Oh, now I realize. Epel was actually the nice thing. The one that's basically just a repository of current software.
it was SCL that's fucking awkward to use, installing shit to /opt and requiring you to use and autostart bash scripts to rewrite the environment to use them that never work right.

This is why I like Microsoft. Dudes got their whole tech stack under their control instead of rolling yet another fucking Lunix distro and ripping tech. FOSS inherently leads to fragmentation. Just look up the fucking Red Hat code obfuscation shit so Oracle can't just copy paste their distro and in response Oracle actually started providing patch-log services so you can see what Redhat changed in the kernel lmfao. Sharing tech stalls competition because it puts all the competitors outta' business.
