Hard to say, haven't heard them. Bass is also precived differently with speakers than headphones as headphones just stimulates your ears while speakers also stimulates your nostrils
Sunfire makes the smallest subs that I know of. Due the laws of physics, it's hard to make something small that can play deep and loud, so you have to decide somewhat on how much you want to compromise.

Can someone explain CD players to me. Does a $20 CD player vs a $200 CD player actually improve sound, or is it just better build quality?

most people can get along with an inexpensive CD player since new technologies are better and better
if your sound system is higher end, and distinguishes differences more prominently, a CD player with a better DAC, preamp and power supply can give noticeable differences, but whether those differences are worth an extra 100 or 1000 dollars is somewhat subjective
i think most blu ray players are pretty excellent with CD music output
but for example i used to use a portable panasonic player which is relatively decent to take around with me but it had problems with jitter, error rejection, and when the battery ran down, the volume output did weird things and not good

They were just part of the previous setup, and I just didn't bother to move them, so they're re-stacked to hold stuff now.
I'm not sure whether they make much difference in terms of damping. I think the foam blocks under the sub make more difference.
