Tearing on Linux still exists in 2018

Every fucking distro/desktop environment combo I tried gave me screen tearing issues. Then I got Xubuntu and installed compton. Everything is perfect now, not sure what the fuck was up with everything else. Maybe it's because I have an Nvidia graphics card.

Just got done with a round of distro hopping because of this exact issue. I don't know what OpenSUSE does but it's the only distro I've found where Plasma5-X11 doesn't tear on portrait monitors.

Only on KDE.

I always had tearing on nvidia with more than one screen too, but its fine with amd and intel gpus.
