Got really fed up with swapping files back and forth between win/mac/debian-based/chromebook/android, and spouse was pushing to have us both use apple computers and phones. I’d bought a macbook and iphone in grad school and hated them but still have to earn a living working partly from home, so I chose to have a win10 pc offline and a trisquel laptop for internetting. Probably could have bought a server instead but I am overly leery about an always-on device that my family will access from public networks.

My computer is too old and don't have VT-X/AMD-V to run virtual machines at full speed in case i actually need to run windows stuff.
But i'm pretty sure i WILL have to use linux if i upgrade the PC, because i refuse to use windows 10.

I used to have faronics Deep Freeze installed for when the win10 machine did go online. Anything happens, just reboot.
