The best part that people don't realise is that Windows has its own self-repairing functionality.
If you have issues with default Windows software acting buggy for some shitty reason, just open a command prompt & type "sfc /scannow" (this will scan for any base OS software that has cone corrupt & reinstall it from cabinet files available in C:\Windows\system32 & C:\Windows\sysWOW64).
I need to look into what Linux or BSD projects have self-healing capabilities like this.

most package managers handle configs and packages separately, thus reinstalling a package essentially does almost this, except is a bit more expensive
