Ubuntu is pretty good for beginners.
If you want it to look like windows try Kubuntu.
Ubuntu isn't really the best distrobut the community is full of people ready to help.
After you get used to it you can try other distros if you want, i'd personally recommend Fedora because of how well implemented everything is, compared to other distros.
Keep in mind that most of the differences between distros are
1)Community
2)Package Manager
3)Desktop Environment
So when you compare them just keep these in mind.
Be careful not to switch distros too much, it's a pretty annoying habbit
PRO TIP: Don't run random commands from the forums, just don't. Only run them if you are really sure what they do.

Nah just use win 7

Please take the idiot-proof Ubuntu's retard distro: Linux Mint Cinnamon Version 64bit.
Thank me later.

Your distro is the starting point. It doesn't really matter. If you like apt, go with Ubuntu or Debian. If you like pacman, go with Arch. Just choose a distro that suits your needs and customize it from there.

Gentoo

By Arch I don't mean install arch itself, maybe a distro based on it better suited for beginners would be good.

Kubuntu

Fedora if you want something comparable to the justwerks feature-complete enterprise experience RHEL would provide.

mint if you want a windows like desktop.

>good linux distro
>no meme's

debian

Microsoft® Windows™ 10 with Ubuntu® in WSL

kubuntu for first time
fedora or opensuse later on when you learn more and become comfortable

This. Ubuntu and its derivatives are the easiest.

>all these shit suggestions
nigga just stick with windows. If 10 is giving you shit use LTSC or Win7.
If you absolutely want to try linux go for the few user-friendly, stable ones such as linux mint and manjaro.

Windows 10 Pro

Build your own on top of debian

THEY ARE ALL LINUX/GNU
IDIOTS THAT TELL YOU _____ IS BETTER THAN _____ DO NOT USE LINUX/GNU HOW IT IS MEANT TO BE USED

as long as it supports cntrl+alt+t, it's all the same.

Manjaro. It's Arch but for normal human beings.

With Windows Subsystem for Linux enabled.
Then pick from Ubuntu, Debian, OpenSUSE SUSE Enterprise Server, or KALI.

void

give bunsenlabs a try, pretty minimal

ubuntu
kubuntu
lubuntu
zubuntu
labuntu
niguntu
insidejobuntu
trumpbuntu

As everyone else is suggesting, try Ubuntu or Mint, those are the most beginner friendly and Windows-like distros, Fedora is also easy to get into as well and it's more advanced

If that's truly the case, then unironically

Most Windows-like distro with very good support (software and community) is probably Linux Mint. If you don't mind exploring a new UI, then go for Ubuntu or Kubuntu (GNOME and KDE respectively)

KDE is also fairly Windows-esque in appearance however it may not run the best on older hardware.

ubuntu is a meme, try manjaro xfce.
ubuntu is too slow and resource intensive keeps scaries newcomers who try it see that is fricking slow and never come back to linux.
manjaro xfce is awesome.
or mint

he said he is new to linux, he never used apt or pacman there is no way he can use these as base to decide what to do

just remember to check hardware compatibilitie first so you dont end up with, a non funcional computer. like no ethernet, or something like that

Ubuntu based on Debian Stable, an enterprise grade server environment.
Manjaro based on Arch, a bleeding edge distro meant for testing.
Just install Kubuntu user. Don't listen to the arch-fags.
