Not op, but what is stopping you from taking the Ipad apart and swapping out the hard drive or BIOS chips with one from a mutilated smashed screen Ipad? Wouldn't that "unlock" the device? Obviously we're getting into Ship of Theseus turf here. Does the iPad verify the chips itself?
