Describe the architecture or features of a modern anonymous forum.

A central web server with browser clients is goofy. How distributed can you get?

everyone has an account, for moderation easy. make spaming, ban evading. everyone only show up as user. other than that maybe a rating system per posts but is off by default. the rating thing works best in small communities. once the community grows large enough rating is shit.

you don't know what you are talking about

blockchain torrent irc

>inb4 you 1up this

posting repulsive 3dpd garbage results in autoban

How about annotations for posts and then personal filters based on those descriptions?

Go drink some bleach, shit for brains.

Jow Forums

maybe a distribute sharded database for metatdata and a distributed filesystem for images and videos? the goal is people choose how much and what they want to store and share. few people probably want a complete copy of everything.

i like that but are the annotations something anyone can create or is it a predefined pool. if it is a pool is the pool different per board/thread. maybe the owner of board/thread can add extra annotations. what do you think

This.
also more cunnyposters

moderators and janitors must be removed. never give a monkey any authority.

I like the idea of an open development dictionary of labels that people can draw from when labeling posts and designing their filters.

phpbb is pretty much perfect
except loose ends for addon scripts
niggers keep trying to reinvent the wheel
irc is perfectly fine as well. just disable server logging, boda bing anonymouse

god i wish that were me

You're unemployed, right?

That could get interesting.

You spooked them.

>hire a hall or function room
>or meet at library or park or something
>invite people to come
>they all choose a nickname upon joining the group
>no personal details are required, people share only that which they wish

You don't need the great and holy and sanctified lord almighty INTERNET (pbuh) to discuss ideas and make friends. The internet is an overrated meme and a timesink, go outside.

Who asked about discussing ideas and making friends.

Something that looks and functions like this:

Distributed. Fast. Some form of moderation all the same for cp and shit. Community voting is dangerous though because it creates reddits. I sincerely don't know how you balance total freedom with no cp.

This is what peak performance looks like, as far as "anonymous forums" go. You may disagree all you want, but it is an inescapable fact.

>Actually a Jow Forums subdomain

wtf is this? Some beta of a new Reddit tier UI?

p = 'pay', or, its yet another Hiro Enterprises User Monetization Research Project AFAIK
see: idk exactly either desu, refuse to touch it with a pole, no good can come of this Devils Work, etc. But our esteemed eastern moot appears determined to fuck around till he either makes bank, or gets paid a ransom to fuck off again, win-win. Boards in general been going backwards since BBS days

Nigger

It's incredible how hard it is to replace desu,

> Anyone can spool up a Jow Forums clone but it'll be a ghost town
> Potentially successful competitors had unbelievable amounts of popularity generating drama and are still ghost towns
> Sites built with specific goals around having a nice community become a hellscape of CP and either shutdown on their own or get v&
> Sites that actually show potential suddenly realise a $5 VPS won't cut it and nor will a $20 Cloudflare account and no one without financial backing can afford this shit
> The more people lament the state of Jow Forums, the more we realise it's actually growing in this state at the expense of competitors

I don't have a pepe sad enough to express how depressing the situation actually is.

RIP in piece /prog/

>peer-to-peer
>anonymous
>multiple available transport back-ends: Tor, I2P, Freenet, GNUnet, some nodes could act as bridges between the networks
>multiple ways to display data, not limited to webshitclient
>spam resistance via. POW
>ledger based (cryptography)
>append only
>censorship resistant
>fully free and open source

I have an idea how to implement this properly but I don't have time or motivation to actually do it, as I'm working on other large projects for financial gain.
Biggest hurdle is the optimization of network performance.

Formulate it into a paper or some shit, at least you could get credit for the idea if it comes around.

it would be very hard not to fuck with us for fun, if I were in his position. I'd kind of hate us if I were him.

if there were some way to crowdfund some sort of trust that would pay a dividend high enough to pay for the server costs, that might be one way to float it. there is absolutely zero chance that whoever births the thing wouldn't take the money and run though. I was in the first biz delegate fiasco, motherfucker stole a dollar from me. However, if there were other hopefully massive profits to be made then there wouldn't be the same temptation.

We could do our own cryptocurrency and raise the money that way. Not putting the archive in the blockchain or anything, that's stupid, but like build a central wallet that either rents server time or buys fucking stocks or something after selling for government fiat. Shit it would have to be a 503c or something probably. I'd trust Uncle Chang to run it.

>a trust
is the answer, fairly sure there actually is a high percentage of potentially willing contributors, on condition they are not willingly contributing to an owners pockets. An owner who does fucking jack apart from dream up yet more new money-grubbing depravities anyway.

What about a free imageboard with a cryptocurrency tipping system built in where a small percentage of the tip goes towards funding server costs? No upvotes, just something similar to Jow Forums but with tips

That way you can incentivize high-content posting and fund server costs.

the only incentivation a user should have to communicate is wanting to express an idea, not make money.

edit: thanks for the gold kind stranger
