We'll need 50GHz CPUs for Python to run well enough. The only reason Python is used at all is because you can run C libraries easily, and pulling random C libraries to browse web would be suicidal.

isn't cython a mess? i watched a talk by one of its devs and he said that there's not much they can do in terms of performance cuz it's kind of all over the place. whatever that means.
