm wrong, but the 2600 R5 doesn't fucking have AMD graphics on board you irrelevant shit poster.
Julian Parker
>"Why should I care that TN panels have bad viewing angles, I'm staring at it from the front after all!"
I convinced a friend of mine to install a SSD and asked him to record boot times on his Win7 gaming laptop. He did record the time from pressing the start button to the reddit frontpage. >with HDD: 7 minutes >with SSD: 1,5 minutes
Why would you "build a PC" when you can buy a Mac? It just works nigga HAHAHAHAHA
Jaxon Morales
I want a monitor that's good for games, high refresh rate, gsync, 1440p. I currently have 3x Dell U2412. I would be replacing one of them (no space for a 4th). I don't want to kill myself finaicially, so any outlay up to £200 plus what I could get for selling a U2412. Ideas?
Brayden Gray
>so any outlay up to £200 plus what I could get for selling a U2412 >ideas? Nothing with G-Sync in that price range
Someone screwed up when copypasta and now it's like that forever. There's nothing anyone can do. I'm sorry.
Matthew Ortiz
I'm losing my shit over this PC build that isn't giving expected performance: >8700k (w/ Noctua D-15) >1080ti Strix >Maximus X Formula mobo >16gb ram >Win 7 (no updates installed yet) >EVGA P2 850w
Runs games really slow and with constant stuttering. Red Orchestra 2 has an almost stable 60fps with dips in dense areas. CS:S and TF2 run really laggy like 20fps even on lowest graphics which my toaster runs faster with. No overclocking (besides XMP RAM) is used. "Monitor" is a Sony TV for now. (Yes, HDMI is in the GPU)
Another weird thing is that when the PC gets turned on, it loses power for 5-10 seconds then restarts/resumes booting back on again. But if I turn off the ASUS lighting on the 1080ti, then it turns on normally without interruptions.
Also related, the 1080ti has an ORANGE glowing led before logging in to user, while my brother's 1070ti glows RED before logging in (Win10). So far my brother's 2700X + 1070ti + X470-F PC runs ANYTHING smoother and exceptionally well.
Any idea what would be the problem here? NOTE: that I am running basic Win7 64-bit, and I haven't updated to SP1. (or any Windows update for that matter) GPU, CPU, and PSU all seem to be the culprits here but I'm absolutely bewildered and upset about this...
I'd like this to finally replace my i5-2400 with this. Mainly photoshop, gaymes at 1080p and stuff like that. I will be using my r9 380 with it for now. Is it worth spending a bit more on RAM or is it a meme outside of synthetic benchmarks?
>NOTE: that I am running basic Win7 64-bit, and I haven't updated to SP1. (or any Windows update for that matter)
Why the fuck not?
Did you install drivers?
Why are you so retarded?
Oliver Bailey
As everyone has already told you the last days, try it with a modern OS. Windows 7 doesn't support this CPU or chipset officially.
So install Windows 10 on a spare disk or partition and do your tests there. If you get the same results then you can blame the hardware. You can download windows 10 for free here microsoft.com/software-download/windows10 You don't need a key.
>Why the fuck not? I was worried about the newer telemetry stuff added to Win 7. >Did you install drivers? All drivers installed and up to date. btw I use GeForce Experience because of Shadowplay meme.
I just wanted more ideas/opinions on how to tackle this. This is what I'm going to try so far (in order): 1. Benchmarks (I don't know which specific ones, though) 2. Test on Windows 10 (gg privacy...) 3. Install SP1 4. Test GPU hardware 5. Test PSU hardware 6. Test CPU hardware
Is a 4k 144hz full HDR monitor worth it if im literally broke? will it run on my ivy bridge and GTX 670
Xavier Hughes
If you're broke you are better off saving it up for emergencies or other dry periods instead of spending it on a luxury item.
Jackson Lopez
quick question: do i need pci-e 3 on my mobo to max out a rx580?
Luke Morris
I have this monitor. AMA
Gabriel Powell
Any suggestions?
Jacob Lee
how is it
Lucas Adams
Hey can anyone help me? I have an NZXT H500 case and a X470 motherboard But my case has this F_panel connector and my board has this colored front panel connector how am I supposed to plug it in?
Because the 580 is usually better and $100 cheaper.
Eli Russell
>firendo buys gaymer laptop. >Enable vsync in his game and tell him it just disables higher refresh rates than he needs; helps him make his laptop last longer. >No user. fuck you. The fans spinning loudly mean its using GoyimChill(tm) technology to keep the best settings available. I'm not going to turn v-sync on. >Ask him if he sees that screen tearing about every 2 seconds without v-sync. >no user, fuck off. (Turns v-sync off and his laptop starts blowing loud like an old hair dryer)
Why did i even bothered with those zoomers...
Mason Hernandez
Seeing as there won't be a new mac pro anytime soon would this be a good hackintosh replacement for an obsolete ~2014 trashcan? pcpartpicker.com/list/fQrKgw Sleeker case would be nice but I don't really want to go smaller, any suggestions? I heard AMD CPUs aren't really supported by apple, any experience with that? Or should I just go and spend money on a imac pro and throw that away when it no longer keeps up? Usage is 3D rendering and visualisation with occasional 4k footage cutting and rendering work in a small engineering company. Graphic designer insists on macOS and he's worth keeping.
Xavier Martinez
You don't need Vsync you could just limit you're FPS Same results and no input lag
John Jenkins
just snatched one of these off amazon for 418 euro. how did I do, Jow Forums?
