Year 2080

>year 2080
>browsers stop supporting JavaScript, moves to python script
>php steps down from king of backend languages, in replace for python
>most system tools is entirely in python
>shell is just a python interpreter
>much of OpenBSD (the new replacement for Linux) has native python bindings
>python is built into the kernel
This is the future of tech. Prove me wrong

You can't make everything our of one language, just imagine the exploits.

Questions mean bugs. It's proof that that will never happen.

I guess since brainfuck is not shown, that means brainfuck is superior :)

browser scripting is cancer
doesnt matter whether its javascript cancer or python cancer
still cancer

>>shell is just a python interpreter
python3 made it a much worse fit for such a thing.

The point is that python will take over the world soon.
The more developers use python, the more interest it'll have to be optimized. And at the rate it's going to be the biggest language by a wide margin

>shell is just a python interpreter
xon.sh/

>python is built into the kernel
kplugs.org/ not really built in but there is still plenty of time till 2080

Webpages become 4 times slower.

We're all gonna be dead due to lack of oxygen by then, lmao.

>muh doomsday
Stay mad, hobo

python has completely fucked versioning and retarded maintainers.

We'll need 50GHz CPUs for Python to run well enough. The only reason Python is used at all is because you can run C libraries easily, and pulling random C libraries to browse web would be suicidal.

At the point of 2080, that would be a possibility

I have no clue what you're smoking, but at best you'd end up with people writing a python to js transpiler.

>shell is just a python interpreter
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bash_(Unix_shell)
>Written in C

Eventhough I hate Python it would be good. If everything becomes homogeneous in terms of programming languages it'll be a big step upwards no matter how shitty the language itself will be.

>the only shell is bash
I shiggy diggy

Here is reality:

>year 2080
>I have long since stopped using the Internet (65 years ago)
>I learn that all Sites are just pure HTML
>Internet is back in its pre-2000's state.
>HTML is King, All of languages don't exist
>IRC is how most people communicate
>RSS Feeds are back and blooming
>Linux died 50 years ago due to SJWs
>Windows died in 2030 after a bug broke the entire system
>MAC is dead
>People use their technology responsibly
>People got rid of their SmartPhones and worthless junk eons ago
>Browse the various Internet/s over terminal
>BSD Variants have taken over
>All is peaceful. Google and Facebook died half a century ago

So Jow Forums, who else here /hopeful/?

which shell are you using my man, pretty sure it's written in either c or c++

>year 2080
>every Computer, SmartPhone and IoT-shit runs a proprietary OS with forced internet connection and real-ID verification for usage.
>nobody has root access
>reverse engineering this software gets you into jail
>every device is watching you and report every law-offending or critics to the police
>you can only use them, if you have enough "social points" (like in China)
>every public area is filled with cameras and spy drones to watch you 24/7
>nobody cares about programming languages, because nobody, except some state-sponsered programmers, is allowed to program.

The python interpreter is also written in C. Whats your point?

that this sentence isn't right
>shell is just a python interpreter
as almost every shell I heard of (ksh csh fish bash zsh ...) aren't at all python interpreter

>2080
>desktops no longer exist
>google lobbying means you are no longer allowed to use an "unknown operating system" on "non-approved hardware" for "security reasons"
>you are now required by law to pay an amazon/netflix/google tax
>apple went bust years ago
>chromeOS is all that still exists
>manufacturers prevent it from being uninstalled
>need to log into your google account to use it
>all applications and files, including notepad, are now online (why would you ever be offline with 10g networks everywhere? are you an incel?)
>linux development stopped in the 2030s
>internet now solely consists of facebook/google and all the social media they own
>no web browser, you are forced to use separate apps for each
>if you want to use the internet for information you need to be a student to access Google Learn
>otherwise you can just use Google News

>If everything becomes homogeneous in terms of programming languages it'll be a big step upwards no matter how shitty the language itself will be.

whether it's conscious or sub-conscious, the programming industry has NEVER moved towards ease of use in any broad sense, because of muh job security.

I unironically support a future like this

I hope for this. And I fear this:

>the year is 2080
>all interpreted languages are dead
>except one
>well actually 23
>there are 23 wholly non-compatible full and point releases of python
>competing for the prize

you do realize every single country is headed for china's style of society, right?
nations in europe looked at the US, saw that it was most succesful and as a result imitated it to some degree of success
now people see china being a million times more succesful, and are beginning to wish to imitate it

this... but if i HAVE to choose id take python

It's not the
>year 2080
yet.

>year 2080
>Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Tencent, Alibaba already has so much money, they build their own cities and nations
>no privacy anymore, everybody has an Alexa-like assistant, which spies on you 24/7
>everything "smart", everything is monitored. Everywhere is spyware, AI-powered drones and cams & every electronical device has a microphone
>social-score like in China
>people don't care. They have cheap flats and the latest smartphones
>Internet is only available for a miniority. Other people just have access to an intranet (GNet, AmazonNet, ...)
>no freedom of press anymore. No freedom of speech. Critics lose their account (includes flat, job, car, access to "public" company-owned services)
>Programming languages is different between every company (apple = swift, google = go, amazon = anything stupid)
>States doesn't have might anymore. Everything is privatized. No democracy anymore (you can vote, but the president, the parlament and judges don't have any might. Corruption isn't illegal anymore. It's still called "lobbying")

Zero exploits because Python is the most easily auditable language and you can't do anything "clever" with it.

Birth rates are dropping as it is with the modern lavish lifestyle. If social points take over, expect to see major drops.

>year 2080
>CPUs peaked at ~8 GHz, four decades ago
>it's just more cores now
>everybody uses the language with a GIL

isn't cython a mess? i watched a talk by one of its devs and he said that there's not much they can do in terms of performance cuz it's kind of all over the place. whatever that means.