WHY DECIDED THAT ALL MOTHERBOARDS NEED TO HAVE ALL THESE GAY ASS GAYMER HEATSINKS LITTER THE SURFACE I CANT FIT MY BIG MEATY CLAWS TO GET THE SCREWS IN PLACE
Matthew Lee
>buy a new, curved (meme but whatever) 27" 1080p 144hz VA Korean Monitor for $180 >works absolutely perfectly, looks beautiful, overdrive settings work well, best monitor ive ever had at a fraction of the price of any other competitor
>cant swap directly to HDMI from DisplayPort through the menu, have to wiggle the DisplayPort cable out and have it automatically swap to HDMI1 then plug it back in I love this thing but this one tiny issue just breaks my heart
I'm not a monitor snob or connoisseur but I really like it given the features it has. I don't notice va panel ghosting in games and the built-in speakers are actually decent. Huge colour quality difference coming from my 8yr old 1080p 60hz tn monitor. I run a rx580 8gb with it.
Isaac Davis
My CPU temps at idle are at 22C. My room is 24C right now. I heard that if your CPU temps drop below room ambient temps then you will damage your CPU/Motherboard from condensation. Is this true that I'm killing my PC this way?
It's impossible for your CPU to be below room temperature. One of your readings just gives wrong data. A normal cooling setup, be it fan or water cooling, will not cool the CPU but move the heat away.
Unless you actively cool your CPU (dry ice, liquid nitrogen, duct tape an AC on top of it) you will not have this issue.
Logan Bennett
Why would PBO be bettet than an all core OC on a 2700X?
Gavin Perez
>SSD prices projected to halve in 2019 feelsgoodman. now, about the GPU/RAM prices...
Tyler Gray
How can you tell if a fan is pushing or pulling in air by looking at it?
Isaiah Hall

Carson Taylor
Most fans I've seen push out from the grill side. If you have access to the fan there should be a little arrow somewhere confirming it.
Chase Nelson
Now that adoredtv proved to be a lying clickbait faggot is it safe to buy a 9700k since there won't be nothing better for a year?
Connor Robinson
I assembled my first PC almost 12 years ago now. I still have the original power supply, some kind of 1000w Thermaltake unit.
Should I replace that power supply? I've only done some light overclocking of the CPU for a period of 5 months and then put the computer in storage. I haven't used the computer in more than 2 years, except to make sure it still boots.
Blake Perry
source on that? I need a good laugh
Michael Baker
zen2 should be half a year away, not a year. but if you can't wait at all and need the single core performance, go ahead
Damn. No Ces announcement? Been holding off buying a graphic cards this whole time. Feels bad man
Connor Garcia
It doesn't work in every game, has a performance impact, adds input lag and glitches.
Ryan Carter
I might actually buy the RTX Titan, fixes the only fault I have with my Titan V (the rather small amount of memory). If it can do the same AI stuff it's basically a no brainer. I do wish they kept their old pricing scheme though, the 2080ti already costs old Titan money. When does the review embargo lift?
Jacob Jenkins
spring or summer, maybe even fall for certain 7nm products.
Jack King
the side with the grill is the exhaust side, the other side is intake.
Leo Hughes
How is it a meme? The boot time is much faster on the SSD, as expected. >7 minutes >1.5 minutes what the fuck man, what does it mean?
Dominic Davis
Just missing memory for my budget build. How are these? They're cheaper and have more mhz than the cheapest Hyperx or known brands, so it's kinda weird to me. Build is for low-end gaming, so planning on 2x4gb.
>have 1070ti, R5 2600, 16gb ram@3200 >buying new monitor Which is better, 4K 60hz or 1440p 144hz? I'm deciding between these two monitors (unless anyone has any good suggestions)
you can either go full sweaty ass fat fuck basement dweller mode and learn a completely new OS like linux or accept that 7 has been phased out and likely been doomed by planned obsolescence, alternatively you can keep making your own life a living hell and try to live in regression constantly fighting new updates from shill gates and the pajeets that work for him
Levi King
did you try checking to see if your motherboard is faulty?
did you test psu voltages?
did you update all drivers and stop using win7?
did you plug in everything right?
are you connected to an outlet that is bad?
how many watts is your psu, did you use a calculator? do you have enough power?
Jose Jones
Pretty much everyone would take windows 10 over loonix.
Levi Perez
forget 4k with only a 1070ti, with that set up your best bet is 1440p 60hz or the 144hz 1080p
Parker Davis
I need a high refresh 1080p monitor. What's the shortlist of the best ones you should buy?
Easton Long
just do 1440p 144hz
4k is a meme
144hz is just too good to miss out on
Camden Barnes
Recently bought a 2080ti, currently paired with a 4790k & 165hz 1440p monitor. What should be my next cpu purchase?
Dominic Johnson
Currently have i3-7100 Just purchased i5-9600k I have a Gigabyte Z270X Motherboard Am I really this retarded? should I expect compatibility issues since my motherboard isnt a z370?
Guys, would a 850W Gold Seasonic Focus PSU be enough for this build?? It's the one I have, but I'm a brainlet so I'm not sure if 850W is enough??
Nathaniel Long
Sorry user, you need either a z370 or a z390 for that cpu. On that one the cpu straight up won't work
Jason Johnson
Listen youy absolute fucking idiot, just install Windows 10 and your problems will be gone just like that. If you really are so fucking worried about privacy that you're willing to let your system run like shit and much worse than your brother'sa less powerful PC then I'm afraid you may be retarded
